MELIA POV Rounding the corner, I saw Kira pouting at the breakfast table with our cousins Lily and Vera. I slid myself into a chair at the massive kitchen island, making sure I kept my back to the three of them. There was a huge bouquet of all different flavored muffins sitting in the middle of the island. I took two, one blueberry and one banana. I quickly devoured the first one and started on the second one when my cousin Matt snuck up behind me and ferociously started tickling me. Screaming, I sucked a big chunk of blueberry muffin down my windpipe. I coughed so hard I thought my lungs were going to burst. Once, I dislodged the muffin chunk and I tried regaining some of my composure. With everyone in the room trying not to hysterically laugh, my composure was a lost cause. Matt was, of course, bent over laughing, looking as if he was hyperventilating, so I punched him in the side, which abruptly ended not only his but all the laughter in the kitchen. “Damn, Mia”, Matt said

MELIA POV We were finally back home after hours upon hours of shopping. Kira drug us through every store in the Southgate Mall. Don’t get me wrong, I love to shop but for whatever reason I was anxious, I had a gut feeling that something was going to go wrong. It could have just been nerves because of the party tonight, but whatever it was, I wanted to be close to my sisters. They made me feel safe. MELIA POV Maisie and I were making our way to the coven house when we saw Nana coming down the steps. Right before we reached her, mom walked right past us towards her. “I’m sorry my girls, but your mom and I need a private moment. But everything is alright, go enjoy your party.” Nana grabbed hold of our mom’s arm and they disappeared. “What was that all about, Mia? Have you seen dad this evening? MELIA POV Nana reached her hand out to us and we each grabbed her arm. She snapped her fingers and all of our dresses were gone, replaced by a thin piece of black hand-sewn cloth that didn't leave much to the imagination. If we had not practiced for the ceremony the whole last year, I would have been embarrassed to walk out in front of our coven in such a minuscule amount of clothing. Unfortunately, it's a tradition and it is something everyone in the coven had to do when they either turned eighteen or when they joined the coven. Nana started herding us towards the pavilion where the elders and the inner court members from both ours and other covens were gathered. As we reached them, Nana cleared her throat.
