Chapter 32

RUBY'S HEART WAS pounding with every step she took but she was determined to make it out of the ship. All the time she had spent there, she had felt nothing but worry and regret. She wondered if she had been charmed by Henry. The only thing she cared about at the moment was getting back to the guardians, especially Jared.

It was in the early hours of the morning and the sun was not up yet. As she sneaked out of the ship, the rush of cold wind that hit her gave her goosebumps immediately. She shivered a little before picking to her heels.

The early morning sun was unforgiving as the intensity of the heat increased. Ruby wiped the beads of sweat off her face as she ran. The temperature of the sun was not in her favor at all. Nevertheless, she held her pace. There was no way she could have guessed that the ship was located in the open forest, one she was familiar with. The same forest outside of the city she had met Alex.
