JASON'S POV
A banshee? This is impossible.I could not believe that this was the case right now. I had been living with my family's impending doom all these years and even dared to have children with her.I recalled how I had made certain to find out that she had no powers before pulling off the attack on their family. Yes, Eli just might have stated everything as truthfully as possible but seriously, what did I care about it?Years back, we had been working against the other pack of wolves and rounding them off as my family sought just one thing and that was dominance. I mean, we wolves were not wolves for nothing as it was clear what our supremacy was. To think that our kind hid in the shadows and in fear of the human race was simply something I could not understand. It did not make sense. How would one hold so much power and still be afraid to show it off.I had been tutored by my father himself and it had been his goal all these years but apparently, he did not have the strength to make it happen. Clearly, he was easily swayed by the so-called werewolf council that was full of weak and pathetic minds. I could not let them control my decisions or make us keep lurking in the shadows. They had in fact threatened my father with total annihilation of our pack if we made a move on the humans and being the weakling I would say he was, my old man backed out from the beautiful plan he had in place. Clearly, he was a people's pleaser but come on, I could not stand by and watch him ruin everything we had struggled for.So, it happened that on the night that he returned and asked that I pass on the information that we would be calling off the plan to dominate and that I had assisted him with his eternal rest. Do not blame me. A man on the mission should be able to count his losses at any time and live through it. I had led him out into the night and pulled off an unexpected attack on him.He was dying and still spoke to me that he understood why I was being that way but he would ask that I call it off as even the fates were against our plan. I demanded to know what he meant and he had been gracious to reveal that there had been a prophecy also that accompanied the whole fearful display. Accordingly, a witch from the bloodline of the last banshee shall arise with the same powers. She was already born and her goal would be set upon us to end us and call the dead upon us.Why on earth had he not told me the entire story. Then I would not have smeared my hands with his blood. I watched my father die in pain before covering him up with wolfsbane and masking my scent. I made it look like it was probably someone from the other packs that were against my father's beautiful dream for us that had done this and of course as the newest Alpha, I had more grounds. It was time to draw a formidable plan that no one could break. My father might not have thought of it that way but since the witch was our problem, the best we could do was to remove her and her lineage. So, we began tracing origins from history and realized that they had relocated to this town where I found them. I had been on their tail and trying to find out things about them when I learnt that it was the first daughter with powers. The second however had nothing about that in her. That night of the attack, I had been in the woods and observed the girl. She clearly was frightened and I had expected that she would do something but she ran instead. A witch would defend herself and a banshee would do even worse. It became clear that this one was the runt of the family and I already had her sister. However, killing her family and the werewolf family in power here was not enough as I needed to make certain she had no powers. I started drawing closer to her and trying to get to know her. Miriam made it easy as she needed at the time, a shoulder to cry on and someone to tell her story to. I was more than willing to be that someone for her sake. For a really long time, I monitored her movements until she made it clear to me that there was no such power about her but life had taken a turn and I had fallen for the woman whose family I had murdered. I decided that it was my opportunity to experience true love and a little redemption as I paved through the path I had set for myself secretly. Now tell me how I would have known that her ex boyfriend would show up on my doorstep suddenly after all these years? Even worse was how her powers as a banshee were just activating? No way would I lose right now. I needed to make a move swiftly now that Eli was busy smiling at her as I knew that no matter what, she probably hates me right now.He was distracted and I suddenly flipped to full wolf mode as I howled and lunged at him. In his bid to side step, I clawed him across the chest really deep and he fell to the side in pain. He would need a minute to heal. Now I turned to Miriam with so much anger in my eyes. She locked eyes with me and at first, did not make any move. I needed to observe and be certain that she would not harm me and then she started crying."Please, Jason. Please stop." She said to me,"Move it, dumb woman." I muttered in my head as I really needed her to move so I could attack. It was almost like she could hear me and she started moving backwards towards the stairs but then as she tried to turn and run up, I growled and made a go at her. It was too late for her when she turned as I pounced on her and bit her at the side. She fell with her back and landed her head with a loud thud on the stairs as I bounded off. I turned one more time as I glanced at my wife as she started bleeding.Sincerely, I just hoped that for her sake, she dies from the wound because it would save her the trouble. It was straight upstairs for me.ELI'S POVI groaned heavily as I started healing. He actually had gotten me really good and it took a while because this was a fatal blow on my chest area and I could hear as muscles and sinews intertwined alongside cut arteries. Was this guy seriously trying to kill me in front of Miriam? Wait, Miriam. I had heard her scream earlier but I had an inkling she was safe. No way he would harm his own wife. Perhaps, he had just threatened her and made his way away from her and she might have fainted. But as the last part of my opened chest healed, I caught on with the scent of blood. That was not wolf's blood, it was human. Quickly I rose up and turned to find her lying on the stairs in the pool of her blood. No way in the world would I let her die on me. I rushed over and held her in my arms. She was bloodied as her side was bleeding badly obviously where he had gotten her and so was the back of her head that she had landed on the ground."Miriam.... Miriam!!! Don't do this to me. Miriam
MIRIAM'S POVI felt the cool air across my face and realized that I probably was in an open space as I simultaneously opened my eyes to gaze at the hay above me. It had to be hay, made into a rough covering over what seemed like a wooden shed. I realized I had been laying on a really big rock and got up immediately. Looking down, I lifted my camisole and discovered my stomach was wrapped with a bandage like material. Where was I and who had brought me here? I wondered as I looked around.I suddenly could hear someone approaching and quickly, I ducked as I hid behind the rock and listened. The person walked and stopped right in front of the shed as he suddenly dropped something. "Miriam?" He called out to me.It was Eli and I slowly made it out of my hiding spot."Where are we?" I asked him.He smiled as he rushed over to me and grabbed me in a tight embrace. I tried to stop him because of my large bandage but it was too late as he grabbed me tightly in an embrace. Surprisingly, I did
ELI'S POVI had been sent across and the impact was both painful as it was shocking. I could not imagine any other way for her to have done that until she raised her camisole and I caught sight of her healing wound. She stared down at it and then in horror as it was moving quickly let go of her camisole. She turned to look at me helplessly as fear was lined in her eyes boldly."What is happening to me?" She asked me.I finally found my bearing and I rose up as I approached her tentatively. I had just the clear cut answer to that but it was confusing. Miriam was becoming a werewolf or rather, had already become one as she had claws and her eyes blazed yellow. We would get around as to the reason her eyes were yellow but what we needed to do now was to get her to calm down otherwise she just might lose it and we all know that fear, anxiousness and anger were werewolves triggers. I was in no shape right now to start handling a youngling. That is what we refer to our newly transitioning w
MIRIAM'S POVMy eyes were what?I could not believe what he had just said to me. I could hear the sound of rushing water from afar as I had come to discover that my senses had become heightened. Intuitively, I made a run for it as I discovered how fast I was actually. This was strange but I had my mind fixed on achieving just one goal at this point and that was for me to get away from this place and see for myself, what monster I had become. I could hear Eli right behind me as he called out to me but I was on fire.I arrived right at the place where there was a waterfall and I could not believe what I was seeing. By normal human standards, the waterfall was actually really far from where we were and should have taken an automobile to get there in time as I had but right now, it only took me a couple of minutes. I had not imagined that I would be able to hear it as clearly as I had when I had been far away but even more deafening was the sound of it now that I was up close.I stood at
ELI'S POVI had to tell her as there was actually no telling what tomorrow holds for us. As far as I could understand it, we might wake up tomorrow and discover that I was dead. Jason would probably will my death so freaking much that all werewolves sired to him would attempt to kill me and that included my dear Miriam. I sincerely hoped that our mate bond was stronger than his sire bond alongside her will for vengeance. I smiled at her reassuringly as I needed her to understand that I was going to be here for her."Miriam, you need to remain calm and understand one thing." I said to her,"What thing?" She asked me."I would never leave your side. Now, I believe you could count on your powers as a banshee to hold him off." I said to her suggesting that might actually be possible."Powers of a banshee? Eli, I only realized I had such powers by chance and I probably would not be able to tap into them right now." She said to me,"You should try. We just need to get you connected to the r
MIRIAM'S POVI have no idea why but seeing the man grabbing Eli threateningly and with a knife seemed to get me really angry. It was not the usual fear but a demand within that I rip his head off. I suddenly pictured how I was going to do it and somehow I knew it would definitely gladden my heart. I was already back counting in my head for when I would carry out the act when Eli stepped up and in a quick motion, he disarmed the really big man and pressed his arm behind his back forcing him to cry out in pain."Listen mate, we do not want any trouble." Eli whispered to him."So did I." The man in pain cried out."Then scram." Eli said as he pushed him away.I was taken aback as I stared at him. The feeling I was getting was beginning to calm down. Eli rushed over to me as he checked me."Are you alright?" He asked me, rubbing my shoulders like it was a calming therapy. I looked up at him."Eli, something is happening to me. I wanted to kill that man so badly." I said to him,He hugged
REHAB'S POVIt was really amusing to me how they had been so clumsy with themselves. I had actually been anticipating the advent of the banshee and those who were buried. Perhaps I should take a little while to introduce myself properly. My name is Rehab and most would like to refer to me as the one who was and the who who remains. I have been a witch cursed with the fate of immortality after the last banshee and her witch companion had transferred the powers of witching to me in hopes that I would wait upon the advent of the next banshee and do the same as them to the next selected witch after me. I had been living for five centuries now under different guises and names but my true name had been made known to the witches and the supernatural beings so they could seek me out. I would be placed at about five hundred years now. Too old? Come on but the perks of immortality was that I get to remain in the same way I had been when those powers shifted. I would pass for one in her late t
MIRIAM'S POVFive hundred and twenty seven years old and she looked this young, it was unbelievable.I walked inside following her tentatively with Eli right behind me as my eyes scanned the entire area. This was probably not what I had been expecting when they mentioned a witch's home. I had been expecting the usual hangings and signs of witchery as if my own home had not been as ordinary as would be back in the days. However, her home seemed pretty much as decent as any other house."Not what you expected?" She suddenly asked me like she had been reading my mind, I had not expected her to notice that I had been staring so openly.I quickly flashed her a quick smile."Nice place." I said to her but I was still looking for something that would hint me that she was a witch. There had to be something.Suddenly, a bird crackled and I saw the raven. Now my curiosity could be at bay that there was some significance of what she was. "Please sit down." She said to us pointing to the two sea
