Chapter 1: First meet

NALANI

I wonder how brave I really am, that I can live in a place where I know all the inhabitants are monsters. They are the humans who are shifting into wolves or they are the so-called humans who actually have wolves.

This idea has never brought fear to me. Well, how can I be afraid if every time I report to my job as Alpha Liam's personal dietitian, it's his good looks greeted me 'goodmorning Nalani?'

But uh... speaking about my job, how dare I am waking up this morning and that's the thing immediately came to my mind? It's seven in the morning and I have to get up to start my duty.

I rolled from the middle of the bed and got up. Heading straight to the bathroom, I took a shower without realizing that I didn't bring a towel inside. I just noticed it, when I'm done. That's why, I was forced to leave the bathroom without any cover on my body and just let the floor get wet because of the water dripping from me especially on my hair

I was in that situation when I heard a little rude knock on my main door calling my name, "Hey, Nalani!"

The yelped flew out of my throat whilst covering my body with my arms and hands and yelled, "Wait!" I shut my eyes for a moment out of annoyance and huffed. "What?"

Siena, my human friend's voice answered from outside the door, "Madame Hale wants you to report to the flower shop, 9am later because someone has booked a wedding reception in the human town!"

I held my mouth and mentally asked if it would take me until noon, so I asked still covering my body, "Will I join in organizing the reception?"

She replied, "Unfortunately, yes!"

I exclaimed in frustration, "Is that possible? I have work at the packhouse this noon, I have to prepare lunch for Alpha Liam!"

"Well, that's not my problem anymore!"

I grunts in frustration and just glared at the closed door listening her footsteps down the stairs. My shoulders slumped after thinking about my hectic schedule.

Imagine, this morning I'm going to the packhouse to cook Alpha Liam's breakfast for 8am and 9am I'm going to the flowershop for my part time job and I'm not sure how far that wedding reception is, since I have to prepare the meal box lunch for Alpha Liam.

How can I manage my time if I don't know the time I will spend at the wedding reception? I lazily walked to the closet and grabbed a towel to dry my wet body.

I looked at the floor and muttered, "I don't have time to clean the house anymore." But my eyes went to the wall on the calendar I was marking and went on, "Nevermind. The important thing is that I have no debt this month."

When I arrived at the packhouse, I removed everything in my head that was bothering me, especially my hectic schedule today. I need to cook breakfast for Alpha Liam without any issues in my head. Because I believe that healthy food tastes better when it is made in a good mood way.

Even though the daughter of their Beta, Miss Lily, greeted me with her arms crossed across her chest raising her eyebrows, scolding me, "You're late!" But the truth is, there are still 30 minutes before Alpha Liam's time for breakfast.

I heaved a sigh, feigning smiling sweetly and replied, "Don't be excited miss Lily, your Alpha's food will be all set, before his stomach goes into alarm due to hunger." Rolling my eyes, I added under my breath, "Just don't trip me up."

I left in front of her whilst mumbling the flaw moment of this morning. When I got to the kitchen, I huffed out of frustration and just decided not to waste my time—I better start cooking.

Miss Lily often makes my situation difficult here in the packhouse especially when Alpha isn't watching.

I just made french toast and mimosa for my handsome Alpha's drinks and put it on a tray to be delivered to his office. Before I went upstairs, I looked at my wrist watch and there are still 5 minutes before 8am.

Walking up the stairs, I saw Miss Lily waiting above seemed to have a bad plan, making me spoke in a loud voice enough for Alpha Liam could hear, "If you want Alpha Liam to be healthy and eat at the right time... make sure that Alpha's breakfast won't be affected by your plan to set me up in vain to make him fired me from my job!" I feigned smiling sweetly.

Her lips fell open and she stammered, "W-What are you talking about?"

I shrugged and retorted, "Well, you can't blame me, since I've experienced." Smirking, I murmurs, "Uhm... wait." I looked down at the stairs pretending to check something in every little part of the tiles. "Let me check if there's something slippery here. I wonder if you put some lubricant on the stairs..." I trailed off making her annoyed looking at her wide eyes, I grinned fakely and say, "Thank you, Miss Lily! You didn't set a trap. Wishing you the best for the day ahead."

I continued upstairs and immediately went straight to Alpha Liam's office. I just smiled thinking about Lily's funny reaction, that's suits her.

I want to be brave to protect my job because this thing, between me and her, often happens in the romance novels I read and I will not allow that to happen in my life, of course!

"I’m sure you’ve got a busy day ahead of you, Alpha! Time for breakfast!"

By his simply looking up at me and giving me a half hearted smile, my heart flutters. He just cocked his head to the side enough to make me understand to put the food I brought on the other table. I followed him and after placing the tray there I spoke, "As your personal dietitian, I have an obligation to remind you that you need to stop whatever you are doing and eat—"

"Yeah, I know," he grumbled and added, "I'll just finish this, just a minute."

But I know that's not true, he'll forget to eat later if I leave him without forcing to stop what he was doing. I said, "I know that, that your 'just a minute' means 'just an hour' so I can't leave you here if you don't get on your feet to take your food and I had no choice but to count, one, two..."

He put down his pen and adjusted his casual polo shirt and stood up saying, "Okay, fine. I'll eat."

I smiled and pulled out the chair meant for him, and let him sit. Then he said, "My brother will arrived later, so I want you to cook dinner for us."

His sudden words makes me gasp thinking about his bully brother. My fist clenched, feigning smiling saying, "I'd be happy to."

His lips curved into a smile. "Appreciated, Nalani."

I winced.

When I went out of the packhouse to report to Madame Hale's flower shop, I couldn't forget what Alpha said. I remember how his brother bullied me.

Imagine, because of him, I have a scar on my knee because he broke the chain of my bike which caused me to fall into the ditch that time.

Until now, I can't afford to buy a new bike and I just had to endure paying taxi fare every time I report to my work at the packhouse and my part time job at the flower shop.

I don't want to take out a loan to buy a new bike because my goal is to not have a debt by the end of this year.

When I arrived at the flower shop, I hadn't even put my bag on the sofa when Madame Hale immediately greeted me with a flower bouquet and said, "Please deliver this to the Rowan Building, room 104." He even pointed his finger at my forehead causing me to blink my eyes and he said, "Don't forget the payment."

I mentally hissed but I couldn't act that in front of him. He may be gay, sexy like a woman, wearing a red lipstick but I know he's also a werewolf and once he gets mad at me, I'm screwed. So I have no choice but to follow him.

I went out of the flowershop again as if I just entered and peeked then left immediately. I let out a frustrated huff and flipped my hair. It's still early in the day but I'm already feeling tired.

Walking across the street and when I got to the other side I almost died. It seems that the driver acted quickly so he drove his car away from me even though it was only inches apart. Imagine that those inches saved me and I'm still standing here and can't move because of the shock.

I slowly looked at the man who quickly got out of the car and yelled, "Excuse me, miss?"

I tightened my grip on the flower bouquet when I realized that I was just here on the side of the road which is the cars no longer belong. I quickly faced him and slapped the flower bouquet right on his face he immediately blocked it and sneeze before he looked at me full of confusion and actually said my name in a questioning way, "Nalani? H-How..."

But I ignored it and repeatedly hit him with a flower in the face. "Do you have a plan to kill me? Huh?"

But he answered me by repeatedly sneezing blocking his arm from my blows on his face with the flower bouquet, yelling, "Stop! Get that away from me!"

"What if I don't?" I even pressed the flower bouquet in his face which caused the petals and leaves to fall.

Causing him to continue sneezing and yell at my face, "Stop! I said, Stop!" He grabbed the flower bouquet from my hand and threw it in the middle of the road. "You know that I hate flowers, right?!"

My head was suddenly filled with confusion that seemed to be comparable to a mathematical question that was difficult to solve. My mind is loading making me stammered, "W-What—what? I know? What?" I pointed at his chest while I looked him up and down asking, "How did you know my name?"

But instead of paying attention to what I said, he just looked at me smirking asking, "So you're alive?"
