CHAPTER EIGHT

I tossed and turned in the bed. My mind passing through images of those men on the ground, the helpless looks on Teresa’s face. The look on Javier’s face. I cried into my pillow. I hated myself, I hated all those men, but mostly I hate Cameron. She did this to us. She hurt my sister.

I sat up and walked downstairs.

I heard Ricardo shout, “They are safer here.”

“Safe? They were kidnapped because of you and Carmen.” Javier said

“I had no part in this. This was all Cameron’s doing.”

“So, all of a sudden, you care about your kids?”

“I have always cared about my kids.”

“Then why have you sent people to kill them?”

“It wasn’t me. I sent people to bring them to me?”

“So, they just decided to kill them instead?”

I walked into the room. “It was Mateo.”

Javier stood up. “Isabella.”

I looked away from him and sat down.

Javier looked at me. “I’m sorry, Isabella.”

He reached out to touch me. I pushed his hand away. He was just as bad as Pablo. Sending women out to have sex with random men. World-class lady seller a decorative name for a pimp. And I supported him. I am a filth bitch. I deserved it.

“There’s no need to be sorry, I deserved it.”

“No, no one deserves that.” Don Ricardo. “Ten people in one sitting, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”

“Ten people? Who did this?”

“It’s already been taken care of.”

“By who, you?”

“Your wife, she killed them all. It was gory the walls and the ceiling….”

Ricardo’s words began to blend together, and I stopped listening as I relived everything from that day.

I stood up, “I’m going to take a bath.”

I went upstairs to Ricardo’s bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror. My pale, tired face looked back at me. I knocked everything off the sink with my arm. I look down a bottle of aspirins had spilled. I picked it up.

I sat down at the edge of the tub. I turned on the water and sat there looking at the bottle. I could end everything today. Right now, no more pain, no more tears. Right now. I got undressed and sat in the tub. I took a handful of the pills and swallowed them and slipped under the water.

My body laid under the water in peace

A couple of minutes later Teresa walked in,

“Bella, Ricardo told me what you said, he’s right you didn’t deserve that. Neither of us did.” She looked down and saw the bottle of pills on the floor.

“Bella?” she looked at me under the water.

She screamed. Javier and Ricardo came running into the bathroom. Teresa fell to her knees.

“What’s going on?” He looked in the tub. “Isabella.”

Ricardo pulled me out of the water. He tried to find a pulse. When he couldn’t find one, he attempted CPR.

“Call a medic!” He yelled. “Oh, mi hija, what have you done?”

I sat up abruptly and spit out all the water I breathed in. I fell backward. Ricardo caught me.

“What’s wrong, why isn’t she awake? How many pills did she take?” Javier asked.

Teresa picked up the bottle. “All of them.”

The ambulance came and took me from the hospital. Within 8 long hours, I was hooked up a machine with a breathing tube and a feeding tube down my throat.
