Chapter 0005

Finding proof was much harder than I thought it would be. Although Axel gave the order that everyone was to be cooperative and help me in any way they could, most of them gave me space and made little remarks here and there.

I was happy that they at least didn't try to make things harder for me by bullying me but the murmurs and glares kept me on my toes.

For the whole full day, I walked around asking questions and trying to trace my steps to see who had been with me at the time I had prepared the medicine for the Alpha but I got nothing.

Eventually, I got tired and retired to my room. My spirit was dim and I was beginning to lose hope. How the heck did I expect to find any proof this way?

I sighed as I plopped down on the bed. My mind suddenly drifted off to Axel and his deal but before I could dwell more on it, I heard a knock on the door.

Who could that be?

I sighed as I stood up from the bed and walked over to the door. When I opened it, I wasn't surprised to see Valerie on the other side.

“I guess even the Alpha King couldn't stand your presence. He had to send you away," She uttered with a smirk and I frowned.

“Why are you here? To make things difficult for me?" I uttered and she shook her head.

“Oh no honey, of course not. I just came to remind you that you are never going to win this so I just suggest you give up and let fate take its cause. Even if you find proof, Tristan will never go back to you," She muttered and I scoffed.

“I don't want him. Have fun with my sloppy seconds because that's all you are ever going to get, my left overs," She slapped me across the face and was about to grab me by the neck when Tristan appeared.

“That's enough, Valerie," She immediately dropped her hand and turned to him with wide eyes.

“Tristan, I…"

“I told you to stay away from her, Valerie," He muttered with a glare then turned to me and his eyes softened.

He reached forward and was about to touch my red cheek when I moved back and glared at him.

“Good night." I slammed the door in the face then rested my back on the door as I took a deep breath. It was no surprise that Tristan could still trigger my emotions but after I rejected him, that would hopefully stop.

The next day wasn't easier. As a matter of fact, it was much harder. It felt like everyone suddenly had it out for me and I was sure it had something to do with Valerie.

“I heard she's a witch just like her mother and I heard The Alpha never wanted her but her sister instead and now that's she's out of the picture, he has gone to the woman he truly loved," I froze slightly when I heard some few maids muttering behind me.

“I don't know why she came back, I'm sure she came to seduce the Alpha so he could take her back because she's a killer and any evidence she finds must be fake. She's a witch, a murderer," I clenched my fist and bit my lower lip before turning to them with a glare.

“My mother was not a witch!" I screamed at the top of my lungs before running back to my room.

I ignored everyone in my way and had almost gotten to my room when someone grabbed my hand.

“Dahlia? Are you okay?" I turned around to see Tristan staring at me worriedly and I lost it.

“Out of everyone, I hate you the most. You couldn't even wait till I was dead before fucking my sister! The sister I thought we both hated by the way but I guess every moment we shared was all a lie and I was the fool all along!" I screamed and his eyes widened.

“Dahlia, I'm not…"

“I hate you, how could you stand by and watch your mate suffer this much? I loved you with everything in me but you didn't even give me a chance to prove myself. I hate you, I hate everyone here and I wish I was never born!" I screamed out of anger then ran into my room, locking the door behind me before crashing to the ground as I cried my eyes out.

“Dahlia, open the door. Let's talk for a second," Tristan uttered as he banged on my door but I was done listening. I was tired, tired of everything and everyone.

Why was I doing this? To prove myself to people that already showed that they didn't have my back? To prove to Tristan that he made a mistake? To save Andrew?

I slid down the door with my back as I cried silently. The truth was that I just wanted all this to end. I just wanted my peaceful life back but that was out of reach now, wasn't it?

“Let me give you an ultimatum…" I slapped myself across the cheek before I could even think any further.

The Alpha King was trouble and I hated everything he stood for. He was a bad person and I knew getting involved with him was a whole other drama I didn't want.

“If I died? Wouldn't that be better for everyone?" I murmured to myself as I stared up at the ceiling. I didn't have anyone else I wanted to live for so what was the use?

My eyes caught sight of a little bread knife on my bedside table. I cleaned my tears with the back of my fingers as I stood up from the floor and walked over to it.

“Are you really going to kill yourself, little wolf?" I gasped as I abruptly turned around to see The Alpha King standing by the room window with his hand behind his back.

“What are you doing here? How did you get here? I didn't ask for your help," I murmured and he tilted his head and I followed his eyes as he glanced at the knife.

I immediately reached out for the knife and was about to stab myself when he came out of nowhere, slammed the knife out of my hand and pressed me against the wall behind me roughly.

“Let me go! What are you doing?!" I whispered harshly as I struggled against his hold but it was of no use. It didn't even seem like he was using any strength.

“Dahlia?! Dahlia?! What’s going on in there?” I gasped When I heard Tristan scream as he banged his fist on the door. I had totally forgotten he was there.

“So you'd rather die than accept my deal?" The Alpha King uttered, turning my attention to him.

“Making a deal with you is like striking a deal with the devil and my life is already tough as it is." I muttered and he suddenly let out a humorless laugh.

“Here is the thing about devils like me. I do not take no for an answer and when I want something, I must have it. It's just my way of life." He murmured and I frowned.

“I don't want your deal," I muttered through clenched teeth.

“Well here's the thing, little wolf. I'm done being nice." He uttered as he dragged his fingers along my face till his thumb landed on my lips.

“I want you and if I have to kill everyone here to get you to agree then I'll do it without batting an eyelid starting with your dear mate, Tristan," His threat sent a deadly chill down my spine and I knew for a fact that he wasn't playing around.

“I don't care about Tristan, he betrayed me so you can go ahead and kill him. He's dead to me anyways," I muttered and he grinned.

“I can see right through you, little wolf. You are an open book but if you say so then…" Just then, Kade came in, holding Tristan by the arm.

“Dahlia? What the fuck is going on in here?" Tristan uttered and I gasped when Kade pressed a knife against his neck.

“No! What are you doing?!” I screamed as I stared at Kade with wide eyes but he just flashed me a sad look.

“I thought you didn’t care?” The Alpha King uttered with a smirk.

“Please don't kill him, I'm begging you," I pleaded as I turned to the Alpha King and he just grabbed my face gently as he pulled me towards him.

“I won't hurt him as long as you agree to my terms, little wolf. But you won't accept my deal because you're afraid that my offer is for you to reject him, am I right? that breaks my heart.”

I bowed my head sheepishly at his words. Although Tristan's distrust of me also broke my heart, we grew up together and I still couldn't let go of my feelings for him.

“I'm not a total monster so how about this? I'll help you clear your name, your buddy Andrew here will go free and no one has to die today neither would you have to reject him but since you won’t take my deal, then we can play a game.” There was something sinister in the way he said that that made me shiver.

“Wha…what game?” I stuttered as my voice grew weaker by the second.

“Though he’s your mate, He's mark on you wasn't very strong and that's why your scent is so intoxicating. Since you won't take my deal, I'll just take you here and now so I can get you out of my system and your dear mate can watch,” A sardonic smile appeared on his lips, out of place in his handsome countenance, “I don't care about your issues with him, I just care about my pleasure and why I'm attracted to someone like you. Maybe fucking you in front of your mate can give me that answer.”

“What?! You pervert monster! let go of me!” My eyes widened as I screamed at the top of my lungs while struggling against his hold.

“NO! Don't you dare touch her!” Tristan bellowed with anger in his eyes. His wolf immediately broke through and he lunged at the Alpha King with a growl.

With just a nod of Axel’s head, Tristan let out a pain filled scream as Kade broke his arm.

“No! Stop please, I agree! I'll accept your deal so please!" I begged as I grabbed onto Axel's hand and he grinned down at me while he caressed my hair with his free hand.

He said nothing, only a satisfied smile on his lips.

What had I gotten myself into?...

I had just made a deal with a man who was worse than the devil.
