Mia's POV

Somehow, I eventually fell asleep while watching Allen. The next morning when I woke up, he was gone as usual, but I wasn’t really bothered today. In fact, it only made it easier for me to get up and get ready for the day.

After a bubble bath, I wore a black shorts and a gray shirt, I used a bit of makeup to hide the dark circles under my eyes, then I packed my hair into a ponytail and headed downstairs. I needed my daily dose of coffee before I started the day.

I was about to enter the kitchen when I heard two people talking. My eavesdropping habit instantly kicked in. I stayed glued to the wall beside the kitchen and listened to what they were saying.

“I’ll go back to LA the day after our parents' anniversary.” I recognized Austin’s voice immediately.

“That’s good.” I heard Allen say. There was a pause and I thought they were done, I was about to enter when I heard Austin speak up again.

"I'm sorry for missing your wedding."

“It's okay, I know it was the day you came back
