Chapter Forty-Five

Vanessa’s POV

I placed my hand on my chest, feeling for the necklace I had grown so fondly to love over the past few years. Demetrius gave it to me a few years ago.

I’d never forget that day. It was a symbol of a family we had made together.

The ringing sound from my timer startled me from my train of thought. A small smile formed on my face when I realized what it meant.

The cookies I had been baking were finally done.

Sighing in content, finally getting sometime to myself. Lila was at daycare, Bentley was at school, and Demetrius went to work. It was the first time in a while that I had time to myself.

Ever since I moved in with Demetrius and we had the baby I barely had anytime to myself. It was family time all the time. Not that I was complaining. I loved my little family.

Soon enough, it was time for them to come home. Waiting patiently, I allowed the cookies to cool on the cooling rack before placing them on a dish.

“Mommy!, you baked cookies” I could hear the excitement
