"Come on, we're going to be late!" I screamed excitedly as I struggled to put on my shoes.
I was excited about the party we had planned for so long!
"I'm going to leave you, Riley!" I said scowling dramatically.
I bite my lip as I look at my reflection in the mirror.
I look so good…tonight is going to be so fun and memorable.
As Riley made her way down the staircase, a string of expletives flowed out from her lips, leaving me intrigued about her current state of mind.
"Ugh, oh my gosh" Riley exclaimed as she continued down the stairs toward me
The tone of her voice and the words she used conveyed a sense of frustration, anger, or perhaps disappointment. It was clear that something was bothering her, and I couldn't help but wonder what it was.
"What's wrong?" I asked a little skeptical about the interaction.
What is going on with her now?
As she walked away, a sense of helplessness washed over me. I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was bothering her deeply, but I didn't know how to help.
"I'm just worried that I won't find my mate and tonight will be a total disaster," said Riley worriedly.
"You don't have to think about it too much. Just have fun and everything will be fine" I said to her assuringly.
As I walked down the street with her, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.
It was like a nagging sensation that kept tugging at the back of my mind. I tried to brush it off and distract myself by talking to her, but I could tell she was feeling the same way.
We both had a sense of unease but neither of us dared to say anything. It was as if we were afraid to give a voice to our fears as if acknowledging them would make them real.
"Okay, can you tell me who you find attractive today?" she asked, looking at me curiously, scanning me from head to toe.
"I honestly don't know, but I'm open to being pleasantly surprised," I replied, giving her a sideways glance of my own.
My mind was trying to tell me something but soon we were at the party.
We were having our annual claiming ceremony where young wolves who had just come of age and other pack members gathered to celebrate.
The atmosphere was electric with excitement and anticipation as we waited for the new members of our pack to be officially recognized.
The scent of fresh pine and crackling firewood wafted through the air, as we sat around the bonfire. As the sun slowly set over the horizon, casting a warm orange glow across the sky, the elders of our pack began to speak.
They regaled us with stories of past claiming ceremonies, sharing the wisdom and knowledge that had been passed down through generations.
I had undoubtedly been looking forward to meeting my mate for so long.
Most of the pack members had already been there so finding a place to enjoy the festivities wasn't really a problem but my mind was everywhere at the moment.
Riley had already set her eyes on an unfortunate target to spend her evening with.
I chuckled softly as she began walking towards the drinks section where her eyes were following.
“Come find me when the main part of the ceremony begins,” she said as she winked at me and sashayed away.
I scoffed wide-eyed at her. “We just got here!” I said to her back, gesturing wildly.
I shake my head and proceed to look around.
As I stood at that corner, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over me. The faces of people I grew up with flashed before my eyes, some of them I still talk to, while others have faded into the background of my life.
I was always something of a loner, content with my own company and the company of my thoughts. But my only friend back then was Riley, she was always outgoing and knew everyone.
I remember wandering around the neighborhood with her, exploring every nook and cranny, and meeting new people along the way.
It was a different time back then when the world felt smaller and more intimate. Now, as I stood at that corner, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness for the times that have passed.
But as I watched the people go about their day, I felt a sense of contentment settle over me. It was comforting to see that life goes on, and that people continue to live and thrive, even if we've lost touch with each other.
For a moment, I felt like I was a part of something larger than myself, a small but integral part of a community that continues to grow and change.
Suddenly, I felt a strange sensation from my head to my chest and then I started looking around frantically.
Despite scanning the room meticulously, I failed to identify any apparent reason for the sudden discomfort that had settled in my chest. My frustration began to mount as I continued to search for a clue but to no avail.
I started to huff in exasperation, feeling increasingly helpless and clueless. Just as I was about to give up my search, my eyes fell on a person in the gathering who I never thought I would ever look into.
The intensity of my gaze surprised even myself, as I felt strangely drawn to this person, almost as if I had been waiting for this moment for a long time.
Then he mouthed the one thing that confused and startled me even further.
“Mate”.
The silence that followed was deafening, and my mind was racing with a million thoughts. My heart raced and my mind couldn't comprehend what was happening. Why was Alpha Christian looking at me like that? And what did he say?I held my breath, waiting for him to say something else. But instead, he kept his gaze fixed on me as if he was searching for something deep within my soul. His eyes were intense, yet casual, and I couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking.Damon, his Beta, whispered something in his ear, causing him to finally look away from me. At that moment, I felt as though I had been released from a hypnotic spell. What the hell was that?I wasn't sticking around to find out.Next thing I know, the once-empty room is now abuzz with excitement. Everyone seems to have found their mate, except for me, of course. As I scan the room, my eyes land on Riley, who is staring intently at a guy across the room.Curiosity getting the better of me, I creep up to her quietly, just to
“Where am I?”I whispered, trying to stand up but it was proving hard to do.My bones were weak and it felt like I had been drained of every drop of blood in my body. I tried to remember the last thing that happened and how I ended up here. Where was here anyway? I was in some kind of cellar thing. No windows, one door. Chains on top and the floor and upon looking I realize my hands were chained to the ceiling and my feet to the floor. What the hell? Turning my head from left to right trying to understand my surroundings.“Ouch, that hurts so much,” I said, panting slowly. Even speaking hurts a little too much. The last thing I remember is I was in front of my house when I heard someone.Wait, was I kidnapped? What happened last night? Where is everybody?“Hello! Is anybody there?” I said as loudly as my voice could allow me to.Struggling I tried to get up on my feet, but something was weighing me down. I succeeded and I noticed the iron door to the place I was kept immediately
The voice I heard was definitely Riley. It brought tears to my eyes to know that she was close by.I took in a deep breath and asked, “Are you okay?... Where are you? What's going on?” “I'm so glad I can hear you,” she said and she was crying, “I thought you were dead C” “Me too Ri and I didn't know what to do,” I said, clutching my chest in desperation.I had been wearing the same clothes for God knows how long and it was evident from the way I smelled. I required a hot shower."It's obvious that they had a specific target in mind, and they had inside help," she said confidently, her voice steady despite the intensity of the situation. "But we're not going to let them get away with this. We're going to figure out who they are, what they want, and how we can stop them. We won't rest until we've got this all under control.”It had to have been an inside job because everything happened so fast.My mind was swirling with different possibilities and to say I was scared was an understat
Everything seems to be out of my control. I was captured by a power-hungry man and his boy-crazy sister who thinks I'm the Alpha's mate. Things couldn't possibly be worse.Meanwhile, back home the men were packed at Alpha Christian's house, things were intense right now. People were taken from their homes and no one could answer how that was possible. The elders were furious. They needed answers and solutions, and most people were out for blood. “How could you allow this to happen?!” Marlow asked. “They took my daughter right from the doorstep of my home. How could that have happened? You're supposed to keep us safe!”Christian was deep in thought while everyone else was going berserk in the room.He couldn't understand how anybody could make it across the border without the alarm going off. They had men there for these things.Which made him think something was up! Who could've tipped those guys off and why?No one came to mind at all which caused him more discomfort. Someone had es
I didn't know what had happened back at home. I didn't know anything because since the last time Fiona came here I haven't had any visitors here. I was getting fed up and it was all because they thought I was Alpha Christian's mate. It's ridiculous that they would even think that. And what about what they said about being the child of the comet. Was that nonsense too? Right now I wished my dad was here to help me. I had no idea what to do. I heard clanging outside my door and then it swung open with a force. Inside came two fierce looking men and one girl in the middle who held a tray full of something in her hand. I tried to stand so I could talk to her but the men just looked at me like they would gut me if I tried anything. She dropped the tray not so far from me then proceeded to unchain my hands from the walls. She then chained them together in a tight but long chain so I could use my hands but not try to escape. “Thank you…” I said I was grateful, and went ahead to check
I didn't think about my plan 100% because, come on now, I didn't have a lot of options. I had to do something.I got ready for whatever was going to meet me when the doors opened.Riley needed me, hell my dad needed me right and nothing was going to stop me from getting out of this damn cellar.I heard about three or four pairs of footsteps bearded towards the door.Whatever stunt I was about to pull, I prayed it was going to be worth getting hurt like hell for.As the door was unlocked from outside, I hunched my back down and prayed to the goddess for strength. As they piled inside the states looking around the room and didn't find anything or anyone that would cause the amount of noise they had heard. They zeroed on me, one guard in particular started coming closer to me with the purpose of checking on the prisoner. He stood and slightly poked me with the butt of his gun, “hey…wake up” he said when he was at my head now.I quickly looked up and wrapped one hand around his gun and hi
Beep…beep…beep….That continuous beeping sound is driving me crazy. Can someone turn it off?I was slowly waking up and I felt so groggy. Wow, these sheets are so soft.I used my hand to feel the table and shut the alarm that was blaring.I tried opening my eyes and they were taking so long. My lids were very heavy and they hurt. When I finally managed to pry them open, the stream of light from the open window entered right into them and caused me discomfort.I hissed and used my hand to try to block out the sun from blinding me.I looked around the room slowly and realized, I don't know where I am but it sure looks very fancy. What happened when I ran into that smoke? Who came for me?Just then, someone opened the door and entered the room. It took me a second to react but when I did, my eyes widened.“You… Alpha Christian'' I said in surprise. I wasn't expecting that at all.“Celeste. How are you feeling?”, he said it politely. This was the man I had respected but feared from afar.
“What?!”, said Alpha Christian in astonishment. I've come to understand that people tend to do whatever he wants. The fact that I had blatantly disobeyed his orders and came downstairs with what I was saying, the surprise was clearly painted on his face.He came close to me and gave me a pointed look. If I could read his mind, I would love to know what he was thinking right now.“What exactly do you mean, you want to fight?” He said in a low tone, still looking at me like I had lost my marbles.“It's not exactly Chinese I'm speaking. I want to train, with you” I said pleading.“You are in no shape, you were tortured for days. Goddess! You're supposed to be in bed resting. What about that don't you understand?” He said, exasperated.I huffed and took a look around. If he wasn't going to train me, then someone else would have to.He noticed what I was doing and before I could say anything, I was being hauled like a ragdoll and the next thing I knew I was staring at a broad back.“Hey!
