Chapter 10 He Could Taste Something

"Young Madam..." The servants addressed Gwyneth as she walked out of the room on the second floor.

Gwyneth knew that Liam was the one who set this up, but there was no reason for her to get mad at the help. Hence, she stood in the kitchen and imagined that the egg in her pan was Liam. "What a psycho," she muttered.

"What? Are you disappointed that the only thing I did last night was spoon you?" A sudden voice sounded from behind.

Gwyneth was so startled that she nearly knocked over the frying pan. "Hey! Can you stop coming behind me and scaring me like that?!" She turned around and looked at Liam, mad at how he was acting and especially since he refused to sign the papers when he was the one who initiated the divorce.

"Hmm. Tell me what's worse, Mrs. Luther. Scaring someone from behind or talking shit about them behind their back?"

Liam examined the woman in front of him. She was in a loose loungewear with her hair tied up and had no makeup on, which gave her a clean look. He had never seen her like this, nor did he ever see someone look so well-kept. The way her head tilted upward while she screamed at him somehow cheered up his day.

"Since you already heard it, it doesn't count as badmouthing you behind your back."

'Well, she's still the unreasonable woman she was before.'

Irritated by Liam's remark, Gwyneth turned around and subconsciously cracked another egg into the pan, turning her breakfast into a portion for two.

Liam sat at the head of the dining table and could not help but be amused by Gwyneth angrily cutting her sandwich. He proceeded to cut his food and bring the fork to his mouth. After a few seconds, he froze.

"What? Afraid that I might've added poison in there? Your reflexes might be a little too slow, buddy." For some reason, Gwyneth was concerned about how Liam was acting. 'Is it because this is my first-time cooking for him?' She thought.

She did not know that the man's palms were already sweating. Unsure of what he had just tasted, Liam took another bite of food. He then put down his silverware and laughed. 'I've delayed this for far too long,' he thought.

"Let me tell you a secret," said Liam as he got up and walked up to Gwyneth. He leaned his waist against the table and looked at the woman from top to bottom.

"Could it be that Mr. Luther is invincible?" Liam asked.

Gwyneth put down her knife and fork when she heard that. Then, without fear, she looked up and met Liam's eyes.

"No." Liam shook his head and tapped his fingers on the table. "Actually, I have no sense of taste; no one knows about it. But I could taste something just now."

Though Liam blandly told his secret, Gwyneth was still stunned. Two seconds later, she began to snort and laugh. "I didn't expect you to pull something like that. But don't forget; I'm not like the girls out there. I won't fall for your—"

Before Gwyneth could finish her sentence, Liam grabbed her chin with his fingers. He gently rubbed her face with his thumb and narrowed his eyes slightly. He had never experienced a taste like that before. Just as he was about to say something, Gwyneth stood up and ran out of the dining room.

'Has he gone insane?!'
