Prologue

I somehow managed to pull myself up to the front steps of my home “The Scarlet-Blade pack” - my knees buckled as a flash of burning pain overtook every inch of my thoughts. Shredding them to pieces right before my eyes. I couldn’t focus on what was in front of me- only the burning pain that felt like it was melting my insides. I took a few deep ragged breaths while reaching under on my left side “come on, you go this, if I don’t do it, I will be dead in minutes, come on,” I said giving myself a pep talk. I wrapped my palm around a piece of cold steel, gripping tightly. I can feel the poison that the blade has been dipped in rush through every single vein in my body, “On the count of three” I breathed out loud.

“One” I gripped the steel handle tighter.

closing my eyes. “Two”

“Three”

In a single slick motion, the sound of flesh ripping filled my ears and a loud grunt escaped my lips –“Oh fuck, that hurts like hell” I groaned, I looked at the silver knife that I pulled out of my side.  Black Blood dripped from the silver blade “Well, that’s new” I said pulling the blade up to my nose. Taking a quick sniff, there was a hint of Wolfsbane still embedded into the blade, but a strange faint scent laid under the poisonous scent - this poison is…Different. I couldn’t hold myself up any longer,   collapsing from the poison attacking my system, I rolled on my back and groaned in agony, the heavy loss of blood that oozed from my Left side.  My eyes rolled upwards and stared up at the night sky; I’d never seen such a beautiful blanket of stars before. They shimmered like glitter, flickering their life as if the gods made them to give us lonely wolf-shifters comfort each time we looked up. but I found no such thing, my only comfort came from an image, not just any image but the set of familiar human eyes that I became accustomed to “Sunshine’s eyes” Every time I stared at them, they were a deep blue like a fresh clear ocean, so innocent, and ever so pure- such a shame Sunshine suffered so much trauma in a short time. Maybe that’s why we became good friends. We both suffered enough in this lifetime, what’s one more scar to be added to the scorecard? - I reached my hand up in the sky, imagining I’m stroking her long blond curly hair. Tangling my fingertips into the end of the strands, curling them around my finger -My wolf Cosmo wanted her, he wanted to be near her every minute of every day, to wake up next to her every morning, to be snuggled up to her as her body melted against mine- to kiss those pretty pink lips that I dreamt of doing so many times in my head- to protect her from everything that threatened to harm her- I would provide shelter, food, love, anything she ever wanted, I would gladly give her without hesitation. but one thing stood in our way of Claiming our girl… was… her Master…Ryder… The Soul Keeper that holds her soul in the Palm of his hand… She couldn’t do anything without him knowing, she was his puppet, a Marionette whose only design was to dance for him, No one is to touch his little doll…if they did, he could twist their soul, Leaving it in utter chaos-  He always had horrible timing. But I and Cosmo never acted on our feelings. Because if we did, she would be more broken than she is now and Ryder will see to it that Sunshine will Run back to him no matter how many times he breaks her… it's just a reminder of who she belongs to- I clenched my fist in the air. “Fuck you, Grogan, I will be back to take your life as you sought so desperately to take mine,” I said Cursing the name of the man I’m going to kill for doing this to me. yet my final thoughts drifted to my human friend Sunshine, “Don’t fret my little dove, I’ll come back one day and when I do, I promise to take what is mine, to Claim what always belonged to me. My Sunshine” I whispered my vow.

Somehow.

Someway.

Someday.

“Holy Fuck, Seth,” An older man’s voice said in a panicked tone. “What in the god's name happened to you?”

yep, I knew that voice, it belonged to Uncle Gary, Alpha, to the Scarlet Blade Pack. Even though we aren’t related by blood, I was just a newly born abandoned pup when he found me out in the woods, he was in his wolf form hunting for food to feed his growing pack.

“It’s Not that bad, it's just a minor Scrape” I tried to chuckle but when I did, I can taste the warm metallic iron in my mouth, yep, blood always tasted like pennies to me. yuck.

“you idiot, tell me What the Fuck happened?”  he kneeled next to me and scooped my heavy-bleeding body up in his strong arms like I was some sort of paperweight, might as well be right now. I must have felt like a feather to someone like him. “We were A-ambushed,” I said gasping for air. His long thick fingers pushed back my long raven black hair away from my face.

“Shh, don’t speak, we will get you to the Fae healer and he will make you good as new” Gary said as he started to get up from his knees, but Seth stopped him using his body as deadweight while shaking his head no.

“Please, I can’t lose you, my son” I sobbed, my wolf Sinner, whimpered in my head. Seth stretched up a shaking hand and put it on my wet cheek wiping stray tears away.

“You tell sunshine, I’ll be back to claim what belongs to me,” I said in my last final breath that escaped my lungs before letting the darkness take me away.
