I was about to face something far more sinister than a mere werewolf

My heart pounded in my chest, and I could feel beads of sweat forming on my forehead. The unknown woman's expression was unreadable, but there was an undeniable tension between the two of them. I braced myself for whatever was about to unfold, hoping that I could get out of this situation unscratched without further invoking their anger.

However, when they got to my side, they only sneered at me without stopping and just walked past me, which was a surprise to me because I had expected them to at least insult or throw threatening words at me.

Relieved, I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. As they disappeared into the distance, I couldn't help but wonder what had caused their sudden change in demeanor. Perhaps they were being cautious of their actions toward me because of what had happened in the dining hall, or maybe there was something else entirely going on that I wasn't aware of.
