2-Bonding

I hugged my parents for the last time before following Dylan out of our house. My mom had been crying since Dylan arrived at our house this morning. She couldn't stop talking about how much she would miss having me around. My dad tried to console her but it only ended up getting worse. Dylan had packed my bags earlier, not that I have much to pack, just my suitcase and my duffle bag.

I waved at them before I got into the car and buckled up.

"Drive safely." My dad said for the one hundred and tenth time today.

"I will, Uncle max." Dylan said before starting the car and we started out in Toronto. As soon as we left our driveway, I started to miss my parents.

"I'm gonna miss them." I said quietly, staring at my palm.

"I'm gonna miss my family too but hey, we'll meet a lot of new people and it'll be fun." Dylan said with a lopsided smile.

I started to feel sleepy. I could barely sleep last night, I was just sneezing and shivering from the cold all through the night. Ahh, it was all thanks to that rude jerk from yesterday.

I sneezed again.

"You okay?" Dylan said when he noticed the tiredness in my eyes. He casted a worried glance at me before looking back at the road.

"No, I'm not. I met with this rude handsome guy at the ma-"

"So, you're not okay because of a guy??" Dylan cut me off.

"No, listen," I put my legs on the seat, making me earn a side glare from Dylan. He had told me several times to stop doing that. He said it was unladylike, but it is what it is.

"So, I met this guy yesterday, he is so fucking handsome but rude at the same time." I explained as I remembered his handsome face, but frowned when I remembered what he did.

"I still don't get why you're not okay, did you get beaten by the rain?" Dylan asked, confused.

"Yes, I got beaten by the rain because of that guy. We had a collision outside the mall and he said some really rude things to me. He said I was blind and that I have eyes but wasn't using them and that I irritate everyone around me." I said angrily.

"What! He really said that?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, I hate this guy."

"Good, cause I hate him too." Though he's so hot.

I closed my eyes and yawned loudly, I could get some sleep before we arrived in Toronto. It's going to be a long drive. Dylan noticed I was falling asleep so, he reduced the volume of the song that was playing on the stereo.

--

"Woah, this is nice." I said as I inspected my room and the bathroom. My hostel is located a bit far from school premises. My roommate was yet to arrive. Dylan dropped my suitcase and my duffle bag on the floor, setting to leave for his own hostel which we had earlier been to.

My breathing spikes and my heart started to beat at an alarming rate. I was scared. Scared for college, what is to come, everything. Will my roommate like me? Will I like my roommate? What if we don't get along and we end up fighting each other every day?

What if I'm not able to cope in class and I lose my scholarship? What if...

A large palm settled on my shoulder, calming me down.

"Shea, relax. You'll be fine. My hostel is right around the corner, if you need me, I'll be here." Dylan said in a soothing voice.

"I'm just really nervous, what if I screw up and lose my scholarship?"

"Hey, you won't. You're smart, talented and intelligent, okay? Everything is going to be okay." He gave me a bear hug and that made me really calm down as he rubbed my shoulder gently.

Dylan was never nervous or scared of anything in his life. I'm always the scared one and he has always been there for me.

After I had eventually calmed down, Dylan went back to his own hostel, his roommate had arrived already.

"I can do this." I said to myself.

I placed my bag on the bare bed at the left side of the room. I cleaned the room and started to arrange my stuff. I put my books on the table in the middle of the room. When I was done, I looked around and smiled. I undressed and went to the bathroom for a hot shower. Just when I was done, I heard someone knock on the door.

That's probably my roommate.

I opened the door and it revealed a tall skinny brunette, she was eerily pretty with her perfect tanned skin, hazel eyes that twinkled as she stared down at me, her brown hair was packed in a neat bun making her high cheekbones more exposed.

"Hi, I'm Samantha Walker. We're roommates." She said with a pretty smile.

"Oh! Umm- hi, I'm Shea. Shea Collins." I replied with an awkward smile as I opened the door wider for her to come in. She walked in gently with her two suitcases as she observed the room. She dropped her suitcases at the right side of the room- which will be her side because I had picked the other side.

She walked back to me and offered me a handshake with a wide smile.

"Nice to meet you Shea, I hope we get along."

"I hope so too." I said as I shook her hands firmly.

"Great, and oh! By the way, you can just call me Sam, for short. I'm a freshman, what about you?"

"Freshman too." I was really awkward at making conversations with new people, probably why I don't have a lot of friends. Just Dylan and a few back at highschool.

Sam seems like a friendly person, now I don't have to worry about us getting along or not. She's the type that obviously gets along with anybody.

She started to unpack her things while I just sat at my corner staring at my phone. I had replied to all the messages from my parents so I decided to watch a movie.

After unpacking and arranging her things, Sam started to put posters of movies and celebrities on her side of the wall. I guess she's a fan of K-pop, cause she added a poster of a popular Korean boyband- BTS. My sister was always crazy about them before she got married. Jimin was her favorite and she had almost all his pictures on her phone.

"Shea, I heard there's gonna be a party tonight." Sam said as she put her books on the table and sat on the chair in front, facing me.

"What party is that? I don't know anything about it." I said as I removed my earpiece.

"It's for freshmen, I think."

"Okay." I said dryly. Every party I've been to in highschool was a disaster, I've always gotten into one trouble or the other.

Whenever Dylan's friends who were on the basketball team threw parties, Dylan always invited me, sometimes I go and sometimes I don't go.

I get wasted easily, another side of me shows up and starts doing embarrassing things I would never do when I'm sober. There was a time Dylan invited me to a party, with just 2 shots of tequila I was wasted. I threw up all over his shirt and in my mom's favorite cooking pot, I was grounded because of that.

There was another time I got wasted and posted some nasty pictures on my i***a. Luckily for me, Dylan noticed it before it went viral and deleted.

"I think we should go together." Sam said, she stood up from the chair and sat on my bed.

"I'm not going. I have to rest."

"But tomorrow is Sunday, there's plenty of time to rest before classes start on Monday."

"Come on, Shea. it's going to be fun, and we'll have some bonding time together, as roommates." She whined and pouted her lips . She was already holding my hands.

Roommate bonding at a party. Sounds fun to me.

"Okay, I'll go with you." I finally agreed.

"Yes!!" She squealed and got up from my bed, she undressed and started to walk to the bathroom, but she turned around to look at me.

"Oh! And I heard some hot guys on campus are gonna be there." She giggled and went into the bathroom for a shower.

I hope I don't regret agreeing to go to this party.

--

Sam and I were standing in front of the club as people were going in and out of the place. She had lent me a short black gown with a slit at both sides while she wore a simple blue gown.

"Woah, you look even prettier." Sam said as she stared at me, the light from the club reflected on the both of us.

I don't always agree with people when they say I'm pretty cause I don't think I am. But I smiled at Sam.

I had texted Dylan and asked him if he'll come for the party but he said he wasn't sure yet. Sam and I were waiting outside the club for him.

Me: Are you still coming??

I texted him again, getting impatient, my legs are starting to ache in this heels.

Dylan: Sorry, doing some things with my roommate, see ya tomorrow.

He texted back almost immediately.

"Let's go, he won't be able to make it." I told Sam and we headed inside.

The inside was hot, dimly lit, filled up with sweaty people dancing and brushed up against each other. The music was loud and almost deafening. I quickly held onto Sam's hand so I wouldn't lose her.

She said something as she turned to face me but I couldn't hear anything.

"What??" I shouted over the music.

"I said, let's go and get some drinks." She said loudly so I would be able to hear her.

I nodded my head and she pulled me to the bar that was less crowded. We had a shot of vodka each before Sam pulled me to the dance floor.

She moved her head close to my ear and shouted, "Come on, dance."

I moved closer to her and shouted, "I don't know how to."

"Just move with the beat."

I started to shake my body and dance to the beat, a wide smile appeared on my face as Sam cheered me on.

But, my smile dropped when I looked at a corner behind Sam and a pair of eyes were watching me. His green eyes looked darker due to the dimly lit room. I gasped, it was the handsome rude guy.
