Prologue

“I think it’s time for you to accept Anna as your wife as we agreed, son,” Mr. Wess said as he looked at his son.

Nadia was busy scrolling through her tablet looking into her boss’s schedule while his conversation with his parents ended.

They were going to be late for their next appointment at this rate.

“I can’t marry Anna, Father,” Dean Wess answered his voice calm and booming through the room.

“Why? You promised that you would marry her by the time you’re thirty. You can’t keep going on like this, son,” Mrs. Wess said softly as she reached out to touch her husband’s hand.

Nadia didn’t bother to lift her head to look at her boss. She knew what kind of expression he must be making. And from the way he kept tapping his finger on his leg, she was pretty sure that his annoyance was reaching its max levels.

“I can’t marry Anna, Mom,” His voice came out soft, he was always weak to his mother’s pleas.

“I already have someone I want to be with,” He added.

Lies…

If she hadn’t personally booked his hotel room for the weekend and contacted his companion, she would have believed his innocent voice. But the man was a notorious player and there is no way that he was going to settle down any time soon.

“S-Since when? Why didn’t we hear about this before?” His mother asked softly,

“Because we were trying to keep it under wraps, we didn’t want everyone to know,” He said and Nadia would have snorted out loud if the situation allowed it.

Funny how believable the man sounded.

“Did you know about this, Nadia? You must have known since you’re always with him,” Mr. Wess said and Nadia looked at him dumbfounded.

“I- Uh…” She stuttered.

She hadn’t counted on being included in this conversation. Dean didn’t give her a heads-up. And looking at his parents’ expectant faces she didn’t know what she was supposed to do.

“Of course, Nadia knows about this, Father,” Dean said with a smile as he reached out taking her hand away from the tablet and threading their fingers together as he gave her a soft, gentle smile.

Woah! Where did that loving sweet smile come from?!

“She’s the one who stole my heart leaving me with no choice but to wait for her after all,” He added grinning down at her from ear to ear.

His heart?! When did the man have a heart for her to steal in the first place?! And why was she suddenly involved in this?!

Nadia's heart raced as Dean's words hung in the air, a mixture of shock and disbelief etched across her face. She was certain her palms were clammy, and a jumble of thoughts swirled in her mind.

How did she end up in this surreal situation?
