THE LUNA'S PAIN

THE BEGINNING

The eastern part of Greenmay was said to be a mystic place filled with the wonders of nature, the supernatural and beauty beyond what the human eyes couldn’t phantom, and Karen was going to rule it.

Karen Digwe, the most talked about in the town, it was only a few weeks ago that she was announced to be mated to the one and only Allen.

Allen Robert the son to Alpha Benson Robert, the soon to be alpha of the Okami clan which was famous across the Eastern parts of Greenmay, they were known for their strength and teamwork.

Karen was on top of the cloud but some jerk thought it wise to play with her feelings and emotions.

They went as far as photo shopping the picture of her husband-to-be Allen and her best friend Oyin which was a very wild accusations, Oyin was like a sister to her, they were both only girls born into the midst of boys.

Karen clenched to the letter in her hands, this was the second time she was receiving such a letter. It bothered her that she didn't have an idea of who had sent the letter, what was more frighten was the letter was warning her not to get married to the soon to be Alpha, her fiance who she loved with all her heart.

She stared at the same line for a while as her eyes read the words over again, she felt really hurt as she ripped the paper into two equal halves, Did people not want her to be the Queen? Was she as ugly as they said she was? was the throne not fit for someone such as herself?. Her thoughts rolling into her head along with tears that rolled down her cheeks, she stood up from where she sat and walked to the mirror in the bathroom staring at herself.

She could see a fat young lady in the mirror, from the top of her head to her face, to her stomach and then to her foot, Karen couldn't help but feel like the names she was being called fit her properly.

She proceeded to clean her face with water before dabbing it dry with a clean towel she’d picked up from the drawer in the bathroom before walking out of the bathroom. Karen took a deep breath of relief before staring at her gown, today was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, she tried putting a smile on her face, with her eyes still set on her dress.

" Karen! Karen!! Are you done yet?" a very familiar voice cried from outside the door along with a loud knock.

" I'm coming" she replied trying to put herself in order, not to give away the incident that just happened a few minutes ago, before opening the door to see her best friend, Oyin Walker.

Oyin Walker, had been her friend right from the womb, if only it was possible, they both shared the same birthday and shared everything just like sisters, growing up together their bond became stronger and this was the very person who was been accused of having an affair with her fiance.

" What's this? why aren't you ready yet?." she asked staring at the supposed bride, Karen didn’t know what exactly to tell her, she had never lied nor kept any secret from her before, but she couldn't tell her the reason for her worries and sadness, it wasn't going to make her happy in any way, knowing Oyin, she would probably hunt down the person and make him or her pay dearly for it, which Karen wasn't a fan of.

But Oyin could tell that her best friend wasn't as happy as she ought to be.

" What's going on? Karen, are you alright?" She asked, as worries swept her mind.

" No, it's nothing, I'm absolutely fine" she chose to conceal the truth from her,

" We both know that's a big lie, don't you tell me nothing, I can clearly see that something is definitely wrong, firstly it's your wedding day and you're not dressed, to top it all that smile on your face is totally fake. So tell me what's going on" she inquired one more time.

" It's really nothing, I was just thinking maybe all of this is a dream and I will wake up one day to the reality of things"

" and what reality is that Karen?" Oyin asked trying to understand what her best friend was saying.

" That everything I have now, I wouldn't have them and I will just go back to being a regular girl by the side."

" Does this feel fake?" She said as she pinched her on the cheeks.

" Ouch!! What was that for?" Karen cried in pain

"See that proves it, all this is real"....

" I know but...."

" Karen, how many times do I have to say it, you're a beautiful, kind-hearted and above all you deserve everything that you are receiving now and even so much more, I don't see why you would think you don't deserve this" she said with a smile, hoping her words would sink into Karen's head.

" I know you've told me this a thousand times but I can't help the feeling"

" Then you have to throw the feeling into the trash today." She said holding Karen's hands in hers.

" Today should be the happiest day of your life Karen, trust me everything is definitely going to fall in place. I'm sure you're just feeling nervous because it's a very big decision in your life but you should remember not all of us are as lucky as you to get married to the soon-to-be alpha" she said with a smile on her face.

Karen couldn't deny the truth, not everyone could be in her shoes, she was definitely over thinking the letter, it could be the writer was nothing but jealous. " You're right, I'm just thinking too much really"

" You think?"

" Haha, stop it" Karen chuckled,

" Do you feel better now?"

" Yes, thank you, I have no idea what I will do without you here"

" And that's why I'm your soulmate and I'm going to be by your side forever" Oyin said before hugging her best friend. " Now let's get you changed and ready to walk down the aisle" she said as they both girls turned towards the beautiful gown hanging out the side of the room.

As Karen walked towards the door of the hall for her wedding, she could feel the excitement of her wolf. Of course she would be excited, she's about to get married and mated to the man of her dreams but at the same time she could feel her heart weeping she couldn't understand why but it brought anxiety and fear along.

She turned to her father who held her hand " Dad, I'm scared" she said with fear in her eyes

" Sugarplum everything is going to be fine, you're starting a new life of course you're definitely going to be scared, I'll be worried if you weren't scared" he said turning all his attention to her.

" Was this how you felt getting married to Mom?" She asked

" Yes, I was so scared but when I saw her all dressed up the butterflies were too much to contain" he smiled at her, the memories flooded in. " I wish she was here to watch you become a beautiful woman and wife. Not just that you're also going to become the Luna of our pack, she would have been so proud".

Her father words were comforting despite the fear she felt, " but I feel this isn't real" she spoke.

" Then you have to remember, if it's only a dream.... We'll always wake up eventually" they both chorused the last sentence together.

" I will always be by your side no matter what" he said before giving her a peck on the forehead, " It's okay if you want to call it off, if you're having doubts"

" No, No, I'm fine" she answered before taking a deep breath. " If it's a dream I'm going to wake up eventually" she muttered the words once more to herself before walking into the hall.
