Seeing an omega owning a business is already odd in their society, what more an omega CEO? Klyde Rehan has always been the odd one. Used to defying everything that comes his way, even his parents. Say I Do CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
The two of them stared at the king-sized bed at the center of the room. Two nightstands stand on opposite sides, with lamps on them. A dresser stands on its side too, a big built-in closet is adjacent to it. His eyes drift back to the bed, his body remaining frozen from where he stood. “Why is there only one bed?” he whispered, repeating his question. “My secretary booked it for me,” the alpha answered after a while. Klyde turned to look at him. Wade was now also staring at the bed.“We’re the only ones who know about our arrangement.” Right. Fuck. Of course, but still. His eyes traced back to the bed, and on its cleanly made sheets, pristine and looking incredibly soft. There are four big pillows on it, and right now, the sight looks so inviting to Klyde. He wants nothing but to finally lie down, feel the soft sheets on his body and bury himself in the pillows. But obviously, he can’t do that just yet. Should he just sleep on the couch? Klyde zipped his luggage shut, patting it for good measure. He eyed the things he has yet to pack and sighed. Although he had already settled everything he needed to settle before leaving, for some reason he still feels anxious about the trip. He spent the past days completing tasks and leaving reminders for Von in case an emergency occurs in the company, not that emergencies usually happen. The days are usually just quiet. He knows the beta is responsible, he has proven himself, but maybe the problem is with Klyde now. And maybe, leaving isn’t really his problem at all. His problem lies more on what’s awaiting him for the trip. A knock resounded from his door. He turned his head to the direction of it, before quickly standing up to open it. He opened the door, leaving only enough space for his head to poke around and behind it is Wade, already dressed. “Hey,” he quietly greeted, wondering what the alpha wanted. It’s still hours away from their flight. They still have a lot of time.

Today, Klyde went home with the intention to cook dinner. He did not originally plan it, but he got off work pretty early, even earlier than the times he did before. So, he figured maybe he can cook dinner. He’s been cooking breakfast after all, why not try dinner too? It’s four in the afternoon when he entered the apartment. The whole apartment is bathed in the afternoon light bleeding from the floor to ceiling window near the stairs. Klyde disposed his things first on the living room floor, before dumping his body on the plush couch. He sighed. He can’t remember the last time he wasn’t at work during this hour. His eyes roamed around the place, taking not of the apartment’s every nook and crevices. It’s a wonder how the apartment looks so cold despite having two people already living in it. And just like that, a routine has been made. Now, Klyde wakes up extra early to prepare breakfast for two. Although Wade told him it was unnecessary, he felt it in himself that he really wanted to do it. So, he continued. He began his search of simple breakfasts he could make quickly. The grocery stocks they have actually started decreasing, and it brought a semblance of normalcy to him. He somehow misses his old apartment because of it, not that he cooks there but he had many instant foods on his pantry too. But he’s glad he’s somehow settling here okay. The sound of Wade’s footsteps as he climbs down the stairs has become a usual sound to him that he doesn’t even flinch nor get bothered by it anymore. After over a week of this set-up, it has slowly become his norm and honestly, that thought is terrifying. “Eggs again?” Wade asked in a teasing voice as he pulled out a stool to sit by the counter. Klyde woke up early the next day. He basically passed out after his dinner last night so it’s a wonder, even to him, how early he woke up today, given that he was bone tired.His body still felt heavy, his moves sluggish, but no matter how much he still wants to lay in his bed and maybe come to work later than usual, he can’t bring himself to sleep as his mind is already running from his thoughts again. Instead of drowning in them, he figured he should just get up and cook breakfast. Maybe he’ll have a proper meal of breakfast for once. So, that’s what he did.He walked down the quiet apartment and made his way to the kitchen after freshening up, not even bothering to change out of his sleeping clothes. He got some bread he got from the grocery a while ago, it’s surprisingly still unopened. Actually, cut the surprisingly, he doesn’t really cook nor eat in the apartment that much

Klyde sagged on the seat of his car, the back of his head bumping at the headrest, hands resting on the steering wheel as he gently killed the engine. He heaved a heavy sigh. He feels so tired, even more so than usual. The events of today left him with whirlwind of emotions, and now he just feels really, extremely exhausted. Fatigue is creeping into his bone, seeping into his mind leaving it buzzing like an empty television screen. Eventually, when he found the small strength to move his body, he stepped out of his car. The soft sound of its closing door left an empty feeling on him. It’s as if he’s floating as he trudged his way to the elevator. His footsteps are heavy, much like his heart at the moment. “No,” Klyde said firmly, putting down the spoon he was holding not so gently beside his plate. He’s scowling, he’s aware. But he can’t help it when he just heard an absolute nonsense form the alpha in front of him. Of course. “What do you mean ‘no’?” Wade asked, much too calm for Klyde’s liking. He’s almost simmering with rage, and the alpha is acting like what he said was nothing. Wade even lightly dabbed his mouth clean with a napkin. “No as in no, Wade.” “I don’t follow.” “Of course. You’re an alpha. Since when did your kind understand ‘no’ as an answer?” What he said was probably too much, judging the way the alpha’s eyes squinted at him and his posture suddenly became too stiff. But Klyde, at the moment, was blinded by his own anger to even acknowledge his wrong.

The sound of the door opening must have caught the alpha’s attention, because as soon as it opened and Klyde stepped into the room, the alpha was already facing him from where he was standing in front of the glass wall behind Klyde’s table. “Wade,” he greeted, forcing himself to sound casual. The alpha’s eyes raked over his form, left brow rising. “I thought I was babe?” Fuck him, actually. Klyde gave him a forced smile. “What are you doing here?” “Can I not visit my husband?” the alpha asked, head slightly tilted to the right. Klyde sighed and stepped further in the room. He walked to his table, standing a safe distance away from it. The alpha just watched him. “What are you doing here?” he said, repeating his question.

To say that Klyde threaded through the holidays peacefully would be a lie. A huge one at that. Because he didn’t. The memory of their kiss on the Christmas eve is still haunting him, and every time he closes his eyes, it’s as if he can still feel the alpha’s lips on him. And Klyde feels very frustrated because of it. Even now, as if on cue, the memories of that night flooded his mind again. They both walk back to the party, Klyde walking ahead of the alpha. His lips are still tingling both from the cold and the kiss, and he still feels quite breathless because of it. He bit his bottom lip to stop himself from replaying the scene in his head, but it only made him remember the kiss more. He casted a brief glance to the alpha walking behind him. He hates how Wade looks relaxed and unbothered, while he is nearly freaking out. When they entered the venue again, he released a breath in an attempt to calm himself.
