Chapter 13 What's Your Name

People want what they cannot have; this was prominent in Liam's case. He pursed his lips and held out his fingers, gently touching the side of Gwyneth's face. He enjoyed the warmth.

Liam was a mess since he saw Gwyneth's burn mark at the hospital. He even tried to learn more about the differences between burns and scalds. It was not because he did not believe her but because the truth was too important.

Gwyneth frowned and grabbed his hand because Liam was disturbing her sleep. His pupils dilated at her touch, and he squinted his eyes to hide his feelings.

'This woman literally changed overnight after signing the divorce papers,' Liam thought. "Just how much are you hiding from me?" He asked as he slowly pulled away from Gwyneth's hand. He tucked in her loose hair, and the corners of his lips turned into a smile.

Liam had reoccurring dreams about the fire from his childhood recently. The smell of burned wood filled his nostrils, and the image of burning flames filled his eyes. He thought his life was going to end right there and then. However, a girl much smaller than him appeared unexpectedly and grabbed his hand without hesitation.

Liam closed his eyes as he felt the scorching heat from the flames. Suddenly, he heard a scream right beside his ears. "Ahh!" Liam knew that it was the sound of someone suffering from pain.

The two got out of the fire after some time. The sky was dark then, but Liam still remembered what the girl looked like. Though her face was covered in soot, she was beautiful.

"What's your name..." Liam asked weakly, his voice extremely hoarse. Unfortunately, he passed out before he could get the girl's answer. He was already in the hospital when he opened his eyes again, and the little girl was nowhere to be found.

"Mmm..." Liam heard a soft murmur and was pulled back to reality. He saw Gwyneth frowning, trying to change her sleeping posture. It was clear that she was not in a comfortable position.

Liam smiled faintly. He reached out, almost subconsciously, and pulled Gwyneth's body toward him, letting her lean her head on his shoulders. Gwyneth's breathing became faster, which stirred up something in his heart. He could feel her breathing and slowly closed his eyes after a few seconds.

Gwyneth slept unusually well after changing her position. When she heard the landing announcement, she slowly opened her eyes. Her neck was a little sore, presumably because she had slept in one position for so long. That said, she had never slept so soundly on a plane before. She usually just got to rest her eyes despite being extremely tired due to the lack of security she developed after experiencing a fire when she was younger. 'What happened today?' she thought.

Gwyneth tried to move but could feel that something was wrong. She froze for a few seconds. Then, she heard a voice coming from above her head. "Did you sleep well, Mrs. Luther?"

Suddenly, she became alert. 'I forgot that the psycho is sitting right beside me!' She thought, starting to stress out.
