Chapter Twenty-Five (2/2)

Serenia awakes alone in the morning with no sign of Kai, other than the slightly crumpled sheets on one side. She prefers this, being unsure how to react after a restless night of sleeping next to each other, this way she can lay in bed for a little while before she expects Sir Olsson at her door for morning training.

Washing her face quickly in the bathroom she changes into her training uniform and waits for Sir Olsson, but at least an hour passes, and no one has even come to offer her breakfast. She decides to wait a few more minutes before going to check the hall to ask a servant.

She catches one rushing by the room and calls for him to stop.

“Do you happen to know where Sir Olsson is?” she asks.

“Oh, my lady, what are you still doing here?” he asks in a panic.

She looks behind her, thinking he might be speaking to someone else, but that is ridiculous as she is the only one in the room.

“Where else am I supposed to be?”
