Chapter 7

Alex

Needless when I saw the tray of lasagna aimlessly floating through the air it took me by surprise. Obviously I’m in a witch’s house why would something like that surprise me. I felt so embarrassed by my sudden outburst. I felt dad chuckle softly next to me. Everything up until this point had seemed so normal I almost forgot where I was.

Normally Ajax and I are so in sync, attuned and aware of everything going on around us, but since Sierra walked into the dining room and sat down across from us wearing that little low cut shirt he has done nothing but pace back and forth in my head.

‘Dude, seriously what’s going on with you?’ I questioned him

‘I don’t know something about this girl has got me going nuts. The desire to claim her is overwhelming’ Ajax replied

Suddenly I look over to her and she’s staring at me with so many questions burning in her eyes.

It was an interesting dinner to say the least. I know they’re just as curious about my kind as I am about theirs. I have an intense desire to get to know Sierra more, especially with Ajax being so weird around her. She wants to leave too huh? I thought I was the only one.

“Well it’s been a lovely dinner, thank you for the delicious food I think I’ll just head to my room now” I said. The whole table is in full discussion when I lean over to Sierra and whisper, “When my eyes change color that’s my wolf Ajax. Those are his eyes and sometimes he wants to come out to say hi”. I winked at her and let Ajax shine through and take control for a brief moment. I stood up ready to leave when Sierra says, “Well Ajax it’s very nice to meet you” with the biggest most genuine drop dead gorgeous smile on her face. The girl really is stunning to look at. Ajax at this point is practically salivating ready to stake his claim.

“He says it’s nice to meet you too” I manage to mutter before hastily making my retreat back to the guest bedroom completely taken aback by her. Was she really talking directly to Ajax. No one had ever done that before, given him that kind of attention.

As I head back to my room I scold Ajax. ‘Dude what the hell was that. You can’t just go around staking your claim on some random girl’

‘I don’t know I feel very possessive of her like she’s ours, and she needs our protection’

I shake my head. Whatever, but you better behave yourself.

Once I make it back to my room I start to get ready for bed. I throw on a pair of pajama pants and pull off my favorite Van Halen t-shirt when I hear a quiet knock at the door.

“Come in” I shout towards the door, expecting it to be my father. When the door swings open however Sierra it’s standing in the doorway. She takes in my attire looking at my bare chest and I swear I see her mouth go dry. I put on my biggest playboy smile and lean against the dresser in a nonchalant matter, as if she isn’t effecting me as much as I am her.

“Like what you see huh?” I say to her

“Huh? What?” She says breaking from her trance. “Sorry.. I uh… wanted to come to apologize. I’ve never met a real werewolf before and I’m afraid we haven’t been the best of hosts” she says apologetically.

“Oh that’s fine, I’ve never met a witch in person before either so seems we’re both in the same boat” I chuckle

“Well either way I want to make it up to you. After Elder Wynn’s ceremony tomorrow all the seniors are throwing a massive bonfire party on the outskirts of town and I am here to formally invite you” she says.

“I don’t know if that’s such a good idea….” I say. Ajax is practically prancing inside my head begging me to accept her invitation so we could spend more time with her.

“Well the invitation stands. If you decide to come find me after the ceremony and we can go together” she shrugs and walks out of my room, taking me in with one last glance before she leaves.

Hm a bonfire maybe these kids do know how to party. I decide then and there that I’m definitely going.
