His mother was taking longer than normal to wake up, which had him worried. He’d done everything he usually does to get her to wake up, but nothing was working. He was growing impatient, especially with his mate away from him.

And when he felt a surge of panic go through him, he knew it wasn’t his.

His mate was potentially in danger.

The door to his mother’s room opened and his eyes widened at the woman who walked in. She was a carbon copy of his mother, rushing over to Queen Hyacinth. She picked the woman’s head up, cradling it.

“Come on Yara, you can’t do this to me,” she pleaded.

Hale stood, frozen at what was happening before him. His mate’s fear was temporarily forgotten as he took in the woman before him. He never knew that his mother was a twin, and he didn’t know how to process what was going on before him.

“Haleth,” the woman spoke softly.

That got him out of his stupor. “Who are you?”

“How long has she been like this?” the woman asked him.

“Who are you?” he instead repeated.
