Chapter 4

“If that’s what you think, you can go ahead and buy what you need on your own.” Riley left after saying this coldly to Chase.

Chase shrugged and walked away to hail a taxi by the road. “Take me to Emgrand Group.”

Riley entered a Starbucks and sat down. The more she thought about it, the angrier she was. She took out her phone and sent a message to her chat group: [This sucks! This really sucks!]

There were only five people in the chat group, and they were all colleagues who got along with Riley.

It was not long before a woman named Anna Clayton replied to her message: [What’s wrong, Riley? Who upset you this time?]

[My dad found some random country bumpkin and made him my fiancé.] Riley finally found someone she could vent to.

[What?]

[Woah! Are you for real?]

The group chat immediately became active.

[Why would I lie to you?]

Riley typed angrily: [The worst thing about this is that my dad is making me get him a job at our company. My dad claims that it would be easier for him to protect me, and I can’t reject this at all.]

[It’s going to be fine, Riley.]

A man named Edward Wright replied: [Just leave this to me. I’ll make sure he’ll end up getting humiliated and keep his distance from you.]

[Hahaha! Since our dear Edward says so, that guy is about to have some very bad luck tomorrow.]

[That’s true. Everyone knows that Edward’s uncle is the HR manager of La Fleur. It will take only one word from Edward to stop that guy from stepping into our company.]

[Drama will ensue tomorrow.]

Everyone began discussing this heatedly.

Riley hesitated before replying: [Don’t go too far, Edward. Just give him a minor lesson that’s enough to make him back off.]

Edward replied: [Don’t worry, I know what to do.]

Riley looked happy after putting down her phone.

Chase Collins, was it? Tomorrow would be the day Riley showed him just how impossible it would be between them.

At Emgrand Group, a man in a suit with a stern expression was kneeling on one knee in front of Chase. “Greetings, sir.”

Anyone witnessing this scene would have been shocked.

That man’s name was Sam Collins. He was the head of Emgrand Group and was also known as the kingpin of South River City. He was the underworld kingpin of South River City. The entire city would quake with just a stamp of his feet.

“That’s enough, Sam. Stop with this formality.” Chase crossed his legs and said brusquely, “The old man told me to come here to see you before he died. Tell me, what other orders did he have for me?”

“Master told me to give something to you, sir.”

Sam had prepared the items, and he passed them to Chase. “This is the key to villa No. 1 at Imperial Dragon Bay. The villa is worth 500 million. Master had bought it for you a long time ago. It’s known as the best mansion in South River City. You can move in anytime.

“Also, this is the share transfer agreement for a subsidiary under my company. It’s not worth much, only ten billion. All you need is to sign here and this company will belong to you.”

Chase took the key from Sam and glanced at the contract. He realized that it was the shares of a cosmetic company called ‘La Fleur’.

After signing the agreement, Chase suddenly asked coldly, “Are there any updates for the investigation I requested?”

Sam said, “Sir, I found out that the fire at Green Hills Orphanage 12 years ago had something to do with the Quaids of South River City…”

Chase clenched his fists. A terrifying aura emanated from around him.

Murder!

He had the intent to murder!
