Chapter Two:- Meet your husband, the eldest son of the McMillan Family.

Damien was shocked and wanted to laugh it off, thinking it was a joke even if they'd never cracked one before him, but the look in his father's eyes showed no hint of joke or unseriousness.

Damien's gaze shifted to Clyde's and Clyde seemed to be enjoying the situation since he wasn't the one getting married to their enemy's daughter.

More than just being business rivals, Damien knew the true secret of why Adamson's and McMillan's were enemies.

This was a family secret and Damien doubted if the current Chairman of Royal Hotel knew the secret as well. The reason for Patricia, the current chairman of Royal Hotel's husband's death.

Damien found this insane and stupid. How could his father be this evil and daring to let his son marry the daughter of the man whom he secretly killed? Damien found this decision heartless and unforgivable.

Although he had nothing to do with the death of Claire's father, his conscience would torment him. Getting married to a mute wasn't the problem but knowing how evil his father was, he knew that his father could be plotting something evil secretly.

"You don't have a problem, do you?" Marvin McMillan asked and Damien exhaled.

Despite being exhausted from work, he still had to come home to receive the worst news of his life. This marriage was cleaning up after their mess as he always does but even if he had to escape from them, he has a wife to think of now.

Argh!

"Is marriage the only way to stop the public rumors? I mean, must we do this? It's just like shaking hands with our enemy" Damien tried making some sense but to them, their decision was final.

Instead of wasting his time talking to them, Damien left for his room.

---

"Marriage Alliance?"

After the long, tormenting night, I woke up with a severe headache. It wasn't a new thing because this always happened whenever I had so much on my mind.

I took pain reliever pills and then, freshened up.

After my bath, I noticed that my breakfast wasn't served. Before I woke up every morning, the maid would have served my breakfast in the room but today, was odd.

I looked around but it gave the aura that no one entered my room today.

I groaned.

Things like this only happened if my mother wanted to show off on social media what a beautiful family she has but she does that only on weekends but what happened today?

As long as I've been counting dates, today was Wednesday. Was today a special occasion?

I decided to check what was going on because I was very hungry. I didn't eat dinner because of the devastating thought of marriage that couldn't leave my head yesterday.

Then again, I remembered I was getting married!

"Marriage alliance between the First Royalty Hotel and Royal Hotel"

I heard when I reached the final step.

There, I saw my family eating with people I failed to recognize.

Who are they?

I stared like a lost kid, trying to recognize a face among the people I saw having dinner.

Even if I failed to remember anyone there, I would never fail to recognize my mother and sister and then, the Chairman of First Royalty Hotel.

"Are you awake, Sweetie? My sunshine" I shuddered in disgust when my mother ran to me, caressing my face.

"Get off me" I wanted to say but having her this close to me was a feeling that I get to feel once in a decade and for some reason, I missed the smell of a mother but I knew she was doing this to show off.

The people having dinner stared at me. I couldn't read their expression, because I wasn't good at reading it. I was used to reading my sister and mother's expressions all my life and it was difficult to know what others thought of me.

"You look so tiny, baby. You have to eat to look beautiful for your soon-to-be husband" My mother emphasized the word 'soon-to-be husband'.

I just smiled and sat where she asked me to sit.

I was sitting beside her and opposite a man who seemed to giving me this intense stare since I came down from the staircase.

All I knew was that he kept on staring but I didn't know what the look in his eyes meant. What I could definitely see was emptiness or should I say sadness? I was used to seeing this look whenever I stared at myself through a mirror.

Was he facing the same thing as me or am I misjudging his look?

He looked wealthy even if I was stopping myself from mentioning something that made me notice him. The aura I sensed from him wasn't friendly and because of that, I knew I was misjudging him.

"Claire..." I heard my mother call my name. I diverted my gaze to her.

"Meet your husband, the eldest son of the McMillan family" My mother pointed to the man who was sitting opposite me and my eyes widened while my jaw dropped.
