Frustrating Boss.

Chapter One.

MELANIE'S POINT OF VIEW

"Holy shit! I'm done for!", I screamed as I jumped out of bed.

You must be wondering why I'm freaking out when it's only minutes past five in the morning but trust me when I tell you that I have legitimate reason to freak out.

I'm Melanie Wright, twenty-seven years old and... That's about all that's important about me, I don't have much of a life. I graduated from school at twenty-two and worked multiple jobs for about two years before landing a job in the almighty Knight Incorporated.

I genuinely have no idea how I was able to get hired so easily considering it was such a high position and I had no previous job experience unless my internship while in school counts and some part-time jobs I did...

My point is that I was very lucky to get this job as Personal assistant to the CEO of Knight Inc, at least so I thought until I met Dexter Abram.

My first thought when I met him was that he's cute, handsome rather. He was a very attractive man, he still is, even though it takes everything in me to admit it but everything was ruined once he opened his mouth.

"You look crazy, Miss Knight", he had said.

Who says that on his first time meeting someone?

I get that my hair was a little rough that day and I had tucked in my shirt quite hurriedly so it was kinda rough. I can't really understand what else provoked that comment but it wasn't my fault.

After years of waking up at six, he expected me to get to his house that was on the other side of town which was miles away as at then by six. I didn't want to be late so I had paid very little attention to my looks and had gotten inside his home few minutes after six.

That was a very big effort on my part considering it takes about seven minutes by car to get to his house from the entrance to his owned private estate.

Yeah, that was the only day that jerk had provided a car to ferry me to his house.

Now I have to walk to his house which takes about fifteen minutes if I'm doing a combination of running and walking.

It's crazy that even though I've spent the past three years as a slave, the rest of the world sees me as someone who's at the top of the ladder as an employee in the business world.

"Drop me here", I told the Uber driver once my eyes spot the entrance to the estate and I hurry off once he stops the vehicle.

"Good morning, Miss Wright", the security officer at the gate greeted me as he lets me into the estate.

"Good morning", I smiled back and walked off.

"6:05" I muttered to myself looking at the wristwatch. Dex the jerk is going to kill me with those murderous looks and snide comments of his.

I only call him that in my head as you should be able to tell. He would immediately fire me if he ever hears that nickname.

He was unable to fire me for the first year after my recruitment because his grandfather, bless his soul, liked me for some reason we both couldn't tell.

I once saw him tell his grandfather he hated me and from his grandfather's response, it was obvious it wasn't the first time. The memory of how he whined is such a great treasure to me, I'm so glad I ran into them that day.

That is the only person Dexter was close to as far as I know. Even with his mother and his childhood friend who was the company's lawyer, he was still a jerk.

Three years of Dexter being rude and overworking me like the bastard he is. Once my younger sister, lily is done with college and gets a job, I'm out of here. So I have few months left.

I finally enter into his house at twenty-two minutes past six and meet his housekeeper and chef, Mrs Corazon on my way upstairs.

"Good morning, Mrs Corazon", I greeted

 "Morning, Melanie", she replied

Okay, that's one more person Dex the jerk is nice to and she's the only one left.

I walk into his closet and pick out his clothes then come out. I see him open the door to his room which was adjacent to the door I was in front of on stepping out and internally pray that he doesn't notice me.

 "Miss Wright"

 But he did.

"Good morning, sir", I greet and close the door of his closet.

It's around 6:30 so he must be coming back from his in-house gym. The bastard has everything in his life timed.

"You are late, by twenty-nine minutes", I hear him nag.

"I've actually been in the house for a few minutes"

"I will judge by whatever point in time I lay my eyes on you", Dexter coldly responds and I roll my eyes glad that he didn't step back so couldn't see me. "I haven't gotten briefed on my schedule due to your lateness"

 "I'm sorry, sir"

 "Did you have breakfast?"

 "No, sir"

"That's just nice", he replied and shuts the door to his room.

"Asshole", I mutter on my breath.

Of course, he would be pleased because I'm not allowed to eat anything in his home without his permission. That means if I miss my breakfast, like I just did, I would starve till we get to the office.

I walk to his home office and sit on my desk with a sigh. I haven't even memorized his schedule for the day yet.

"Miss Wright!", I heared minutes later quickly ran out from the room.

"Come in", he replied immediately I knocked on the door and I gingerly walked in. "What's my schedule for the day?"

I sigh and begin pouring out what I had just memorized. He begins walking out as I am talking and I hurriedly pick up his briefcase that was beside his bed and his suit jacket on the bed then rush after him.

We are in the middle of descending the staircase when he suddenly stops.

 "What's that sound I'm hearing?"

"What sound?", I ask, panting until I notice him staring at my feet.

I was still wearing my flip-flops.

"Where are your shoes?", he asks as his eyes move to my face.

It's the murderous glare, his perfect grey eyes bore into mine as I bent down my head in shame, gosh he is so scary when he gets angry and he is always angry at me anyways.

I raised up my head and took up the courage to explain everything to him.

"I planned to wear a stiletto today but since I was rushing, I just dumped it into my bag. It turned out to be a good decision considering how much I've been rushing about, my legs would have been aching already if I had worn them. Besides, they're pretty shoes so shouldn't be abused", I blurt out nervously but his glare doesn't fade. "I'll put them on before we leave though", I added and he sighed exasperatedly then continues walking downstairs.

I sighed and rushed after him.

"Put on your shoes right now, the sound of this footwear of yours is annoying me"

Just few months left and I will be out of his life.
