NOTHING BUT TRASH

"What the hell, Luna?" Cyrus roared.

With her arms still folded, she rolled her eyes in response.

"Why are you being so creepy?" He got up and put on his clothes. Sylvia also got up and put on her clothes, but she began to complain, "What is the meaning of this? Cyrus, I am not going to tolerate this. How can she barge in here, into our house? For crying out loud, you both divorced four years ago. She has no right to walk in on us."

"If you do not want me to walk into your house, then learn to keep your doors closed, whore," Luna retorted.

Sylvia angrily stood up, "What did you just call me? Did you call me a whore? You should be ashamed of yourself. Look at you being so ugly. Yeah, it's because of how ugly you look that Cyrus dumped your sorry ass and choose to be with me."

"Really?" Luna asked mockingly.

"Yes, think about it, he was married to you for almost two years but got fed up. However, I have been with him for four good years and he is still head over heels in love with me. That should tell you how ugly and unwanted you are." Sylvia gloated.

Luna smiled, "You've been by his side for four good years and he never bothered to marry you? Shouldn't that tell you that you're nothing but his whore? Stop trying to show off garbage in front of me."

Sylvia gritted her teeth, "How dare you?"

"I think you should go look in the mirror," Luna replied. "Look at your face. Your cheap surgery is so apparent. The right side of your face is so swollen, it makes you look like an amoeba. I'm sure eventually he will dump your sorry ass after milking you dry because that's what he is good at."

Sylvia laughed, "Yeah? I may look like an amoeba in your eyes, but Cyrus still chose me in the end. He dumped you and didn't want you. For crying out loud, he left you stranded at the hospital, that should tell you your worth."

"Yeah, yeah, we can go on and on about how much of a loser he is," Luna said. "But I don't want him. You can have him all to yourself because he is nothing but trash."

"I am right here," Cyrus who couldn't bear to listen anymore snapped. "Listen, Luna, what are you doing in my house? What do you want? Since I am trash, what do you want with me?"

"Calm down," Luna replied. "As much as it makes me sick to look at your face, I have no choice but to be here. I have something very important to say. Listen, you're still Clair's father no matter what. You need to act like a man who has a daughter."

"I know that," he replied.

"Oh, you do? Well, that's why I'm here. It's bad enough that you refuse to pay child support. I'm tired of dragging you to court every single month. This whole fight of us going back and forth is exhausting but this is really serious.

I had already made up my mind months ago never to come to you about anything that concerns Claire, but as I said, this is important, so I had to come here."

Cyrus scoffed, "You already changed her name; she no longer bears my name so what do you want from me?"

"Yes, she no longer bears your name because you refused to pay for child support. But she still has your blood flowing through her veins, so you have to pay attention to this."

"Alright, get it over with and get the hell out of my house. What do you want?" Cyrus asked impatiently.

Luna sighed, reminding herself to keep her cool since she came for her daughter.

"Claire has Atrial Septal Defect," she said.

"Atrial septal defect? What the hell is that?" Cyrus asked.

"It means she has a hole in her heart," Luna replied. "She was just playing around the house when she suddenly became short of breath. It was so serious that she couldn't breathe properly.

I rushed her to the hospital, and she was diagnosed with atrial septal defect. It's very serious, and the doctor said she needs to be treated as soon as possible. If it's left untreated, her condition will worsen.

She might develop swollen feet, and a swollen stomach, and people have even died from it. Listen, I know we have our differences and issues, but please, this is your daughter we are talking about."

Luna pleaded desperately, her voice shaking, "The hospital said that the surgery is expensive. It costs between twenty to twenty-five thousand dollars. Yes, I know that is a lot of money, and I'm not asking you to foot all the bills. I'm just saying you should support with some part of the money."

Cyrus sat back on the bed and began laughing, "Twenty to twenty-five thousand dollars? Just tell me you want to get me arrested like you've done in the past four years. Go ahead, call the police on me, that's what you are good at anyway.

And news flash: even if I had that money, why would I want to waste it on you and your good-for-nothing daughter?"

Luna's eyes welled up with tears. "She's also your daughter," she cried. "How can you say this? If your father or your mother thought the same way about you, would you be alive today? Think about all the times they took you to the hospital and paid your medical bills when you fell sick."

"Do not bring my parents into this," Cyrus warned. "Do not. You already know my parents are dead. That's a sensitive issue."

"That is not the point," Luna replied, her voice filled with emotion. "I'm trying to say you should own up to your responsibility. Your daughter is dying, and she needs this surgery.

The least you could do is show concern. You don't even care to see her, but I'm not asking you for that. Just assist in saving her life. I know you have some money because you now have a job. Please!"

Sylvia rolled her eyes and said to Cyrus," Can you guys wrap up this conversation? I mean, I was close to reaching orgasm before your deranged ex-wife barged into our house."

"Will you shut the hell up?" Luna thundered. "I'm trying to discuss something important, you dummy."

"Listen," Cyrus said to her, "Your daughter Claire can go ahead and die if she wants. As a matter of fact, I will be so happy because that way, nothing will ever connect you to me again. I just want you out of my life. Don't you get it? Go away, leave me alone. What other language will you understand, Luna?"

Tears poured out of Luna's eyes as she stared at him, "You know, I knew you were a jerk, a monster, and an evil man. You were also the biggest mistake of my life.

But the fact that you would wish for our sick daughter to die shows that you do not deserve to live in this world. Mark my words, you will be the one to die so Claire will never have to face the humiliation of being linked to a deadbeat dad like you when she grows up."

After speaking, Luna turned and walked away.

"Yeah, good riddance!" he called out.

After she walked out of the house, Luna sat on the ground outside and began to cry.

"What do I do?" She kept asking herself. "It's bad enough that I work three to five jobs and make peanuts. It's not enough to cover her hospital bills. I need money, I need support.

Allison has done enough for me, she's doing so much for me and I can't... I don't know what to do. No, I can't start going to court again. What will come out of it? The time I would have spent looking for money or trying to help my daughter will be wasted in court fighting that good-for-nothing mistake of my life.

Men; they are all worthless, and Cyrus is at the top of the list. Claire is all I have. I would not lose her. I would do anything to save my daughter's life, anything!"
