CHAPTER 40: MY COLD HEART IS MELTING

The day transformed into dusk as soon as possible. I wondered how long I had slept for.

“Knock knock,” Albert stood in front of my room. “Wakey wakey, you have a visitor.”

I stretched my stiff hands and legs for a while.

“Visitor? Who? Is it–”

He cut me short quickly. “No it's not dad. It's someone else.”

“Give me a few minutes, I'll be out now,” I discharged him.

I helped myself into the bathroom, rinsing my face and other parts of my body. Whoever was looking for was deep rooted at the back of my mind. Well, for me to know who it is, I'll have to just see for myself.

Janet was helping the kids dish out their food. I looked around only for me to see Francis sitting at the far end of the couch, waving and smiling at me.

I got closer to him. “What do you want here? Haven't I told you not to come here again?”

“Your kids weren't so nice, especially the one who came to call you out,” he pointed at Albert and I hit his hand down.

“Don't ever point your hands at my kids,”
