The Arrange Marriage

Dasha's POV

"Dasha? How was hanging out with your sister Rachel last night," My mother suddenly asked me as we were all about to start our breakfast activities.

Rachel looked at me sarcastically because she didn't want me to talk to our parents about her bad behavior last night.

Rachel bought a lot of clothes at a fantastic price and lightly asked me to pay for them. I always asked my parents for permission when I want to buy something expensive but she's just doing whatever she want.

"It's fun!" I said, pretending to smile.

My mother responded as well, and we all started eating breakfast together. After our meal was finished. Then our father asked Rachel and me not to leave right away.

"There's something Mom and Dad want to talk to you Dasha, and Rachel should know, too."

I nodded at his request. I hoped it wouldn't be another bad news.

"Dasha, do you remember your arrange married with Alpha Edmon of the Nightfall Pack?" my father asked me again.

"Of course, Dad. I even think about it every day. I want to do the best for you and this pack!" I said.

My parents looked at each other, and there was a heavy sigh from my father.

"Listen, Dasha. The mating agreement was between the Alpha of the Nightfall Pack and daughter of the Alpha from the Blue Moon Pack. I was actually afraid to say this, but now Rachel turned out to be our biological daughter, and that means..." my father explained, pausing for a moment when he saw the sad look on my face.

"Just say it, Dad. I understand and I won't get mad because it's an agreement between our packs alliance." I said.

My father nodded with a smile, "So the one who has to marry Alpha Edmon is Rachel!"

I had known that my father would talk like that, even though it hurt and disappointed me a lot. But what could I say? It was all for the sake of the pack, not my own. Even though I was still unsure about marrying someone I had never met before.

Rachel was immediately surprised by our father's words and interrupted him.

"What? Who did you marry? Me? With Alpha Edmon?" asked Rachel.

My mother then chimed in, "Yes, dear. He is known as a powerful Alpha in our alliance. We hope you can accept the match just like Dasha did before.”

"Why are you in such a hurry to marry me off? Are you trying to get rid of me mom, dad? I've just been enjoying my time as your daughter and feeling the warmth of a family. Then suddenly I'm asked to marry a man I don't know and live with him forever, really. What kind of joke is this?" said Rachel, and I could hear her slightly raised tone.

I could only sigh at Rachel's answer. I admit I also had the same worries when i heard about the arranged married before, but she should have been respectful to our parents. I've never dare to raise my voice in front of them.

"Come on, sweetheart. Marriage doesn't always limit you. Alpha Edmon will still allow you to meet us here," my father said, trying to convince Rachel.

Rachel still had an annoyed look on her face, and my mother signaled me to help convinced her.

"Rachel, Mom and Dad's decision is the best for us and this pack you should trust them. They have more experience in this life than we do!" I said, trying to be wise.

Rachel chuckled, "I'm not you, Dasha. Why should I be forced to do something I don't want to do? It's enough that I live miserably in the village with my adoptive parents, who also force me to obey their orders. I thought my real mom and Dad would respect my wishes, but i guess all parents all the same."

Rachel's words surprised me. How could she say that in front of our parents? But I saw that mother and father were trying to be patient and understanding because maybe Rachel had not received a good education in ethics.

"Rachel, dear. Mom and Dad will always try to fulfill your need, no matter what! But please, this time, we're only asking you to accept this arranged marriage. After this, we promised we wouldn't ask you to follow our other wishes," my father explained again, continuing to plead.

"I want to marry a man of my own choice, Dad! The man I fall in love with. Not choosen by other people."

Rachel still insisted on her wish. I tried to argue with her.

"Rachel, this is a tradition in our pack and something that is considered very sacred in the Alliance. If we broke the agreement, there will be a consequence. Our pack would be in danger. A union is not easy to maintain. There's rituals, also elders and seer to predict the future and make decision. This arranged marriage was also predicted for a good future," I explained to Rachel, trying to appeal to My parents again.

Mother and father smiled at me and gave me a thumbs up. I saw the annoyance on Rachel's face.

"Is that so? Then why don't you just be the one to marry him and fulfill the agreement?" Rachel said back.

"Wasn't it clear from our father's explanation at the beginning that the one who is entitled to this marriage is you, his real daughter? Not me."

I said, trying to hold back my heartbreak.

"So i can't escape this arrangement huh? Alright, I'll obey your orders, but want something in return. If I accept this arranged marriage, I want mom and dad to fulfill all my wishes, listen to what i say and let me do whatever I want. Do you all agree?

Mother and father finally smiled with relief and nodded in agreement with Rachel's words. I could only pretend to smile as well.

"So the man who was supposed to be my future husband is coming tonight? Hmm, today was supposed to be my meeting with him, but fate said otherwise," I muttered.

"Dasha! Do you still have that dress I bought you for your official meeting with Alpha Edmon?" my mother asked, suddenly bring me back into reality.

"Yes! Why, mom?" I replied.

"Can you let Rachel to borrow it? I'll buy you a new dress."

"No problem, Mom. There is no need to replace it. I still have plenty of clothes," I said.

"I don't want to wear Dasha's old clothes. I want to buy new ones, Mom," Rachel said.

"But last night you already..." I said, which was immediately stopped because Rachel squinted at me as if to tell me to shut up.

That sucks. Rachel really can't control herself when it comes to spending money.

Last night, my savings were almost half gone just to pay for the brand-name clothes she wanted. It's no use telling mother and father, they won't believe me. Rachel is good at using her tongue, just like the broken vase incident before.

Finally, the matchmaking discussion was over, and my father went back to the house pack with my mother. I went to the Academy, and Rachel just relaxed at home.

Our mother had asked Rachel to study with me at the Academy, but the girl wasn’t interested and refused our mother's request.

I started to walk to the car, but Rachel suddenly stopped me.

"Dasha! I know there's an important meeting tonight. I hope you won't be there. I don't want to hear your yapping in front of them, do you understand?"
