(Willow's POV)
It wasn't anything like what I watched in the movies. All my life, I thought shifting was just like magic. That's what they made us believe but the pain is absolutely unbearable. Like my soul was ripped out of my body.
But I still wasn't able to shift.
Jordan looked down on me pathetically and after an ear full of my pleas, he gave me back the necklace.
He left angry and I knew it. He is an ass but I felt like I failed him.
No matter how hard I try, I can't shift.
I parked my car in the driveway and walked into my house.
My mother was sipping coffee and was lost in her thoughts.
"Sweetie!" She gave me a huge hug.
"I'm only here to ask about my father and the necessary information I need because I'm still not able to shift," I stated.
"I have little knowledge about shifting sweetheart. How can I possibly know how it's done? Maybe a little patience" She smiled.
"I took off the necklace, but nothing happened. I thought I'll be able to shift immediately. Jordan tried his best too but he said it is left to me and I have no idea what to do" I sadly said to her.
"Oh sweetie"
"All I feel is pain. I want to be like dad because he needs to know that the person he was will never fade away. No matter what I have to do, I'll never give up and that is with or without you" I walked out.
All I wanted her to do was to reach out and hold me. She should have tried to make me stay.
Give into my emotional blackmail and agree to everything I say but she just stood there, watched me walk away.
Just when I needed her, I felt alone. And she doesn't give a shit.
Even if she is hurting, she should consider how I felt after finding out the truth about my identity.
I laid in Iris's bed and allowed the darkness to consume me but I couldn't sleep.
I became desperate. I needed to prove to myself that I'm capable of doing it.
Without thinking, I grabbed my phone and hoodie.
It's either I do this or accept that I'm a complete failure.
I stared at myself in the calm water.
The river was peaceful and quiet until I heard footsteps. It sounded creepy and I was scared.
What exactly was I thinking coming out here alone? I should have called Jordan or better still, stayed with Iris.
I don't even have his number!
"Hello? Who's there?" I whispered. It was like a horror movie. The girl in the forest screaming and running for her dear life.
Maybe it is Jordan. He is a douchebag but can he pull such a stunt just to scare me?
One thing I learned from the horror movies I watch is never to scream and run so I backed away and tried to be in the shade because the moon was up and bright.
I don't want to be spotted or watched by who may or may not be my predator.
"Jordan?" I'm now scared for real. I felt watched and about to be devoured.
"Hey princess!" A man jumped out of the bushes and leaped at me.
I thought my heart was gonna jump out of me but then I saw Jordan's figure.
"Jordan!" I laughed and lightly hit him but he didn't budge.
"Haha…" He deeply laughed and caressed my face.
Oh well, guess he isn't Jordan. He looked smaller and I couldn't see his face.
"Let go of me!" I shouted but he pinned my hands to the grass.
"I see Jordan has a new little pet and he is not sharing" The disgusting man licked my face.
"Get off me!" I shouted again.
I watched him bring out his claws and scratched me across the face. I felt blood dripping down my neck.
"Ouch!" I cried.
"If you promise to be a good girl, I won't hurt you," he laughed.
"You're a psychopathic maniac! Let me go!" I screamed and before I knew it, I saw him fly and hit a tree.
I quickly got to my feet and Jordan was standing right in front of me. He ignored me and went to pick up the other guy.
"I warned you to stay off my territory!" Jordan angrily stabbed him with a knife that made him screeched as his body slumped to the ground.
I ran and hugged him but he peeled me off him.
"What the hell are you doing here!? Don't you own a goddamn watch!?" He angrily held my arm.
"I couldn't sleep and…"
"Take sleeping pills! Don't you ever come out here at this time again, alone" He warned. "I'll take you home"
"You just killed someone"
"Not the first nor the last"
"Is that like a werewolf kinda thing? Because I won't be able to forgive myself if I kill anybody" I smiled but the look on his face wasn't amusing.
"You're bleeding" He pointed at my face and that was when the pain kicked in. I wiped the blood but I could still feel the wounds. "Take off your necklace" He ordered.
"But why?"
"I hate it when I'm questioned. Just do what I say"
Well, I might as well learn to listen to him since he obviously knows everything and not to mention he saved my ass.
The moment I took it off, I felt my face go numb and when I felt it with my hand, the wounds were gone like I never had them.
"Can you also do that?" I happily asked. Now I understand how I healed quickly from the accident.
"No. You should understand that everything is not as it seems. You are being watched every minute. You can be attacked any moment. Not everywhere is safe, you should know that and a place like this is not a place for you"
"But I'm one of you," I replied. It was sad that he outed me.
"You are not one of us! You can't even protect yourself. You can't even shift so what gave you the temerity to call yourself a werewolf?" He angrily spat.
"I don't have to shift…"
"Then what good are you? You're just another pathetic human"
"I have werewolf blood flowing through me!"
"You can't call a spring a river now can you?"
"I'll prove it to you" I tried to take the necklace off again but he roughly held my hand.
"I am sick of your pathetic attempts" He growled.
"I know I can do this" I felt liquid flowing down my cheeks.
"Get a life Willow. Go back to your mother, get a job and live like every other human. There's nothing for you out here. You don't belong to the wild because there are a lot of animals here waiting to devour you and there's nothing you can do to shield yourself"
"Just let me try again. I promise…"
"You are coming with me!" He threw me over his shoulder and walked away from the river.
Jordan took me back to Stella's house.
His words kept ringing in my head prompting me to want to be a full werewolf.
I have to show him I can do it.
I need to know the way of the howl.
(Willow's POV) No matter how hard I tried to look for Jordan, I never succeeded. Nobody seemed to know him at all and it became frustrating. Two weeks and I heard nothing from him. I tried to take his advice and move on, get a job but I couldn't bring myself to do it. All I wanted was to be with my kind and it wasn't fair that he is depriving me a chance. I tried to do it myself but I almost died yesterday. It was harder considering the fact that I have no one. I can't even open up to my new best friend and it is killing me. I felt anger. I felt disappointed. If I can't go to Jordan, maybe he will come to me. The last time I shouted his name, he appeared. But I have tried that already. I went to the river eight times just to shout his name but he never came. I even looked deep in the woods but nothing! The only difference was that I was in danger and it was dark. Just maybe, if I scream for help in the woods at night, he might show up. But what if I get into real trouble?
(Willow's POV) I felt his eyes as they bore into my skin. I quickly sat up and hugged my knees to cover my breasts. Why won't the earth open and swallow me? I wished I could disappear. I didn't dare look up because I was pink with embarrassment. What is going through his head? Is he looking at me or looking away like the gentleman he is supposed to be? I gathered enough courage to look up and he was staring right at me. My heart jumped to the pit of my stomach. He didn't say anything and we just locked eyes. I couldn't read his eyes. "Have the decency to look away" I glared at him. "Nothing I haven't seen before" He casually said. Was he for real? "I can't go home like this" I tried to shield myself with my hands but it was useless. "Get up" He ordered. I blinked and waited for him to make sense but he just stared back. "W...why?" I stammered. "I can't go home like this, '' I repeated. "Okay then. I guess you'll be spending the night here. I'm leaving" He took a few s
He looked out the French windows with a pen clicking in between his fingers. His current investigation failed and he is stuck. Regardless of how hard he tries, it always leads to a dead end. "Jordan" A man with brown eyes walked in. "What's new?" Jordan swirled his chair to face his beta and friend. "We have nothing" The man replied with a slight bow of his head. "And Willow?" "She is at the river, as usual" "You left her alone? You know she should never be alone" Jordan stood up. He knew he couldn't trust Willow to be on her own. It's either she seeks for trouble or trouble seems to find her so he had to keep a close eye on her. "Don't you think you should bring her here? She is a werewolf" Japh said. "She doesn't belong here. Not every werewolf stays with its pack. Do you know how many wolves choose humanity over their wolf?" "But she wants to be here, that's the difference!" Japh exclaimed. "I know what's best for her because she doesn't know it," Jordan replied. "A
Willow couldn't tell what was happening because she was blinded by tears and speechless with fright. Two of the men shifted but Jordan didn't.One moment she was crying in a corner, the next moment, Jordan and a brown wolf bashed in tossing and stabbing the three drunks who tried to rape her.Jordan looked straight at her. His eyes filled with anger as blood dripped down his hands. As much as she was glad that he saved her, she dreaded going close to him. Something wadded her off but she still found herself wrapping her two shaking hands around him.Japh shifted and put on some of the clothes he found in the cabin. He gave Jordan a cloth to clean his hands. She quietly cried on his chest and for a moment, he let her until he painfully grabbed her arm."I regret ever looking for you" Jordan growled and dragged her out. Japh cautiously followed them."I just wanted to…""You didn't have to do anything!" He let her go with a slight push. "You are a problem!""We need to keep moving guys"
Willow stared at Jordan. He just stood at the door. No expression and no movement. His eyes shifted to her body and back to her face again. Willow cursed herself for wearing his shirt. "Hey Willow" Japh walked into the house. "I'm Japh. Jordan's beta. I couldn't introduce myself earlier due to…" "I understand" She finally took her eyes off Jordan and followed the other man in. "Are you alone?" He hardly looked around. "Yes. Um...They are all out" She said, trying so hard not to look back at Jordan. "How are you?" Japh asked. Willow smiled when she saw the genuine concern in his eyes. She wished Jordan was more like Japh. "I'm good" She said and watched Jordan from the corner of her eyes. He finally walked in but moved as far from the both of them as possible. "Well if you need anything, let me know. I want to help in anyway" Japh slightly tapped her on the shoulder. "Thank you Japh…" "You are coming with us to the pack house. You need to inform your mother right now" Jor
Willow looked around the room.It was bigger than Iris's room and it looked okay to her. Everything was set and neat. The room consists of a bed, side table and a comfy looking wingback chair. The bathroom was connected to a walk in closet and the bathroom windows overlooked a beautiful view of wherever she was.At some point, she thought she'll be living in the woods and eating fresh meat but this is completely comfortable and perfect, too perfect!"Until you receive instructions, don't leave your room. Here's your key" Star said with a straight face and tossed the key at her."Thanks" Willow caught it. "And thanks for showing…" The door slammed shut. "... me around"Willow threw herself in the bed and wondered if everyone's room was nice like hers. This is a new beginning for her. She quietly vowed to do her best and make herself proud."Most especially Jordan"Willow jumped when she heard the voice again."Who are you?" Willow looked around. What is following her? Is she talking to
Jordan and Star chased after the wolves who took Willow. There was nowhere to escape so they were captured and Jordan didn't waste time sinking his teeth into their throats when they refused to provide important information during the interrogation. "I told you to triple your defense! We cannot have them attacking us anytime they want!" Jordan furiously said to Star. "I'm sorry" "I don't want your apology! I want you to do as I say" He walked to the window and watched some wolves clean up the blood on the training grounds. "Star did triple the defense. I think their strategy is to keep attacking until we are weak" Japh said. "If you are so good at strategies, why don't you put that to use and prevent this from happening?" He took a deep breath. "We have pups here. Nothing can happen to them!" He turned to Japh. "Take the pups to Woodville. They are better off staying there. This place is no longer safe for them. Whoever is attacking us is mainly focused on Willow. Star, nothing s
Willow walked to Jordan. "I was just taking a stroll with Japh," She said to him. "Jordan" Rowan called with a smile. "Rowan" Jordan replied but turned to Willow. "Aren't you supposed to be training at this time?" "Isn't too early..." "Go" He ordered. "Can you walk me back?" She asked Japh who happily left with her. "I just brought my boys out for a run" Rowan moved closer to Jordan. "How was Jamaica?" Jordan asked. "It was more receptive. And the Storm Riders?" "Good" "Well, gotta run. See you around Jordan" Rowan saluted with two fingers and shifted disappearing into the woods. Willow walked into his study. "What?" He looked up from his desk. "Why did you force me to come back here when I have nothing to do?" She asked. "Nothing to do? You are a fucking guardian wolf! You know what that means? You are to guard the pack not roam around with strangers" He hit his pen on the table. "He isn't a stranger. You and Japh know him" "He is to you" "Okay fine! I want you to
