Chapter one hundred and twenty three

Dominic lifted the lid of the small wooden box and revealed a tiny brown cushion inside. Resting on it was a shiny wooden circle, about the size of his finger.

Carefully, he picked up the small circle and placed it on his ring finger, where it fit slightly loose.

"Not on the ring finger. Why not try the middle finger?" Kathy whispered as she observed Dominic struggling with the loose fit.

Without hesitation, Dominic placed the box on the coffee table and handed the loose circle to Kathy.

"Why? Don't you like it after all?" Kathy's heart sank as she heard Dominic's words, realizing her impulsive nature had caused this.

"No, Kathy, I like it. Can you help me put it on?" Dominic looked at Kathy with a passionate gaze, his tone soft and expectant.

Kathy avoided making eye contact with Dominic and glanced to the side, nodding silently. "Alright. Give me your hand."
