Leena’s POV
“Leena, Leena..!” He tried to get a hold of me but I quickly walked out of the living room. The ladies he wasted himself last night were still lying drowsily on the armchair and ground.
“Please, let me explain myself.” He grabbed my hand.
“Explain yourself? Why?” I scoffed, looking at him with disinterest.
“What happened last night? I’m really sorry.” He lowered his head, feeling guilty and I smirked.
“You have nothing to apologize for, Mr. James. We already made ourselves clear.” I spilled bluntly.
“Someone spiked my drink last night, that was why I brought them home. I had no idea that I was home with them…” He paused. “Checking the CCTV camera, I’m dimwitted towards my action.” He said dolefully.
“You know you are good at playing this game. But you owe me no apology and I don’t believe you. Live your life as you please and don’t disturb me.” I shunned him.
“Trust me, Leena.” He didn’t let me go and I turned my back on him. “Yeah, I’m a cheating husband but after our wedding, I had decided not to bring any woman home. What happened last night, I really have no idea about it.” He shook his head and I sighed.
Luckily, I managed to take my hand away from him.
“Suit yourself, fucker.” I spat at his face before leaving the wide compound.
I felt his eyes on me the whole time and the actions of last night clouded in my memory.
Who would believe such an excuse? I wasn’t a fool.
The way he screwed those women? That showed how desperate he wanted it.
I strolled into a trending saloon in the street. The saloon was one of the best and fancy in the city and big women visited the place for hair and spa treatment. Fortunately, I was friends with the owner of the place and she had promised to help me with a job if ever I was stranded.
As I was about to enter the saloon completely, I saw Jane and three huge-looking men. Immediately, I hid behind the makeover room, staring at her anxiously and wondering what she was doing there. It was still early and the saloon hadn’t opened officially.
“Did you do what I asked?” Jane’s eyes rolled from each of the men and they nodded.
“Yes, ma. We made sure he went home with the hot chicks.” One of the men nodded and my interest rose. What were they talking about?
“Did you make sure the girls were ovulating?” Jane’s brow raised.
“Yes, Ma. We also added enough doses of the drug. Mr. James won’t know himself after everything.” I almost gasped when I heard the man’s statement, using my hand to cover my mouth.
“So, Jane had a hand in this? Is she trying to ruin my marriage or ruin the man she loves?” I wondered inwardly as anger permeated through my eyes.
She gave each of them a bunch of dollars before strolling out of the saloon. I was in a daze for a few minutes and could only break out after hearing a shout from my corner.
“What are you doing here?” The person cried out.
“Oh…! Ma.” I greeted. She was the owner of the Saloon.
“Yeah, why are you here?” For some reason, her attitude and tone towards me were different. I wanted to ask her if something had happened but something stopped me.
“Ma, you know... you promised to …” I couldn’t finish my statement when she shunned me.
“Please, leave my shop. I’m no longer interested in keeping poor and useless people. I also don’t want to see you within my shop axis.” She yelled at my face.
“But Ma, we were….” I didn’t finish my statement, and she slapped me.
“If you don’t leave, I might do this again.” She fired at me.
My hands were on my face as I left the saloon.
What was going on? Why was she rigid with me when we were close in the past? And Jane, what was she up to?
The fact I was bothered didn’t hide, rather it showed on my face.
But something distracted my attention and I left myself to swim in my illusion.
It was my dream heels, displayed on the showcase. Due to curiosity, I walked into DREAM MALL, with the hopes of asking for the price of the shoe. Inwardly, I knew it was an expensive place but then, it helped me escape the bitter reality I was facing.
“Hello.” I waved at one of the sales reps at the counter.
She gave me a long look from my head to my toe before nodding her head reluctantly.
“How can I help you?” She asked.
“That shoe.” I walked over and took a pair then I walked back to her. “How much is it?” I raised an anxious brow as I got a clear view of the sparkling silver heels.
“Hey, give that back.” The sales rep quickly snatched it from me, I wondered what was happening.
“Do you know how expensive it is? This shoe cost $100 million.” She spilled bluntly and my eyes widened, I tried not to gasp.
“You can never purchase it in your entire life.” She hissed.
“Give it to her.” I heard a thick masculine voice from behind and when I turned around, it was James.
Now, I didn’t know if I should despise him or pity him since he was a victim of Jane’s game.
Though reminiscing on how he screwed those women annoyed me. For some reason, secretly, I wished it was me.
“James?” I was surprised to see him.
“That shoe, give it to my wife.” His voice was filled with authority and seriousness.
“Sir, this is Natalie Taylor's first edition heel. It can never be found anywhere.” The sales rep reminded him.
“My wife deserves to wear it more. Give it to her.” I felt loved for the first time, seeing how he fought for what I loved.
“I wish you could be only my playboy.” Unexpectedly, these words escaped from my mouth.
“What did you say?” His eyes diverted to my corner and I swallowed hard, feeling super nervous.
Leena’s POV“I asked you a question, Leena. What did you say?” He turned, facing me and I cleared my throat awkwardly.“I…I didn't say anything. Honestly.” I lied with certainty and he smirked.Inwardly, I felt he heard what I said because it was somewhat loud.He sighed softly and narrowed his eyes back to the mall attendant.“What are you waiting for? Package the shoe for my wife.” The sound of his last words ‘my wife’ caused my heart to shiver.“You don't have to do this.” He ignored me as we walked to the cashier point. All eyes were on me. They never believed that I was married to a rich handsome man. Besides, my dressing was way out of his league. He leaned on the counter, giving me a sexy stare as he flirtatiously winked. He was making things hard for me on my own end as my cheeks were burning hot.“Do you want anything else, sweetie?” He curled his lips.Oh goodness, he was truly a born player.I swallowed hard, shaking my head.“No, I'm fine. This already is too much.”Sudden
Leena's POV“Doctor, I got your call.” I ran into the hospital like one whose world was about to crumble. The doctor lifted his gaze and returned it to the file he was reading.“You are here.” He grumbled.“My apologies, I left my phone on silent all through the night. “ I began.“I came here as soon as I saw the missed calls. Is everything okay?” I rambled with words impatiently and he sighed heavily.“Mrs. Leena, it's about your brother.” He said and my gaze became intent and anxiety lingering in them.“What about him?” I asked.“He hasn't been responding to treatment since yesterday, the first and second surgery we did wasn't successful. We tried to suppress his bleeding but his condition isn't good. And you know you haven't paid any money in yet, we might close the case.” After he calmly explained to me, his voice grew cold.“Please bear with me, Doctor. I'm supposed to make another payment but funds aren't forthcoming.” I began dolefully.“This is not my hospital, Leena. I only a
Leena's POV“James, how about you go ahead while I finish my business with him.” I suggested, curling my lips.“And you think I will foolishly leave you with another man?” He snorted in annoyance, making me astonished.“But… this has nothing to do with you.” I stuttered, trying to remind him.“It seems you have forgotten that you're my wife.” He walked over to me and grabbed my waist, my neck bone straightened as his touch sent sharp jolts of shivers up my spine.I tried to hide my flustered cheeks.“Young man, what does my wife owe you?” He asked Mike seriously and Mike rubbed his chin.I tried to signal him not to say a word but unlike anyone, Mike loved money. He knew I might not be able to pay him immediately but seeing how influential my husband was and the kind of building we are living in, it was easier and faster for him to get his money back with enough interest.“You see… the thing is… your wife here is owing me the sum of $500,000 making it a total of $650,000 including int
James POV“You did the same thing again, didn't you?” Harry, my personal assistant said as soon as I stepped into my penthouse.“Why? Is it bad?” I raised a brow, turning the wine into the glass.“Well, she might be getting it all wrong again. I mean, no one will believe that video calls are fake. I doubted it the first time you showed it to me.” He shrugged.“Let her think whatever it is but I don't want her to rely on me first nor do I want any vulnerability.” I informed him coldly.“Boss, Miss. Leena needs to know who you really are, and your true nature so she wouldn't get the wrong details about you.” He said dolefully.“Harry, are you in love with Leena or something?” I intentionally tried to tease him, curling my lips.“Of… of course not, boss.” He rattled out, stuttering and I laughed.“I'm only concerned about her. Right now, she thinks you're a playboy.” He frowned.“Do I look like I care?” I drank from the glass, nodding my head as I walked to my study room.“Back to busine
Leena's POV“James, there are some things that doesn't need to be spoken, you know that right?” I raised a brow, staring at him.“True but I have to explain what happened earlier.” He insisted while sitting down on the dining chair.“I'm not interested.” I said bluntly and he looked disappointed and sad.“What?...w… why?” He stuttered nervously, staring at me.No doubt he was scared because of the way I would have reacted after seeing his video call.“Have you forgotten we didn't marry out of love?” I raised a brow, staring at him and he swallowed hard on nothing, while staring at me.It was high time I got used to it and also knew my position in this relationship. It wasn't only him that had the right to remind me of our contractual agreement.Besides, I didn't want to get my hopes up in his life as he didn't look like one who was willing or ready to settle.“Leena.” He trailed off, attempting to touch my hand but I pulled it away.“As much as it's a contract marriage, I didn't have
Leena's POV“Yes, I do.” The word left my lips fluently and to back it up, I gave him a deep kiss which he impatiently retaliated, kissing me passionately. As the kiss grew intense and we tore each other's clothes away, I squeezed the duvet and licked my lips hungrily.“Wake up, sleepy head!” I heard a familiar voice, sounding so alluring in my head.Wait! It was a dream? Or not?Which part was a dream?I gradually opened my eyes and found myself in the master bedroom, James was before me, holding a tray containing mouth-watery breakfast.Toasted bread, scrambled eggs, sliced fruits of Apples, cucumbers, and watermelon, a glass of hangover drink and coffee.Maybe not everything was a dream.I stumbled out of bed.“Give me a sec.” I said, rushing into the bathroom.I washed my face and arranged my hair so as not to look like a morning demon before returning to the room.He was still there, waiting for me with a broad smile on his face.“What happened last night?” I asked him calmly, si
Leena's POV“Hey, are you okay?” He broke the awkward silence in the car and I nodded my head nervously.“Yeah, I think I'm.” I muttered.“The students looked surprised to see me… did you happen to check about me online?” He wiggled his brows and I chuckled.“You're really one mysterious person, James. Which should I believe? A crippled or a rich Billionaire?” I questioned, rubbing my chin.“About the crippled stuff, that's the only way for my stepfamily to get at me. It's fake, you know.” He sighed.“And the rich billionaire, do you want me to believe that?” I asked calmly, raising a brow.“Of course. If it was a lie, your course mates would have suspected it. I'm quite popular.” He bragged, tossing his hair to the side which gave him a charming look.“You should start trusting your husband.” He added.“So, which companies do you own or work for? And why haven't you told me anything about it until today?” I gave him a suspicious look and he laughed shortly.“About that… you will have
Leena's POV“Why isn't he back?” I groaned as I checked the time and grumpily stepped down from the bed.It was 2:35am.I have been drowsily waiting for him but I hadn't heard the bell ring or car engine from the garage.I wrapped myself in my sleeping wear and went downstairs.“Should I call him? He left in a hurry though.” I didn't know why I was anxious and worried about him.I stepped out of the living room and stood at the entrance, scanning the yard with my eyes.I spotted the car he had left with, it was in the garage.“Is he back?” I muttered to myself as I returned to the living room.I checked the guest rooms downstairs but was welcomed by its silence.“Where is he?” I grew worried, my hands trembling as I tried to dial his number.“Still awake, princess?” His voice gave me sharp shivers and my phone fell from my hand.He turned on the light in the dining room, he was wearing his sleeping wear too.He grabbed the glass cup and approached me.“I… I didn't know you were here…”
