Havermouth, Present Time

Aislen panted through her teeth in short, ragged gasps. She had wet herself and her jeans stuck to her skin unpleasantly, cold against her thighs, but that was the least of her discomforts and the initial humiliation had swiftly passed, washed away in the flood of agony in which a little piss was nothing but a small leak.

“Pain is fascinating, isn’t it?” Sparrow watched her face. “How people endure, and how they do not. My mentor told me that pain is weakness leaving the body. What do you think?”

“I think that I hate you,” she sobbed in a breath.

“You are very interesting,” he tilted his head. “No pleading. Most people in your position would be begging me to stop. Please don’t hurt me anymore. I’ll tell you anything. Please consider my unborn child…” He prompted. “There are worse things that I could do to you, Raven. Nothing I have done so far will do more than leave some bruises and a bit of blood.”

“I’ve been through something like this before,” she confesse

Why do men who think that they are in/have power always use it against women. Surely treating Ailsen good would benefit him better than using violence and threats! Awesome start to the latest book in the series, well done Everleigh keeping us all invested in the storyline xx
