Chapter 3: Awkward Situation

Mr Shawn snapped back to reality and apologized immediately. He hesitated before making his way to the door. Abigail got up and held his hands before he could leave. Mr Shawn paused unsure of what to do. His mind went blank. Abigail moved closer and wrapped her hands around his waist and he froze. She placed her head on his back and her hand rubbed his chest region. Mr Shawn was struggling in his mind to break free from her caressing.

Abigail whispered into his ears from behind him "I want you, Adam"

"Dammit (cursed Mr Shawn) what is she doing," he thought.

He grabbed her hands and stopped her from touching him but before he could break free, Abigail quickly stood in front of him and hugged him

"Please, don't go".

He tried to push her away but she whimpered causing him to quickly hold her by the waist thinking his forced push may have caused her to wound her leg again. She seized the opportunity and kissed him on his lips. He couldn't hold back anymore as he carried her to bed. Took off his shirt and kissed her all over. His clothes started coming off him one after another until he had nothing on. He took off what she had left on and thrust himself into her. Pushing hard and harder into her. She gasped with pleasure and let out soft moans. He captured her lips and kissed her passionately.

They both lay down exhausted from their lovemaking. The cry of the baby brought Mr Shawn back to reality and he stared at the woman beside him. He felt guilty immediately. It's only been a week since he buried his wife and his already in bed with the person who caused her wife's death. He quickly got out of bed and stormed out of the room. Abigail had a satisfied look on her face as she remained on the bed and watched him leave.

He went to pick up the baby and took her to his room. He quickly had a shower and prepared some food for the baby.

"I am a sorry little one, daddy has been bad. Daddy betrayed you and betrayed mummy, forgive me" he said with tears in his eyes.

The baby smiled revealing a beautiful big brown eye but started crying when tears made their way down her father's cheeks. He wiped the tears immediately seeing he was upsetting the baby and forced a smile on his face and started comforting the baby who fell asleep.

The next morning, Mr Shawn was sitting in the living room with a newspaper in hand. He finally picked up the phone and made a call. Abigail was just coming down the staircase when he heard him say "Bye" and put the phone down.

"What did you order?" she asked.

His back stiffens upon hearing Abigail's voice. Memories of the previous day came flashing into his mind. He shook his head and quickly brushed them off and said nothing to Abigail.

Abigail smiled and said "Forget it. pretend it didn't happen" She scoffed.

He shot her a look but said nothing. He felt ashamed and could not say anything to her so he left for his room with the baby in his arms.

Two hours later, the doorbell rang and Abigail answered it. Standing there was a woman who appeared to be in her fifties.

"Good afternoon, madam," the woman greeted

"I am Nora Williams. I am a nanny," the woman added

"Oh! come in," said Abigail and she called out to Mr Shawn

"Adam, the nanny is here," she yelled from the living room.

She led the lady in and offered her a seat in the living room.

"At least he got an old lady for the job and not a pretty young girl," Abigail thought to herself as she went back upstairs with a bottle of juice in her hands.

Mr Shawn took Nora upstairs after a brief conversation and gave her his room and moved his things to the bedroom downstairs. He didn't want to be close to Abigail. Nora was a bit surprised to see Mr Shawn give her his room and rather moved downstairs but brushed it off when she realized she would be directly opposite the baby's room.

Nora did not just take care of the baby but took care of the entire house's needs. The first few weeks were quite stressful for her with Abigail's behaviour and Mr Shawn's silence but Nora quickly got used to the strange situation in the house. Nora concluded Abigail and Mr Shawn were not a couple even though she knew nothing of their relationship. Their behaviour towards each other says it all.

One night, Nora was reading a book to little Lily who refused to sleep without hearing a story.

"Okay now, be a good girl and I promise I will make you your favourite pancake for breakfast in the morning. Last story and you close your eyes and sleep," said Nora.

Lily smiled and nodded joyfully. Lily got off her bed and sat on Nora's lap and smiled at her. Nora held her in her arms and read her a story while sitting on the rocking chair. Lily was finally asleep. Nora placed her on the bed. Changed the bedside lap colour to blue and left the room.

She heard a sound from downstairs before she could enter her room. Confused, she checked the time and it was past midnight. Lily is mostly asleep by 8 pm but it was past 10 pm and Lily wanted more stories and refused to sleep today.

She opened the door and thought it could be Mr Shawn was getting something from the kitchen since his room is close to the kitchen but then she heard glass breaking. Without thinking she went down the staircase, without putting on the light, and went straight towards the kitchen where she had heard the sound.

She put on the kitchen light but quickly turned the light off. "I... I ... am sorry. o mine" She quickly left the kitchen with her head lowered straight into her room.

"Did I see right, or were my eyes deceiving me (she thought) was that Madam and Sir" She just lay on her bed unable to clear the scene off her mind.

In the kitchen. "This is an awkward situation (said, Mr Shawn). It's all your fault. You know what touching me as that does to me"

"She doesn't know our relationship, so don't give yourself a headache. (She kissed him on the lips) Just ignore and let me pleasure you" she said.  Mr Shawn carried her into his room.

In the morning, Nora was in the kitchen and concluded she may have just imagined the scene from last night since the kitchen looked the same as she left it. She didn't find anything missing or broken. She smiled to herself but before she could brush it off completely, she saw Abigail coming out of Mr Shawn's room in her pyjamas and a visible love bite on her neck. Nora's face was drained of blood.

"It was not a dream it did happen," She thought.

Abigail smiled at her and went upstairs. She met Lily coming down the stairs

"Carry me, Aunty Abigail," she said stretching her arms towards Abigail.

Abigail smiled and carried Lily, gave her a spin and asked her to go to Aunty Nora. Lily went to the kitchen and Nora snapped out of her trance upon seeing the joyful little child...
