Chapter 58: I can't see him right now

As soon as we arrived at the hospital, I was hit with a barrage of questions and strange glances when I couldn't answer most of them. Once I'd given them what little I had, we were directed to the neurology waiting room and left to wait and wonder.

"I can sense you doing the mental gymnastics again," Ollie said, putting his hand on my bouncing knee. "What really happened with Eric?"

"I told you, Mom was following him and Charlie and - "

He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned his head into the wall. "Now, get to the real issue."

A man in a white medical coat entered the waiting room and called my name.

"That'd be me." I waved.

"Would you like to speak in private?"

"Not really." Ollie and I were the only ones in the waiting room and if I left, I'd have to repeat it all.

"Okay." The doctor took the seat next to me. "Your mother was transferred here for a neurological exam. The MRI shows a sizeable mass on her right frontal lobe. There's a good chance it's a bacterial infecti
