I opened my eyes slowly and sat up. I suddenly remembered yesterday, peeled back my shirt, and stared at my shoulder. It was perfectly fine, and there was no trace that I had been stabbed there.
“You are good as new,” came Jake’s voice, and I turned to see him in the doorway, looking handsome. His long, dark hair fell to his forehead, enhancing those roguish good looks of his. I scowled at him, and he smiled.
“You stabbed me,” I said, and he grinned as if he enjoyed the moment.
“You asked, dear,” he said with mock sweetness, and I rolled my eyes.
“And you still stabbed me,” I said, and he grinned and grabbed my hair and swung it like a sword.
“I couldn’t miss that opportunity,” he said, and he plopped on the bed beside me.
“You’re a beast” I said, and he smiled. He extended a claw, grabbed my teddy, and stabbed it in the heart.
"Hey!” I complained, and he grinned and tossed me the teddy. I hid the teddy behind the bed, and he chuckled.
“What happened yesterday?” I asked, and he stood and stared at himself in a nearby mirror and fiddled with his hair.
“I stabbed you, and you howled—I meant wolf-howl—then you grew fangs and almost chewed my head off, but you suddenly collapsed,” he said, and I sighed.
“Why do I still feel human?” I asked, and he shrugged.
“That trigger was for a short period of time; you really need to meet your soulmate,” he said, and I stared at him curiously.
“How do I know my soulmate?” I asked, and he looked away.
“When you kiss the person, your wolf immediately recognizes him, and a bond is formed. You would feel it, and he would,” he explained, and I tilted my head to the side.
“So I just go about kissing random dudes?” I said, and Jake's lips twitched.
“If you want to,” he said, and he lay to the floor. He closed his eyes.
“Do you love my brother?” he asked, catching me off guard, and I nodded. His eyes filled with something that looked like jealousy for a moment, then he closed them.
“Go shower. We’ll try awakening your wolf today with another trigger,” he said, and I nodded. I opened the door.
“You can go. I have to change,” I said, and he smiled slowly.
“You can’t force me,” he muttered, and I sighed.
"Please,” I pleaded, and he nodded and walked out of the room. I knew why I asked him to leave. I didn’t know why, but I was starting to feel something for him—something I thought I only felt for John.
How wrong I was.

Jake and I sat in the grass after a gruesome session of training, and I was extremely famished. He produced a pack of sandwiches and handed me one.
“I haven’t seen John in a while,” I said, and Jake shrugged as he shoved a sandwich into his mouth.
“He is away on alpha business,” he said, and I stared at him.
“Why do you sound bitter?” I asked, and he chose not to reply. Something was definitely up between him and John. Jake popped open a bottle of beer and drank what he offered me, but I shook my head.
"Wimp,” he said, and for some reason that made me smile.
“Did you ever have a girlfriend?” I asked, and he did a mock-offended face.
“Girlfriend? How very insulting. I don’t do relationship stuff; I just do what I want with the lady, and then we’re done,” he said, and I studied him.
"Hmmm,” I said, "Playboy,” I said, and he grinned.
"Definitely,” he said, bringing out another sandwich and giving it to me, and I stared at him in surprise. Why was he suddenly kind?
“You're being nice,” I said, and he narrowed his eyes.
“So you prefer me, tearing heads huh? I see,” Jake said with a cold smile, and I shook my head frantically.
“No, no. I am just surprised, that’s all,” I said, and he suddenly looked serious.
“You just bring out the best in me; I don’t know why.” His eyes roamed my face, then my lips, then back to my eyes, and he looked away.
“Eat up; you still have five more laps to run,” he said, and I groaned. Couldn’t he just be perfectly nice for one day?
"Fine,” I said, quickly eating my sandwich, and I started jogging while he watched me skeptically. Did this guy even ever get impressed by anything? I ran as he instructed, and I sat on the grass when I was done.
“I am tired,” I said, and for a moment he looked at me sympathetically. Then he masked up the emotion and helped me get up. He walked me to my room, and I sat on a chair. He rummaged around my things and pulled out my old journal and opened it. I shot to my feet and snatched it from him; he snickered.
“You write a journal?” he asked, and I nodded. He grabbed a pack of candy from the top of my drawer and tore it open, popping two into his mouth.
“Stop taking my things,” I chided, and he grinned. He looked so handsome that I felt dazzled, and he stared at me in concern.
“What’s wrong?” He asked quietly, and I shook my head.
"No, it’s nothing,” I said, and he studied my face, and again, his eyes went to my lips. He brushed away my hair from my face and slowly pressed his lip on mine. He pulled away, but I pulled him closer, and he deepened the kiss. Then immediately, my body vibrated, and he pulled away in shock.
‘Mine’ said a voice that sounded like mine but was deeper in my head, and suddenly Jake’s eyes widened.
“Soulmate” he whispered.
Jake was my soulmate.
JUDEThe close contact between Isa and myself at that very moment forced a moment of tension in the room. She was small in my arms, and her eyes were too tempting not to stare into them. While cooking Tony could hear the voice of the family members, welcoming the guests."Wow. I'm so happy you're finally here Kenneth." The voice of Ava was heard.'Kenneth?' Tony was puzzled, the Kenneth he knew was Ava's childhood friend, the last time Kenneth visited was almost a year ago and that didn't end up well. Kenneth is envious of Tony for having a beautiful woman like Ava all to himself."What's delaying the food!" Helen yelled from the dinning. It immediately pissed Tony off. "If it was that easy, why can't you make breakfast yourself?" He said under his breath. "Coming!" He then replied.Hurriedly he arranged the food in a tray and went to serve on the dining table. His eyes immediately met with Kenneth, and Lilian, Kenneth's younger sister."Please hurry up, serve our guests first." Helen

Jude POV After the whole altercation at the secret room, I had to adjust my suit and make sure that Isadora didn't suspect anything. I didn't want her to see this nasty side of me, it would most likely break her down.. Stepping out of the secret room, I noticed she was concentrating on her phone till I called her name and she looked up in my direction, with a smile on her face. "You took hours there." She said, as some of the other boys stepped out of the room as well. "Just had business to deal with." I replied. "Also I noticed someone was screaming in there. What was that?" For a moment I stared at her trying to hold it together. "You most likely heard from the wrong room. I mean look around, there are several rooms in this company. Now let's head to my office." I extended my arms and she took it and we both walked through the hallway, till we arrived at my office. The moment the door opened, a much familiar face was seated by the couch with a huge pack of cigar on the table
Isa POVThe night was beyond cold and the raging storm forced me to stay awake. As I tried to seek shelter in the duvet, I was reminded of everything that happened earlier today. I was slowly beginning to wonder if Jude was actually the sort of man I knew. Many had said he was dangerous, but from his encounter with that strange pervert at his office, I couldn't help but wonder if he wasn't even the devil himself. A huge lightning bolt shook the foundation of the house and I knew I couldn't sleep alone. I needed to stay beside someone and who else would be fitting to stay with, other than Jude.I grabbed the sheets of my bed and made my way through the hall towards his room. I hoped he hadn't closed the door. Alas! I was right, the door was rightly opened and I stepped inside. He was sleeping with socks on, a habit I found completely absurd. I silently made my way to his bed and snuck into his arm and he seemed to find comfort in it. He was particularly warm and I loved how calm his b
Jude POVI had not shared the bed with several of the girls I had brought at night since I disliked making physical contact with people at night. Not that she ever would have imagined wanting to be near me at night. Unless there was something she wanted from me, she never bothered to hide her unwillingness to have me near her, especially when we slept together.I refused Isadora's request to be close to me.Her bloated face was lit by the early morning light. Dried tears from her lashes adhered to her flesh. She had gotten closer while we slept, to the point where we were practically touching. I couldn't help but want to touch her, but not in a sexual sense.Leaning on my elbow, I saw her contented slumber. I experienced nightmares about Josephine's blood-covered body, just like I did many other evenings. Even though I rarely dreamed about the people I had slain, I still spend a lot of nights thinking about them.Isadora gave a slight moan and moved her lips. I turned to face her as
JUDE POVHurt flashed across her face. "It's quite annoying knowing that you can be a bully for most of the time."I knew she was trying to get a response from me, but I did give a single reply."I wonder what Josephine thinks" I froze in that moment and turned around to look her eyes widened as she snapped her lips shut.A knock came at the same moment that rage shot through me. I was relieved to have Isadora farther away from me as I made my way towards the door after swallowing my rage. I felt the pounding of my heart in my temples as I tore open the door. When River saw me, her smile vanished. Her gaze strayed to an object behind me. "Is everything alright?" she muttered.I flung open the door. River was followed by both Isadora's cousins and Isadora's mother, and other ladies as they anticipated the ritualistic retrieval of the linens. Enter. Take hold of the sheets. I don't have the entire morning.Ilaria, one of Isadora's cousins murmured, "Rude as usual," as she passed me. Ri
Jude was plainly uncomfortable displaying any emotion in public. He soon left me to the whims of my inquisitive mother and spoke with Romeo and other Underbosses. I eventually got over her and my aunts and went to hide in a lavatory stall.Twenty minutes later, River found me here. "It's quite overwhelming, isn't it?" she asked once I had changed my makeup and came out."That is.""Are you alright? If you're not, you can let me know. Though Jude is my brother, my priority is as a woman.I nodded, recalling Jude's remarks and his hesitation to share our personal life with others."Thank you, but I'm okay."She smiled a little. "Refrain from letting him transform you into someone you're not. There are girls like you in our world.”Unlike her brother, she didn't mind when I gave her a quick embrace and returned the favor. Although I was happy to have her support, I had to figure out where I fit into Jude's life on my own. Anything less would not sit well with him. When we eventually arri
“Are you trying to influence me with your body?”My eyes grew wide. “No. I could smell the liquor on your breath, and I was curious how it tastes.”Jude chuckled. “You are a strange girl.” His mouth twisted. “Woman.” He looked down at the dog in my arms. It was snuggled against me peacefully. Without a word, Jude turned around and returned to his glass of whisky on the table. I stepped inside and closed the door. Stroking the dog, I followed my husband.“What’s its name?”“Loulou,” Jude said, a strange note to his voice. I stopped beside him. “Can I have a sip of your whisky?”Jude’s eyes bored into me. “You’ve never had whisky before?”“No. My father didn’t allow me to drink alcohol. I had my first glass at our wedding.”“Many firsts for one day.” A small shiver passed down my spine at the contemplative growl. “You aren’t old enough for hard liquor.”My lips parted in indignation. Was he serious? He downed the remains of his drink, and before I could say something snarky, he cupped t
