Chapter 48: Macy Is What?

A few minutes later, as Brandon turns me around to kiss me, I feel his phone buzzing in his dress pants pocket. “Perfect timing.” I state under my breath as he pulls it out and looks to see who it is.

Showing me, he asks curiously, “Why is Macy calling me?”

Shrugging my shoulders, I watch as he answers the call and then hear her talk when he turns the speaker on. “Brandon, is Dani alright? She hasn’t been answering any of her calls from me and I am worried right now. I need to talk to her.” She says quite frantically while the tone of her voice rises higher and higher.

“Macy, she is right here. Hold on. Alright?” He states flatly with a hint of sarcasm, as he rolls his eyes at me.

Not knowing what is wrong, I clear my throat before stating sadly, “Macy we are at my mom’s funeral. What can be so wrong?”
