The heart-wrenching scene finally drew to a close. The umbilical cord blood transfusion was successfully completed and Leo’s heart rate returned to normal—everything seemed to have fallen back into place. Jackson could feel the weight of a boulder lifted off his chest.

As soon as the doctor walked out of the transplant chamber, Jackson stepped forward and took his hand, showering him with words of gratitude.

All this while, Yvonne had been trying her best to stay awake. She was dying to hear of Leo's condition post-operation, but ultimately gave in to the anesthesia and drifted off. She felt utterly drained and all she could hear was a gentle whisper by her ear—it was Jackson. “Yvonne, don’t fret,” he said, “Our child will be just fine. Rest without a worry, my dear; when you wake up, all will be well.”
