Ch 5

" Please don't kill them!" Elora begged in a faint whisper as she stood in front of her mom ready to prevent her from going any closer to the glowing furs of the wolves who were still sleeping soundly.

" Kill them? No. I won't do that." Her mother said staring at Elora with a hint of disappointment. It was almost as if she was saying, " do you really think I'm a monster?" With her eyes.

"but Elora. Where did you find them?" Her mother asked folding her arms and watching Elora closely.

" They came to me. I mean, the other was wounded, I mean the mother."

" There's a pup?" Her mother asked as she moved closer but Elora didn't let her get any closer.

" I'm not going to harm them, Elora. I just want to see."

" No," Elora said vehemently but she didn't know why she was so against Giselle touching the wolves, she just felt the need to.

" Imprint" she heard her mother whisper before she looked at both Elora and the wolves.

" What?"

" Never mind."

" What are you going to do to them now?"

"Nothing. You should go to sleep but they can't stay here. Other werewolves will NOT be as understanding as I am" she said before she started to leave.

" Wait. Have you...seen anything like this?" Elora asked because she suspected that her mother's calm response must mean that she has seen something like this before.

" No," Giselle said before she shut Elora's door. Elora wished that she could tell whether or not her mother was lying but...she decided to trust that she didn't lie.

Her mother was a great warrior before she became sick and during that time she witnessed so many things that she isn't allowed by the pack to disclose. Elora believed that must've been the reason she wasn't surprised to see glowing wolves on her bed. When you have seen so many strange things you won't act so surprised anymore by those strange things.

Elora went back to bed and the wolves instantly cuddled up against her as if they had been waiting for her. That night, she slept so peacefully and had the most beautiful dream ever but when she woke up the next morning, she couldn't remember the dream and the wolves were gone!

" Mom!" She yelled and went in search of Giselle only to find her mother vomiting in the toilet in her room. She looked and saw that it was blood and she instantly turned away.

" I'm fine," Giselle said as she wiped her mouth clean and flushed the toilet. Elora suddenly felt guilty because she didn't rush into her mother's room to check up on her, she ran because she was certain her mother did something to the wolves but she was still in her pajamas and her hair was still messy. She obviously just woke up to so much pain and went to the toilet only to vomit blood.

" You're not fine," Elora said holding back tears. Giselle never told her the whole truth about her time as a warrior and no one is willing to even notice Elora's existence let alone speak to her about what the truth about Giselle could be. But the way her mother Giselle kept suffering and battling this strange illness on her own was something Elora couldn't understand.

If Drew's father could allow her mother to bring someone who is a human into the pack -! something that is clearly against their rules, then what is stopping them from finding a cure to her ailment?

" I am fine. The medicine I took is working"

" By making you vomit whatever the hell that was?"

" Elora, language!"

" What language? I didn't even say fuck" Elora said feeling very irritated by how her mother was being too calm about something that any sane person would find alarming.

" Why are you doing this? You can ask Drew's father for help. He will help you."

" He is. All the drugs I take are given to me for free. There are just no fast-action drugs for it. Besides, they said I would most likely vomit whatever is causing me this problem and it will be nasty the first time so I promise you, this is not a big deal." Her mother assured her but Elora was still so bitter.

"Why is this illness only affecting you? Where did it come from?" Elora asked as her mother wrapped her in her arms and brushed her hair with her hands.

" I don't know but I promise to pull through so that I will always be by your side. I promise Elora, please trust me." She assured Elora who just ended up crying while her mother patted her back.

" Where are your furry friends? It's about 5 am I think, we need to get them out of the pack" she said when she saw that Elora had stopped crying.

" Umm...they're gone," Elora said, feeling like crying all over again.

" What? Just like that? How did they leave?"

" I don't know. Maybe I should check all the doors and windows again. If they're all shut then...I guess they left by supernatural means? I don't know what to say " Elora said feeling double devastated.

" Maybe they'll come back to you." Her mother said but Elora refused to entertain the thought. She was sick of having false hope. Why does she even do that anyway? Elora muttered when she left her mother's room some moments later.

" Are you ready to go to school today? I saw you sleeping in your room yesterday."

" Yeah. I am" Elora said, purposely refusing to tell her mother about what doom awaited her at school.

She got ready for school and tried as much as possible to not delude herself that she would have it easy at school that day. She wanted to be alert and prepared for anything and everything.

She could barely even eat her cereals that morning because whenever she got nervous her stomach feels like there was a large rock inside it and she starts to sweat like crazy.

" Are you ok? The fan is on but you're sweating so much" her mother asked.

" Yeah. Actually excited for today." She lied. This was the only lie Elora was used to telling without getting caught by Giselle and this was due to years of lying to Giselle so she would not worry about her.

" Alright. Eat your cereal already. You'll be late for whatever you are excited about you nineteen-year-old."

There was nothing for Elora to even look forward to as a nineteen-year-old. Not even a boyfriend or...a mate. The word mate just slapped a very painful memory into her head and she just stood up from her stool in the kitchen and smiled at her mom. " I'm ready to go now. Thanks." She said before she threw her backpack over her shoulder and ran out of the house.

It was stupid to her that she was running towards the thing that was presently causing her to hurt all over again - Drew. But what other choice did she have? She just had to go.

The second she reached the school gates, she was a little shocked that people still acted like she didn't exist. Her surprise soon turned into happiness when she entered the school's white and blue balls and saw that no one was giving her weird looks, not even people with whom she has the same classes!

" Maybe I am fortunate after all" she squealed within herself even though on the outside she kept a blank expression.

" Hey! Elora!" Celine suddenly called from behind her and her inner smile dropped. She wanted to turn around but Celine just threw her hands over Elora's shoulders.

" How are you slut!" She said out loud for everyone to hear and Elora just shut her eyes in regret.

No one cared about her existence until Celine decided to call her slut. Her friends especially Sarah, were laughing at what Celine had said.

" I'm talking to you bitch!" Celine said pushing her index finger against Elora's head when Elora said nothing.

" I'm n-not a bitch" Elora muttered with a slight stutter.

"Can't even get a word out without stammering. Gross. " Celine said looking at her from head to toe. Elora was so disappointed in Gina because these girls never liked her but at least they didn't bully her because Gina wouldn't let them. Now, Gina must've given them the go-ahead to do and say whatever they want to her. If the roles were reversed she was certain she would not do the same to Gina, yet here she is.

" Fuck she smells of so much humanness. So vile! Ugh! Spray spray!" Sarah said spraying what was definitely not a perfume in Elora's eyes.

" Stop! My eyes!" Elora yelled amidst the surprised whispers of the other students watching who seemed to care more about the fact that she was human than Sarah "accidentally" spraying pepper in Elora's eyes.

" Oops. Pepper spray. I swear I thought it was deodorant. At least you smell different" Sarah said and her companions started laughing hysterically while Elora felt like her eyes were boiling in lava. She couldn't even see anymore and she wanted to cry but even that felt so painful.

" What the hell is happening there? Why did you do that Sarah? Are you mad? " She heard a familiar voice say. The person sounded so provoked by what Sarah had done. If Elora's eyes weren't in severe pain, she would've wondered if this person has lost his senses.

" Sorry Drew. We just wanted to put her in her place" she heard Sarah say as several angry footsteps reached where she crouched on the ground with her hands in a tight fist.

" I'm sorry Elora. I'll help you." Drew said and pulled her up. Elora felt like crying again because she never thought that drew would show her so much kindness.

" Thank you" she muttered as she waited for him to lead her to where he would probably help her wash her eyes with water. The thought of that intimacy caused her to have goosebumps.

" You really want to be the damsel in distress so bad right bitch?" He said whispered in her ears before using her face to slam against a locker. He hit her so hard that she started to bleed in her nose and others started clearing the way for him to pass while Elora wailed in pain.

He loved it when people feared him and Elora was going to be his scapegoat for a long time probably until she dies. And the best part is no one except those at the party will know why she is being treated that way. They will all assume it's because she's a human and they will follow suit in bullying her too. This was his cold-hearted thought as he walked past everyone who was making a path for him to go through.

" Impressive. All hail the future Alpha of New moon pack who will not hesitate to beat up someone for absolutely no reason" he heard a voice he had hoped he would never hear say and when he turned around he saw his long-time nemesis. The person he hated just as much as he hated Elora. Roman, his older half-brother.

" What the hell are you doing here?"

" This is what you think people look forward to happening when you start ruling them? Ah...your brain must really reason backward" he said instead of answering Drew's question then he carried Elora in his arms before he sped off out of Drew's sight.

" Was that Roman?"

" Damn he's changed so much."

" He's so hot and mysterious."

"I'd do anything for him to carry me."

Hell, Drew should've just beaten me instead."

He heard Celine and her dumb friends saying and got so irritated to know that his brother had come and in barely a minute stole the attention of the whole school and it was all because of that stupid girl Elora - Drew thought.

Meanwhile, Elora was taken to the sick bay to wash the pepper spray out of her eyes and after a while, she could see. But the first face she saw was that of the man who had seen her earlier when she wanted to crossover into human territory. She wanted to gosh over his handsomeness but stopped herself because she was in pain and she wasn't supposed to care about this guy who is just a guy and nothing more. She suspected that he probably was just as evil a Drew

" Hey. Are you okay?" He asked but she said nothing and just sat up on her bed and kept the small mini fan close to her eyes. She wanted to just ignore him but she ended up saying," Leave me alone"

He sighed and clasped his hands as he looked at her. " That's what I did when I saw you crossing the barrier yesterday but suddenly you're here. Even going to school. Something tells me there's a reason why you're allowed to be here, so here's the deal. You tell me why a human is going to school amongst wolves and I won't tell anyone what you did"

" Are you blackmailing me?" Elora gasped as she looked at him.

" Pretty much." He said smacking his lips afterward and acting like there was nothing wrong with it.

" You're just like Drew" she scoffed but he grabbed her wrist and looked her in the eye as he said, " DON'T EVER SAY THAT AGAIN. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?"

When he realized he had let his wolf slip, he closed his eyes and looked at her again.

"I'm nothing like that boy. I didn't save you for show. " He said letting go of Elora's wrist. " Now, start talking" he added but Elora still said nothing. Roman was taken aback because he had never seen someone who was not afraid of him and it made him want to know more about this girl.
