Five years later.

Five years later.

Amanda.

“Jude! Juliet!” I shouted their names for what felt like the hundredth time that morning. If I hadn’t, they were going to be late for school and I was going to be late for my meeting with the Elders of the pack.

“Mommy, it’s Juliet that is making me tie her ribbon for her hair!” Jude yelled back to me.

After I ran five years ago after Zane had threatened my life, I had ran and ran until I got exhausted and fainted. By the time I came to again, I found myself in a small pack. It turned out that I had been rescued by an old man who happened to be the Alpha of the pack.

The Night Walker Pack.

“Alpha Sapphire, it is almost time for the meeting.” My Beta, Bets Alex, said as he walked in.

That was right!

I was now the Alpha of the pack.

It turned out that the Alpha who had rescued me then, Alpha Jackson, didn’t have any biological child of his own. After his mate died barely two years into their marriage, along with the pregnancy she was carrying then, the man had decided to stay neutral and not mate anyone again.

While on his sick bed a year after he rescued me, he had forfeit his position and crowned me the Alpha of the pack. Because of how much respect all the pack member had for him, no one had gone against his order. And if I was going to be honest, all the support I got from the pack member was more than I could have ever bargained for.

“Mommy!” Juliet called, rushing out to meet me. Jude followed after her closely, grinning from ear to ear. “Do I really look beautiful?” She asked, looking at her brother in a way that promised to get back at him if I responded negatively.

I crouched down to her height and gave her a broad smile. I turned the smile on her brother and watched as he reciprocated.

“You are always beautiful, my daughter,” I told her.

After all, they were both my treasures. My most prized treasures.

“Alpha,” Alex called to get my attention. I looked at him questionably. “Elder Drake just mind linked me that an emergency letter came for you.” He explained.

I could recognize the urgency in his voice. With that, I handed over the twins to four guards to drop them at school for me.

“Let’s go,” I told Alex.

Soon, after walking for a little while, we got to the hall where all the Elders of the pack were already waiting for me. Gamma Beatrice was already present as well. Before noticing my arrival, everyone were busy whispering to each other. But the moment they spotted me, everywhere became silent.

With a quick look at the Gamma to ascertain what was going on, I shrugged and made my way to my seat when all she did was nod her head to calm me down.

“Alpha Sapphire.” Everyone in the hall got up to pay their homage. They all waited until I was seated before they did the same.

“Beta Alex told me that an emergency letter came in for the pack. Shall we start the meeting by addressing that?” I said the moment I sat.

One of the two female Ekders in the hall, Elder Hannah, stood up and bowed.

“The letter was delivered to me by a guard on my way to the hall a few minutes ago. Said it was specifically for you. So none of us have opened it. But the letter carried the word ‘emergency’, so we thought you should know.“ She said, extending the said letter to me.

I looked at my Gamma who was now beside me. She nodded, already knowing what my unspoken words were. She went to Elder Hannah and took the letter. Once she brought it back to me, I didn’t waste anytime to open it and read through.

My heart lurched with anger the moment I spotted the name of the pack and the Alpha in question.

How dare him?! How dare they?!

My Gamma must have seen the shock on my face because she grabbed the letter from my hands before I could crumble it entirely.

“Dear Alpha Sapphire,

It is with the most heavy burden of my heart that I write this letter to you. I have come to learn that you are the new leader of Night Walker Pack, and I know I shouldn’t do this first, but I need your help…. No. The pack needs your help with helping us with your crystal heart to help us subdue the enemies that has been attacking us with powers that we are sure belongs to the witchcraft world.

Please treat this as very urgent and respond to it as soon as possible.

Of course, whatever you want in return for the favor will be granted to you.

Yours.

Alpha Zane of Blue Heart Pack.”

My Gamma finished reading. The way she hissed next showed her displeasure of the letter, but it was obvious we were both pissed for different purposes.

“How dare them ask for our crystal heart?!” One of the Elders yelled.

“Of all things, they dared to ask for what protects our small pack from them?!” Another Elder spoke.

“How dare they?!” Beta Alex hissed out.

I was right. Their anger and mine were for different reasons.

So Zane had the audacity to ask for my favor after what he did to me that night five years ago? What if he had killed me, would he have asked for the favor from me now?

Moreso, was he so desperate that he would ask for a favor from me?

Although I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t know it was me. After all, I was a weak werewolf - at least when I was at Blue Heart Pack - so no one expected me to actually lead a pack. And again, I twerked my name a bit from Amanda to Sapphire.

“Alpha Sapphire, what is your decision on this?” The Beta asked me.

That brought me out of my thinking zone. I looked up to see all eyes on me.

A crooked smile graced my face as I stretched my hand to Gamma Beatrice to get the letter back.

“They want our help, then they get it,” I said.

Murmurs rose up but I pointed my second finger in the air to stop them.

“Prepare my ride and escorts, I am going to Blue Heart Pack today itself.”

Oh, I just couldn’t wait to see the shock on Zane face.
