Chapter 8

Everyone looked toward the voice and saw Chase standing at the door.

“Who are you, young man?” Dr. Strickland’s face fell as he asked unhappily.

“You don’t need to know who I am."

Chase took a step forward and sniggered. “The old man in bed has two years more to live, but you’re claiming his time is up. That’s disregard for human life.”

A stranger’s death had nothing to do with Chase, but this person had belittled the old man, and Chase had to do something about it.

It was because the old man had gone by the moniker of ‘The Medical Saint of Hell’s Gate’ when he was traveling the world, and Chase had inherited this title. He had the responsibility of defending the honor of this title.

Dr. Strickland was enraged to hear Chase claim that he was disregarding human life. “What did you just say, you rascal?”

Everyone turned to look at Chase coldly.

The doctor’s name was Elijah Strickland, and he came from a family who had been in the medical industry for hundreds of years. He was known as the Medical Saint of Cloud City and had saved many lives.

It was rumored that he had even treated the leader of the country before. However, this young man was doubting his abilities.

“Sir, do you mean to say that… my grandfather can still be saved?” The young woman from before wiped away her tears and asked hopefully.

“Of course.”

Chase’s hands were in his pockets as he said, “If I'm the one treating him, your grandfather could live for another two years.”

“What?”

This astounded everyone.

The young woman quickly said, “Sir, my name is Bianca Cooper. If you can save my grandfather, the Coopers will reward you handsomely!”

“Hahaha!”

Dr. Strickland suddenly laughed. “What an arrogant young man.”

“Do you have any idea how profound and extensive medical knowledge is? It’s a never-ending lesson for those in medicine. I've spent half my life studying it and I’m only able to attain what minor abilities I have now.”

He took a step forward and looked at Chase darkly. “You look like you’re in your early 20s. Even if you started studying medicine when you were in your mother’s womb, you’ll still only be considered new to medicine. Where did you get the confidence to engage in such wild talk?”

“Dr. Strickland is right. My nephew has been studying medicine with a renowned doctor since young. He’s 30 now and still hasn’t been able to make a name for himself due to the high bar of medicine.

"If that’s the way it is for him, what more could be said for this young man here? Is he a child genius or something?” A middle-aged man with a skinny face smiled with slight sarcasm.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s traditional medicine or normal medical studies. It’s impossible for a boy his age to accomplish anything in medicine.”

A pretty middle-aged woman in black-rimmed glasses sniggered. “My daughter is studying medicine at Harvard Medical School. She’s already 28 and is still an assistant to her lecturer.”

Everyone else began to discuss this. It was clear that they believed Dr. Strickland and not Chase.

“Did you hear that, Miss Cooper?”

Dr. Strickland grunted coldly and looked at Bianca. “If you would rather believe him, then I suggest that you start planning elderly Mr. Cooper’s funeral.”

The look on Bianca’s pretty face changed. “I’m sorry, Dr. Strickland, I was too naive. I was almost convinced by him.”

“Get him out of here and stop him from spouting any more nonsense.”

“He looks like he’s here to create trouble. Where’s security?"

Many of them began saying unhappily.

Bianca looked at Chase coldly. “Sir, please leave immediately or I’ll get security here.”

Chase suddenly sighed.

Someone sniggered. “What are you sighing for, young man?”

Chase shook his head. “I’m sighing because it’s fate that this gentleman on the bed happened to meet me. I might've been able to save him on account of this.

“Yet, not only have all of you disrespected me, but you're even threatening to throw me out. With a temper like mine, I should just leave.

“But before I go, I want you to see for yourselves what I’m really capable of!”
