The Real Daughter

Dasha's POV

"Yelena, is there something you're not telling me?" my father asked to my mother.

I was just silent now, the tears started to flow. My father kept trying to calm me down by rubbing my shoulders and hugging me.

My mother hugged the girl and tried to catch her breath instead of answering my father's question.

"What's your name, where are you from, and how old are you?" was a series of questions my father asked the girl who had crashed my party.

"My name is Rachel Yan. I'm eighteen years old and from the village of Celaya," she answered confidently.

Just as my father was about to ask another question, my mother interrupted him.

"Felix, that day I saw the birthmark on our baby and I'm the one who put this necklace around her neck before she was taken to the nursery, but I didn't get a chance to tell you about it because I suddenly started bleeding, remember? I had to be treated right away and couldn't see our daughter again until I was a little better," my mother explained.

"Then how can you be sure that this girl is your real daughter?" I asked with a bitter tone.

"I'm sorry, Dasha, but I feel a strong bond with Rachel at this moment."

Hearing what my mother said just made me sad. I'm supposed to be happy on my birthday, but this girl just ruined it.

Then my mother continued her explanation earlier, "When I was carrying out baby later on, I didn't find the necklace that i put on her before. I thought it must be misplaced somewhere and made a fuss about it. I also didn't bother to recheck the birthmark until Rachel reminded us tonight."

My father then replied to my mother, "That's right, Yelena, it turns out that I also remember that we made that necklace for our baby. I don't know if I should be happy or sad today because..." my father's stop to talked when he looked at me.

"Does it mean I'm not your daughter then? What I'm supposed to do? Who and where my true parents right now? Am i going to be kicked out from this pack?" I'm bombarded my parents with so many question.

I can't believe my whole life is turned out to be a lie. My parents then hug me warmly. I feel like they still care about me and I feel calmed thanks to that.

"You are still our daughter, Dasha. Mom and Dad love you very much. This incident is beyond prediction, and we are also sorry if your party tonight is a mess," my mother explained as she hugged me.

Then, my father called an Omega to take Rachel to an empty room provided for her. He also asked me to rest immediately and forget about tonight's events for a while, also not to discuss it again until tomorrow.

"What should I do, Helen? Was my life already done for with the arrival of that girl?" I suddenly asked to my inner wolf.

"I know this reality is hard for you, Dasha. But I believe that Alpha Felix and Luna Yelena will still treat you the same as before. You've always been with them, so your bond is powerful," Helen explained.

I sighed, and my footsteps stopped in front of my room. I slowly entered, closed my bedroom door, and sat down on my favourite chair overlooking the backyard.

I looked at the remains of the party decorations that were being cleaned up by some of the House Pack members. Sad. The party only had to end with cutting the cake and blowing out the candles, and wasn't tonight I supposed to meet the Alpha who would marry me?

"Dasha, I just remembered something," Helen said suddenly.

"What is it?"

"During the whole party, I didn't see Nicholas' presence, where was he? He should be able to calm you down right now like he always does when you need it."

"Beta Gerald assigned Nicholas to meet the House Pack partners in town. He apologized and told me he can't attend my party. But you're right, Helen, I need him," I said, picking up the cell phone on my study table.

I started to dial Nicholas' number. I thought he should know tonight's story before he came to my house tomorrow as usual.

"Hi, Dasha. How was your ceremonial party tonight? I'm sorry I only had time to take your call because I was resting," Nicholas answered my call.

"Hmm, the party ended early, Nicho!" I explained.

Then I explained everything that happened tonight, including Rachel, who turned out to be my parents' real daughter.

"Dasha. I believe you will get through this. You must behave like the ussual Dasha. The child of Alpha Felix and Luna Yelena. I also believe that they will still treat you well. Maybe they are shocked right now. You have to be considerate for them, and keep doing your best as their daughter, okay!" said Nicholas, which calmed me down.

"All right, Nicho, thank you for always calming me down," I said.

"Now sleep and tomorrow just do your activities as usual. Don't change yourself just because of what happened tonight," Nicholas told me again.

The next day, after I returned from the academy, I visited a house pack which is not too far from home.

I helped my father with some of the pack's chores, such as checking on the condition of the farms and gardens.

All the people in the house pack looked at me differently this time. Usually, they would smile and greet me from a distance. But this time everyone trying to avoiding me, and some even looked at me sarcastically.

"Poor Miss Rachel, she had to be separated from our Alpha and Luna for a dozen years, and I heard that she even lives miserably with her adoptive parents in Celaya Village," one of the Omegas who were gathered in front of the house-pack kitchen said as I passed them.

I tried to catch my breath, not to get carried away. When I arrived at the field, Nicholas was already waiting for me and greeted me with his sweet smile.

"Good morning, Princess. Congrulation for your coming-of-age ceremony last night, i hope you still found it appropriate to mingle with me after you turned into an adult," said Nicholas jokingly.

I smiled back at him, "I don't think it's so bad being out in the fields with you instead of at home watching the warmth and watching my parents spoiled Rachel, their real daughter."

"You can't do that, Dasha. It would help if you tried to mingle with them. Maybe Rachel can be your new fun sibling," said Nicho.

"Rachel doesn't seem to like my presence, Nicho. When we had breakfast together this morning, she only responded to mom and dad, when I tried to engaged in their conversations, she seemed displeased and ignore me. I think i should just stay here, while waiting for my dad to finish his work," I explained to my best friend.

Nicholas just nodded and pat my shoulder.

In the evening, I come home with my father. I don't want to start any small talk and apparently it makes my father feel worry, so he asked me.

"Aren't you angry with Mom and Dad?"

"Why would I be angry when you've been so kind to me? I feel guilty about being in this position, and i think I'm not supposed to be here."

I said, staring out the car window. Then, my father gently rubbed my head.

"Don't say that. Stay with us. You are still our daughter, Dasha. I hope you and Rachel can get along, now that we have two beautiful daughters. You can teach Rachel how to live in the Blue Moon pack. Wouldn't it be nice for you to be a sister, guiding Rachel to be better?" my father asked me.

I just smiled forcefully.
