 Amelia's POV

Things got better.

I moved on from the pain that came with Scarlett's death. The rest of the men who worked with Luke were apprehended days after we returned from the burial.

“He promised to go the day after we visited.” Ethan said, taking it personally.

“At least, they've gone.” I said, giving him a reason to be calm.

Their trial came up in a few weeks. Mother and Father call to speak with me over the phone once in a while, there was a feeling that comes with speaking to them.

I finally see myself having more than just a contract with Ethan. 

He is a sweet man, and very supportive – he stayed by my side all through the period of my mourning.

“I love you.” I remember the words he said to me that day in the room – on the bed.
