Chapter 2

Sienna, who was before her, had bright eyes. She had ethereal, clear black eyes.

She was smiling slightly in a light-hearted manner.

Her previous aura of being quiet and submissive—like a helpless, easily intimidated tiny beast cowering in a corner licking its wounds alone—had changed.

She was just like a piece of light-emitting dusty gem. She possessed a confident and noble character that made others utterly unable to ignore her light, and her every word and deed was wise and prudent!

Clara’s eyes widened, and she panicked for no reason.

Was she mistaken?

Sienna, who was before her, seemed to be a completely different person!

She possessed a powerful aura, and she knew how to fight back. It seemed as though she was no longer a pushover as she was before!

Clara suppressed her inner doubts and acted coquettishly in front of the two men standing next to her.

“Jonas, Quentin, look. Sienna is really mad at me. You guys promised that you would apologize to Sienna, right? Do it right now, or I’ll be upset.”

After that, she looked at Sienna with a provocative expression, and she clearly meant: 'You pitiful little thing, take a good look at this. Your brother and your fiancé, whom you have loved for so many years since you were a child, are all on my side!'

Sienna laughed softly.

Clara’s words did not only confirm her accusation that Sienna had pushed her, but Clara was also secretly reminding Sienna that even if these two apologized to her, it was only for her sake!

Which one of these seemingly understanding words was not said to aggravate her?

If it was that pitiful girl who had been completely neglected and was always gloomy who heard this, she would undoubtedly experience chills and despair once more.

Unfortunately, it was now Sienna, the daughter of the Lang family in the capital city! She was a Goddess of War who had been on the battlefield and had always remained unchanged when she faced the enemy!

She really did not take this kind of petty tricks seriously at all.

At this time, Jonas stood up reluctantly and looked down at Sienna in a condescending manner as he said, “Sienna, I’ll apologize to you for Clara’s sake, but you shouldn’t be too smug about it. The victim here is Clara. She—”

Sienna cut him off before he could finish speaking.

“Jonas.”

Her voice was clear and extraordinarily pleasant.

Jonas was stunned when he heard Sienna calling him.

In the past, Sienna was constantly reserved, and she had a silent demeanor like a mute. He was taken aback now that she was calling out to him.

Sienna looked at him and said slowly, “Last night, when you guys were rushing Clara to the hospital, the people at the banquet shoved me into the river. They held my head down and refused to let me come up to the surface.”

“So?” Jonas frowned as he did not expect her to suddenly complain. “You were the one who pushed Clara down the stairs first. Otherwise, why would Clara’s friends treat you this way?”

The anguish in Sienna's heart resurfaced when she heard such an unapologetically justified comment. The pain that she felt when she was drowning was still fresh in her mind as she asked rhetorically, “So, you think that this is what I deserve? Do I deserve to be attacked?”

Jonas raised his chin slightly, and he was about to say yes when he saw Sienna smiling miserably. “But I can't swim.”

These words hit Jonas hard.

Sienna could not swim.

Those people had pushed her into the water and held her head down to prevent her from coming up. How was this act any different from murder?

Jonas’ pupils shrank a little, and he was stunned for a moment.

Clara spoke up and broke the silence when she noticed that Jonas was absorbed in his thoughts. “Sienna, I was to blame. If I hadn't passed out, Jonas wouldn't have neglected you because he was in a hurry to rush me to the hospital. Thankfully, you’re fine. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to live with myself!”

When Jonas heard this, he heaved a sigh of relief and said, “She's right. After all, you’re fine now. That implies that Clara’s friends also knew the gravity of their actions, and they were simply punishing you a little. They did not really do anything to hurt you…”

Did not really do anything to hurt her?

Sienna laughed out of anger.

The young woman opened her eyes in horror as she was about to drown and saw figures floating on the coast through the clear and transparent water. Those faces with mischievous smiles looked like ghosts when it was refracted into the water.

Hell was vacant, while Earth was populated with demons.

Did anyone know what the young lady was thinking of when she gave up struggling and sank to the bottom of the river amidst her jumbled thoughts?

She was thinking that this world was wonderful, but she would never want to experience it again. Never again.

Her life came to an end just when she was beginning to live. Which one of these executioners was innocent?

Sienna suppressed the coldness in her eyes and said word by word, “It's only fair that people pay for murder with their lives! Even if I am fine now, they are still under suspicion of attempted murder!”

Their crime was sufficient to warrant a sentence of more than ten years in prison.

Clara held Sienna’s hand and pleaded, “Sienna, we are all friends. You can just come at me if you’re angry. They only assaulted you on a whim when they heard that you shoved me down the stairs. But you are safe now, so please forgive them. If you want to place the blame on someone, you can just blame me, okay?”

Sienna smiled half-heartedly and looked at Clara’s hand that was gripping her tightly.

She experienced a sharp, numb, and excruciating pain coming from the back of her hand.

This was also the case last night. After Sienna had learned about the adulterous liaison between Clara and her fiancé, Clara had been sobbing as she began explaining things to her. However, she was secretly pinching Sienna, and Sienna had to shake her off.

When Sienna shook her off, this caused Clara to fall down the stairs. Everyone saw with their own eyes that it was Sienna who had ‘pushed’ Clara down the steps.

Sienna held Clara’s attention for two seconds. She then gave a half-hearted smile before she raised her other hand slightly.

Just when there was a triumphant look flashing across Clara’s eyes as she thought that Sienna was going to hit her because of the pain, Sienna simply placed her hand on Clara’s shoulder and smiled slightly.

“How could I possibly blame you? You're so innocent.”

But even though it was a light tap, Clara felt pain in her shoulder. Half of her body was instantly immobilized, as if someone had touched an acupuncture point in her body. She felt as if there were needles all over her body!

“Ahh!”

Clara retreated abruptly and slapped Sienna’s hand in a fit of rage as she questioned angrily, “What did you do to me?”

Behind the wheelchair, Jonas and Sienna’s fiancé, Quentin, who had not spoken, rushed forward immediately and promptly reprimanded Sienna, “Why are you so vicious? Clara has done nothing but say good things about you even though you pushed her down the stairs, but you are actually repaying her kindness with hostility?”

“Sienna, are you really that shameless?”

One was her brother, and the other was her fiancé from childhood. Yet the both of them did not believe her.

Sienna raised her hand and extended it in front of the two men.

There was a vivid slap mark on her fair arm.

Sienna raised her eyes to look at them as she said every word aloud, “Am I also the vicious one when she hit me?

“Are all of you blind?”
