LUNA

Luna Salvador stood outside Cyrus Whitman's house with her daughter Claire's test result in her hand. She took a deep breath before moving closer to knock on the door.

Just as her knuckles touched the door, she realized it was unlocked. She pushed it open and walked into the living room, where she noticed clothes scattered all over the place.

"Typical of the bastard," she thought to herself.

She continued walking until she approached the bedroom, following the sounds of loud moans.

She knew what was happening inside, but she couldn't care less about it. What she came for was far more important to her. She pushed open the bedroom door and saw Cyrus and his girlfriend, Sylvia naked and having sex on the bed.

As she stared at the couple in front of her, memories of a similar scene from four years ago flooded her mind.

Back then, she was still married to Cyrus Whitman when she walked in on him cheating on her with Sylvia. At the time, she had just given birth in the hospital, but he didn't show up.

When she had gotten pregnant, he became distant and absent. She hoped things would change after she gave birth, but Cyrus didn't even show up at the hospital. She had been all alone during the delivery, with no one there to support her. Her best friend, Allison was out of town visiting her sick mother, so she had to rely only on herself.

After being discharged from the hospital, Luna took a cab and returned home with her newborn daughter. The sight that greeted her was Cyrus and Sylvia having sex on their marital bed, just like now.

She had confronted Cyrus, and he responded by asking for a divorce. The divorce was messy and it was the toughest period of Luna's life. She felt completely alone, yet surrounded by worthless men.

Her mother had also fallen victim to such a man. Luna recalled her high school years when her family was happy with just her, her mom, and her dad. But her mother fell ill and spent a lot of time in the hospital.

Her dad neglected her mother, he was always absent whenever her mom wanted to see him. This continued until her mom's passing. Shortly after her mother died, her dad brought home his mistress, whom he had been cheating on Luna's mother with, into their home. A few months later, he married her. Unfortunately, his new wife had a troublesome son named Jason.

While Luna started college, Jason and her stepmother made her life miserable. She tried to ignore their annoying behavior and put up with it, but things escalated when Jason who was three years her senior attempted to rape her.

On that fateful day, Luna's dad was at work, and her stepmother had gone to the supermarket. Luna had just returned from college and was about to take her bath when Jason entered her bedroom and tried to force himself on her. She fought back with all her strength and managed to grab a lamp, striking him on the head. He fell off her, bleeding.

Luna quickly changed back into her clothes and called her dad, who in turn called his wife before rushing home. When they arrived, they found Jason unconscious and bleeding on the floor.

Her stepmother made a scene and accused Luna of all sorts of things. Luna told her dad about Jason's attempted rape. However, her dad blamed her instead, accusing her of being a tramp and claiming her attire had enticed Jason.

He took Jason to the hospital, and that day Luna realized she was no longer safe in her father's house. She left home and he never bothered to look for her. It seemed he had always wanted to get rid of her.

Since then, Luna had moved on and gone to live with her best friend Allison. Even when she learned that her father had gotten another daughter, Luna didn't care. She had built a new life and focused on her own well-being.

Allison was everything she had. She took care of her and did her best to make her comfortable. She stayed with Allison, feeding from hand to mouth and doing all sorts of jobs until she finally graduated.

After graduating, she met Cyrus. Despite her horrible experience and opinion of men, she decided to give love a chance and accepted Cyrus when he began to woo her.

She fell so much in love with him and they got married. However, Cyrus was financially unstable because he was trying to get his doctorate degree. While he was in school, she kept doing odd jobs to support his career. She was the breadwinner of the family and everything else.

Back then, Cyrus pretended to be a good man. He was humble and acted like the perfect husband. She was completely taken in by his act and concluded that he was the best thing that ever happened to her.

However, that changed when she got pregnant. As her pregnancy progressed, she could no longer work as much. She had been doing four to five jobs, but she began to drop them until she finally focused on one.

When she became further along, she stopped working altogether. It was then that she saw Cyrus's true colors. He would spend nights outside and wouldn't come back home for days.

She suspected that he was cheating on her, but she didn't have enough proof. She tried to confront him about it many times, but each time he would flare up and insist that she was accusing him. She put up with him until it was time to give birth.

She went through so much at his hands, and now she was back in the same house where her life fell apart. She didn't want to come to his house; she never even wanted to see his face again. But this was more than her; it was unfortunate that he was the father of her daughter.

They had a child together and, despite the fact that he hadn't cared for years, she believed that he would care now, he had to, because the life of their daughter was hanging in the balance.

She didn't say anything to the couple on the bed. She folded her arms and waited for them until they finally noticed her. It seemed to take forever as their annoying moans filled the room.

But eventually, Cyrus turned, noticed her, and screamed, "What the hell, Luna!"
