Chapter 0004

As I rode in the car with Kade back the Crescent moon pack, I couldn't help but think back on what had transpired between I and the Alpha King in his office.

From the moment I laid eyes on him, warning bells went off at the back of my head. He had danger written all over him and yet, I couldn't deny that the sexual attraction was mutual. I had never even felt this way with Tristan and that's why we never had sex but The Alpha King was different, he was sex on legs.

I couldn't help but wonder if every girl he came across felt the way I did. I hated myself for having such feelings for another man whilst having a mate but I wasn't going to act on those feelings.

“His name is Axel," I snapped out of my trance as soon as I heard Kade's voice beside me.

“Sorry?"

“The Alpha King, his name is Axel," Kade repeated.

“I don't think it's appropriate for us to call him by his name," I uttered and Kade chuckled.

“We are alone so it can be kept a secret between us," He joked And I smiled. He was such a sweet soul that I almost didn't want to believe the rumors flying around about him as well.

Everyone had heard about the Alpha King and his Beta. Kade was practically known as the Alpha's shadow and his fighting skills were unmatched even when faced against the Alpha King.

“So I assume you want to ask some questions about him?" Kade questioned seconds later and I pursed my lips.

“Is he always that mysterious?" I questioned and Kade chuckled.

“He's usually more mysterious than this. Before he saved you, I hadn't seen him for months." Kade uttered and I gasped.

“Why? Where was he?" He shrugged.

“I've learnt not to question him about his whereabouts," He muttered then lifted up his shirt and I gasped loudly at the huge claw mark along his rib.

“He did that to you? I thought you were his best friend?" I muttered quietly and Kade chuckled as he dropped his shirt.

“I'd like to assume that he sees me as his friend because I would die and kill anyone for him but he has his moments." Kade murmured and I frowned.

“He told me he saved me because he is sexually attracted to me. Why me?" I questioned after a while.

“That's between you and Axel, I don't know what goes on his head but one thing is for sure, He never makes a deal to sleep with a woman, he either gets it willingly, or takes it by force." Kade uttered and I gasped.

“He… he is a rapist?" I muttered in shock and Kade smiled.

“He is more brutal than you think, Dahlia. He doesn't care about anyone but himself and his pleasure but for some reason, he's acting differently with you." He muttered.

“And why is that?" He shrugged.

“Like I said, he is a mysterious man and I don't know what goes on in his head most of the time but all I can say is that he's different towards you. I wasn't there to witness what transpired between the both of you but just know it's different with you and trust me, most of his actions are justified… at least to me,"

“I'm sorry but how can raping women and killing for fun be justified?" I muttered and he smiled before patting my head.

“Don't think too much about it. Look, as much as I love Axel, you are too innocent for him and you're bound to get hurt. I want him to be happy but I don't see that happening anytime soon. Sooner or later, you'll fall madly in love with him and will be thrown to the side like the other girls he's been with." For some reason, Kade's words made me flinch and I couldn't explain why.

“I can't fall in love with a monster like him and I'm not accepting his deal. I'll find proof myself." I uttered.

“Good because Axel isn't good for you and you won't be able to change him so I'd suggest you run as fast you can away from him before it's too late." Kade muttered then flashed me a smile before turning away, leaving me pondering on my thoughts.

After that, we didn't talk much till we arrived at the pack gate. As soon as the guards saw me, they alerted Tristan and minutes later, he came rushing towards the gates with wide eyes with Valerie behind him.

“Dahlia?" He called out my name like he was surprised to see me. Kade walked forward and handed Tristan a letter which I assumed was from the Alpha King on the deal.

“I have to give her two days to prove she's not guilty and everyone is required to cooperate with her on this and if she doesn't find prove within two days, I can punish her however I see fit?" Tristan read out loud before turning to Kade and Kade nodded.

“Hopefully you won't go against the Alpha King's request. She's in your hand now and I'll be back in two days to take her or bid her goodbye." Kade uttered and I turned to him with wide eyes before grabbing into his arm.

“You are leaving me here alone?" I questioned and he smiled.

“They won't kill you before the two days are up and I have eyes watching them on the inside but I've been forbidden to help you out on this. I'm sorry, flower and I wish you good luck," He smiled sadly at me then gave Tristan a curt nod before walking away.

We watched as his car disappeared before I turned back to Tristan and caught him staring at me with a frown on his face.

“We should have her tied up for the two days, Tristan. It's obvious that she killed your father. What proof is she going to find?" Valerie uttered.

“We will honor the Alpha King's wishes. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt to prove me wrong, Dahlia," I frowned.

“Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to prove any of you wrong, you all already see me as a killer and no matter what, I can't forgive you for the way you treated me, Tristan. I'm here to clear my name and when I'm done, I'll leave." Something flashed in his eyes but it was gone in an instant.

“And if you turn out to be the killer, I'll kill you myself," His eyes flickered a little. And I failed to read his eyes.
