PROLOGUEYSOBELLA IS SITTING in a corner with a little smile on her face, looking at the people of Assura celebrating under the full moon. It is the 45th anniversary of their town and the people are having a festive feast. It's almost midnight and only a few people are left in the park. Ysobella also decided to head home. On her way home, she was happily watching the townspeople on each side of the road. She feels pleased as she observes their faces as if they carry no burden. This is what she wants. A peaceful but lively environment to live in. No violence and the people are not unpleasant. When she reached their house, her Grandma Esmey is already resting in her room. Her grandmother went home a little earlier than her because of exhaustion. Since Ysobella's parents are long gone, it was just her and her grandmother. THE FIRST TIME THE SAME DREAM awakened me from my slumber. It's odd because I kept on dreaming about it for five nights. The dream is about a little girl who wanders in the woods with her small basket filled with various flowers. As she keeps marveling around the woods, she spotted a huge tree not so far from the lake. But she knows she is not supposed to go this far so she decided to turn her back and head back to her parents. She was a few steps away when she heard a muffled sound. It was like something or someone is moaning. Fear suddenly surged through the little girl. But despite the fear she felt, she still found herself walking towards the location where the sound is coming from. She was surprised when she realized that the sound came from the tree she noticed earlier. There, was a young man, with his white t-shirt stained with red, which the girl presumed was blood. HAPPY BIRTHDAY I OPENED MY eyes and found out that Ayla is no longer in her bed. Another day and another year for me. My life changed in an instant after what happened in Assura. "Happy Birthday, to me," I greeted myself. Ever since my grandmother died I stopped celebrating my birthday but Nana and Mama Melly said that I should not forbid myself from celebrating another year of my life.
