"CAN YOU HEAR me Jamie?"."Yes I can". Hearing Jamie's voice lissed Jared. He had been constantly attempting to communicate with Jamie telepathically for few minutes from his room, all his efforts proved abortive. He didn't give up as he knew Jamie could hear him but the difficulty was perceiving whatever sound that emanated from Jamie wherever he was. JUST LIKE THE regular afternoons, Jared was sitting on the couch at the center of the lobby with indistinct chatters filling the area as students kept parading the lobby back and forth in groups to get food. Everything was normal except that Jamie was not sitting with him in the lobby today."Are they not supposed to eat in the dining hall?". He thought out loud as he saw Santiago, Wong, Alessia and Dawn, lined in a semi circle digging their spoons into a cup filled with ice cream and spilling some of it on the floor at one corner of the lobby.It was against the rules to eat in the lobby but it seems like the rules were exceptional to the likes of Santiago, Wong, Jamie, Lily, Alessia and Ruby. JAMIE'S ROOM FELT cozy and seemed larger than Jared's room both in width and length. The loud bang that followed the shutting of the door startled Jared which made him turn to face the door. He was completely shaken up by the Post Malone poster glued to the door. "I never knew you liked Post Malone". Jared said smiling, shock written all over his face. "Yeah, I do. We've just never spoken about music". Jamie replied and slumped down onto his bed. Jared was taken aback by Jamie's creativity. He never knew Jamie could be so orderly. Fairy lights were lined up at the right side of the wall, close to his queen size bed that was horizontally placed at the right corner of the room. A welcome purple themed rug covered the first half of the room, leaving the other half of marble floor exposed and shiny. The bed was placed partly on the rug and partly on the marble floor. "You mean Ruby is a witch?". Jamie asked as he kept pacing the room in anxiety."Yes". Jared groaned. He was laying on Jamie's queen size bed and was resisting the forceful urge to shut his eyes and drift to sleep. "Why do you seem so scared?".Jamie stopped pacing and sharply turned to face Jared like someone who had spotted a ghost and needed to reaffirm what he saw."You don't have any idea how dangerous magic is, do you?". Jamie's face bothered with concern."I do. But, why make such a fuss about it? She has not harmed anyone yet. And I'm astonished at how you don't feel sleepy. I honestly don't think I will make it through the day and in the next one hour and few minutes, Alex will be knocking on my door. Ugh! my head hurts". Jared said as he managed to sit up on the bed. "You mean she dived right into the kiss, like she made the first move?". Jamie asked pacing the room. Jared was beginning to realize that pacing was an involuntary action for Jamie. He paced whenever he was excited, scared or worried. "Yes, get a hold of yourself, you were not the one kissed Jamie". Jared chuckled. "Okay". Jamie heaved a sigh and sunk into the chair adjacent to the bed at the far end of the room. "But how do you feel about all of this?". Jared's face twitched. "All of what?". Jamie sat upright on the single leather seat. "You said she has magic and now, she's trying to get involved with you. Don't you think there's something sinister?". Jared pondered over the question and he knew it made a lot of sense. What if Ruby saw him the night he followed her and was trying to win him over or prevent him from revealing her secret but was going about it in a cunning way. "I don't know what to think. SARAH BURST INTO laughter after Michael performed a folk dance. She had not felt comfortable with people as much as she felt comfortable with her new friends in a very long time. They all spoke about how they lived before they discovered their abilities and it gave her more insight on what her writings entailing extraordinaries should be. Henry was the only person that seemed not to be interested in whatever fun they were having. He was either reading a book or locked up in his room. Sarah considered him egocentric but she adored the way he valued Zoe. He and Zoe often went for short walks and she imagined Zoe seeing his smiling face outside of the ship that they never got to see. Zoe was also fun but whenever she sits in front of the monitor, she's totally disconnected from the world. She is pretty much the tech-lady of the crew, keeping them in touch with recent developments in the city, hacking into security systems and gaining access to individual and company computers. Zoe

DESPITE EVERYTHING JARED'S sixth sense had revealed to him as he surfed Ruby's feelings, memories and thoughts, there was still a knot in his stomach regarding her. He was coming to the conclusion that the lady he saw employing magic to sneak out of the Fortress wasn't her when a voice called his name. It was no other person than Alex. Alex could tell that Jared was not meditating even though his posture said otherwise. He had given the boy a day off the day before, could he probably be up to another trick to get another day off? Nevertheless, he let his voice ring through whatever Jared was actually doing. "Jared". He called softly but there was no response. "Ruby wasn't the one I saw the other night". Jared snapped, trying to explain to Jamie the misunderstood situation with his lover but Jamie didn't seem to be accepting his sudden change of claim. "Oh, Mr lover boy, one night of snugly cuddle with her, and she has been able to brainwash you", Jamie scoffed. He felt disappointed that Jared would easily let his guard down but love is said to be blind, he should have expected it. "I was in her thoughts, feelings and memory, she has no bad intention whatsoever. Her feelings are true". Jared was determined to convince his adamant friend that he had wrongly accused his lover. "So, you can read minds now? So much for a telepath that can't tell when he's being deceived", Jamie scoffed.
