Willow’s POV Beta Shawn escorted me into the next room where the Lunas were all sitting at a table together. Willow’s POV Both men turned and looked at me, both with questioning eyes. My next words felt like they came out as a studder when I finally said, “I can’t do this.” Panic filled me and I began to breathe heavily. I needed to get out of this room and make a run for it, but they were blocking my only exit. Willow’s POV Unfortunately, all things good had to come to an end and we had to remove ourselves from the bed but Alpha Chance took care of me while we got a showered and got ready to face our first day as a mated couple. I knew there was something he was feeling towards my mate, but I knew because she was my mate that he felt a need to resist her. Willow’s POV Beta Shawn’s words broke something within me and I felt pain deep within my soul. The realization hit me hard that he was only being nice to me because he felt sorry for me. I truly believed that there was a strong connection between the two of us, but it was a mistake that I will never make again. All the nice things he had done for me wasn’t because he had feelings for me, it was because he felt sorry for me, and I was just some charity case to him. My thoughts then went to the night that I pushed him into his room and the moment we had shared together. Shawn’s POV My wolf ran as hard as he could through the forest as I tried to get the image of Willow’s hurt face out of my head. What I had said to Alpha Chance was never to have been heard by her ears. I was trying to say something that would stop him from making me confess that I had strong feelings for Willow. She was his mate and I never would want to take away from his happiness with her. Plus, I was still not ready to let myself believe that Jess was gone.
