Ch 1

Elora's day always starts with a dream. This dream was a bit different from the one she has when she sleeps and this dream was the type they call daydreaming. She was the shy and quiet type and she was so characterized by this that a lot of people didn't know about her existence. One of such people was Drew Summers, the only person Elora dreams of recently.

With every passing year since she turned sixteen, she has always found herself falling for him more and more even though he didn't even know her name or what she looked like. Yet, Elora was happy and satisfied just to love him and the biggest reason she was satisfied with her one-sided love was the girl currently calling her phone this morning - Gina.

It's been months since Elora and Gina talked and it was because she was dating Drew. Drew had this policy that Omegas must never come near him and since Elora was what he would consider less than an Omega, she could never tag along. Elora really didn't want to answer her best friend's call but she knew that Gina would not stop calling until she answers the phone so she answered the phone reluctantly, dreading whatever her extroverted friend would have to say that morning.

" Hello?" She said, her voice croaky and weak as she spoke.

" Oh my God, are you still sleeping? It's like 10:30 am Elora!" Gina yelled over the phone so loudly that Elora had to move the phone away from her ears before she suffers hearing loss.

" I'm aware of the time Gina, what do you want now? I'm not supposed to be awake until 11:45 at least!" Elora whined over the phone. Her lips curled into a small smile as she could already picture the scowl on Gina's face because of what she said.

" Look, I don't give a damn about your daydreaming schedule. It's gonna have to wait because today is Drew's birthday and I'm throwing a party for him." Gina said, sounding so desperate over the phone.

"Oh ..."

" What do you mean oh? I need you to come to my place ASAP because I need all the help I can get with this"

" Sure... but didn't you guys start dating like three months ago? Don't you think you're going a little too far with this?" Elora asked, hoping that her friend would see reason with her and cancel the birthday party. That way she could keep daydreaming about Drew being hers instead and Gia being the supportive friend instead.

" Don't be ridiculous! Drew and I have known each other longer than three months and we've loved each other even then. Just cause we made it official three months ago doesn't mean I should be nonchalant about the nineteenth birthday of New Moon pack's future Alpha!"

" Okay okay, geez. I'll be at your place by 3 today though" Elora said, yawning and stretching on her bed.

" You wanna die, right? You've got 30 minutes to get here!" Gina threatened over the phone and Elora started punching the air in regret for having such a controlling best friend. " Ugh! Fine! I'll be over there soon!" She said, quickly hanging up before Gina gets any more ideas.

She got up from her bed and took a good look at herself in the mirror on the wall opposite her bed. " It's been so long. I didn't think another day of being Gina's invisible friend would come but, I guess that's better than whatever I am doing right now.," she said, just as she always does every other morning.

She took her bath and got dressed in about fifteen minutes. Since she still had half the time left, she had some cereals and decided to help her mother Giselle with the groceries since she will be going to Gina's place which isn't far from the grocery store.

Her phone rang again and she answered, " Hey just meet me at Sarah's we'll go together okay? I'll text you the address." Gina said before immediately hanging up. The text followed soon after, containing the address and with a sigh, Elora left the house and headed for whoever this Sarah is. While inside a bus, her phone buzzed and it was yet another notification from Gina but this time it was her social media page. She uploaded a picture of Drew that he took in an airplane and at that moment Elora knew she would faint if the picture loaded and if she faints she will not be able to meet up with her friends, so she just ignored the post and tried to think of something else.

When she got to Sarah's house, she saw that Gina and about two other girls were waiting for her in Gina's car and it didn't sit right with her. She didn't want to be in a car with girls she knows nothing about. She watched for a month and sighed as she watched all the three of them looking so beautiful in the car, Gina the most beautiful with her brown skin. shining in the sun, her signature long and black hair that she loved to weave in two braids, adorning it with gold accessories that made her look like a princess. Even the way her edges were laid looked so flawless, there was no way anyone couldn't want to be Gina.

" Oh my god, Gina let's go. Nobody cares about this girl you haven't spoken to in months. Besides, it would be a bad record if when Drew comes he smells that skunk all over you. Please let's just go!" One of the girls said. She had red hair and green eyes, she was Celine. The girl who had now replaced Elora as Gina's new best friend.

Celine's words cut through Elora like a wound but Elora refused to let it stay too long, even though she wondered what would make Celine call her skunk. 'Did Gina tell her anything?' she wondered.

Elora could see the hesitation in Gina's face before she suddenly laughed and said, " okay whatever. Let's go. I don't wanna smell odd when my boyfriend comes."

" Besides, you need to smell terrific so that Drew can pick up that ravishing scent of yours- "

"- and declare me his mate in front of everyone!" Gina cut in excitedly before they all giggled and Celine drove away at reckless speed.

" They're changing her," Elora said as she watched her only friend. The only one who knew everything about her, saying that she didn't want to 'smell bad' because of her. The Gina she used to be friends with would never say something like that to her. Never! It used to be her and Gina who daydreamed about Drew but Elora never admitted it so Gina thought she was the only one involved. This is why when Gina told her that they could no longer be friends because Drew is now her boyfriend, Elora acted just as she always has; like she didn't care about Drew and gave Gina the go-ahead to date him.

Now, she can't even speak with her best friend with confidence especially when they are in the public eye. She never even thought she would ever hear from Gina again especially since Gina stopped waving at her at school and started ignoring her completely.

The fact that she was less surprised by Gina's call than she ought to have been really made her wonder if she no longer finds things surprising anymore.

Her phone buzzed again and it was a message from Gina. " Something came up. I'll just see you at the party later. See you later. Oh by the way this is Drew's address. Love you!" Elora read and scoffed.

She was definitely not going to Drew's birthday party. Not after what Gina and her friends said about her. Even if this makes Gina angry, she does not care. She won't be going. At least that was what she said until she found herself sitting in the backyard of Drew's house, under a tree.

She was too loyal and she knew it would hurt her yet she came anyway. As Elora sat down, she was thinking about how her loyalty her caused her too much humiliation. She is loyal to Gina despite the things Gina and her friends said about her and she wasn't even getting any appreciation for it. She texted Gina saying she had reached Drew's house but Gina didn't reply.

She sighed, getting used to being shoved aside from her friend's life and she wasn't complaining about it since she has always been used to being ignored. However, the thing she couldn't get used to was sitting around in a corner of someone's house while high school students partied like there was no tomorrow.

" Damn, this sucks!" Susan, one of the girls from the school Elora goes to said, coming out through the back door. Since Elora wasn't expecting any conversation to start between her and Susan, she plugged in her headphones and was about to start jamming to her favorite boy group song when Susan looked at her and began to head her way.

" God no..." Elora panicked inwardly before Susan reached her.

" Hey, aren't you... that Ella girl?" she asked, holding a drink in her hand as she watched Elora with eyes that screamed mischief.

" It's Elora," she replied calmly and said nothing else because she thought that was all Susan wanted to know.

" Okay, whatever. Your friend's looking for you," she said and slurped the alcohol in her cup.

" Oh..." Elora said and just looked at nothing in particular.

" Oh? shouldn't you go see her?" Susan asked, glaring at Elora but Elora wasn't stupid. She knew what Susan was trying to do and she wasn't going to fall for it.

" I would but... Gina..." She paused because she noticed she was going to stutter if she does not take a deep breath. After shutting her eyes and taking a deep breath she continued, " Gina's my friend and I know her very well. I'm sure she would've called if she needed me...and my phone hasn't rung yet so... I'll just umm stay back." Elora said this timidly all the while avoiding Susan's glare but she knew that there was already a vicious scowl on the girl's face.

" Why you little-" Susan was saying when Elora's phone rang followed by loud cheers coming from inside Gina's house.

" Susan, what the hell are you doing over there? Come on in, Drew is gonna be here in like five minutes! he'll soon be here!" a girl said excitedly as she stood by the back door. Susan immediately forgot about Elora and ran inside the house, squealing and jumping excitedly with the other girl.
