Chapter Two

CHAPTER TWO

I quickly took another glance at the mirror just to make sure I looked good enough for the date. It was supposed to be a ‘coffee date’ but I still had to dress well since they say first impression matters. I checked myself out in the mirror for one last time, I looked good to go. With my blue shirt neatly folded at the hands, tucked into my black trouser and with a red tie neatly knotted to fit all but looked ready to impress.

We had agreed to meet at the Eternity Coffee Roasters by 7:00Pm. I looked at my watch, it was already 06:39PM

“Shit” I mouthed as I picked up my car keys scurrying out of the house. The coffee shop was about 20minutes drive from my apartment but it wouldn’t be a good thing to keep a lady waiting on a first date; at least that wasn’t what the society has thought me.

23minutes later, I found myself at the Eternity Coffee Roaster’s parking lot. I silently prayed that she wouldn’t be seated waiting for me even though I knew how late women can be a times.

I entered the Cafe hoping she wouldn’t be there. Looking around, I couldn’t see anyone that had the same face as hers. I chose a seat near the window, ordering a cup of coffee for myself while I patiently waited for the lady to arrive. I took out my phone and just then my phone beeped, it was a message from Tess saying that she was already on her way. I felt a bit relaxed, canceling out the doubt that she might change her mind last minute.

I was still engrossed in my thought when I looked up only to see an angel walk into the cafe. She stood for a minute looking around as if she was trying to locate someone. Suddenly her eyes met mine. She beamed me a smile. I could swear I saw her teeth sparkle from the distance. She walked towards me, smiling all the way.

“Matt?” she asked with her face full of smiles

“Yeah. Tess?”

She nodded as she sat down dropping her purse on the table and tried adjusting her hair. She smiled at me again and instantly, she stole my heart.

“You look more beautiful that the pictures on the dating site.” I said, admiring her gorgeous features

“Yeah, pictures don’t exactly portray the true image of a person.”

“I agree with that.”

I stared at her for a few seconds checking her out from all angles. And from all angles she looked perfect. From her hair which was blond to her blue eyes to her nose that pointed like a magician’s wand to her sparkling white teeth and her succulent lips which was laced with a red lip gloss to her breast that stood firm in front of her chest to her skin that looked so soft, everything looked perfect. She caught me staring at her and I knew she felt somewhat uncomfortable.

“Please, pardon my manners, what would you like to take?” I asked her trying to take her mind off the fact that she caught me staring at her.

“A cup of coffee will be fine.” She said with a hypnotic smile.

I was caught off guard again with that smile but thank goodness I was able to snap out of it quick enough.

“Are… you sure?”

“Yes, I am”

I quickly ordered for a cup of coffee for her.

“So, what else do you do for a living apart from staring at beautiful ladies?”

“Huh?” I answered just as I snapped out of my thought.

“I’d like to know more about you” she said again.

“Oh… okay. My name is Matt like you already know. I’m 30 years old and I’m an author.”

“Wow. I’ve never had any friend who is an author. I’ve heard so much about authors.”

“What exactly did you hear about authors?”

“I heard they’re very romantic.” She giggled

“Hello Doctor Flanagan.” I greeted, just as Tess and I entered his office.

“You guys are late… Again.” she said as she waved us to the seats in front of her, her eyes still glued to the file on her hand.

“We’re sorry about that Doctor.”

“Mrs. Simpson please can you lie here for your final examination?” Doctor Flanagan said as she stood up.

Tess went over and lay on the examination table. Doctor Flanagan examined her for a few minutes, checked for her vital signs and how well our baby is lying.

“You can have your seat now.” Muttered Doctor Flanagan.

We watched her take off her surgical glove after which she washed her hands and sat on her seat.

“Mrs. Simpson. You and your baby are in good condition but like I told you, we’d need to schedule a cesarian Section. The baby will be due in a few weeks, so you’ve got to decide now.”

“Doctor Flanagan we’ve already been through this and we think we’re ready. We can’t wait any longer to have our little prince in our hands. So, if we’re going to schedule the damn thing today, then hell yeah, I’m in.” I said with a smile on my face, squeezing Tess’s hand.

“Okay, that’s fine but before we proceed, I’d like you to sign these papers for me if you may.” She said as she handed over some papers to us.

I looked at the papers, it was a consent form. It looked awkward at first but I went ahead to sign it. It was just some kind of formality, nothing would ever go wrong, I thought.

“Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Simpson, I’ll see you guys in three weeks.”

“For what?” I asked with a raised eye brow.

“For the Delivery.” She answered smiling for the first time since we came in.

“Shit.” I gasped.

I looked at Tess, she seemed to have held her breath for a few seconds.

“Scared?” Doctor Flanagan asked. “Don’t worry, you guys are going to do just great”.

Tess kept mute just as we left the Doctor’s office and all through our ride home. She just kept staring out of the window. Even when I tried to hold her hand, it seemed quite cold. I could have sworn that the air seemed kind of awkward but I guess it was all associated with the feeling of a first-time parents which would be over ridden by the joy of the arrival of our baby.

I squeezed her hand gently, she turned, looking at me and smiled at her. She smiled back, turning her face away almost immediately and wished I could see through her heart to know what actually went on in there. Only then could it have been a whole lot easier.

Just after I drove her home, we walked from the parking lot of her apartment, her hand on mine, we talked and laughed like we had known each other all our lives. Perhaps we had been lovers in our previous lives.

“I really enjoyed myself tonight.” She said with a smiley face.

“I’m so glad you did. I hope I did well enough to deserve a second or maybe the third date?” I asked with a more serious look on my face just as we approached a small gate that led to her apartment.

She giggled, seeing my serious look.

“Based on your performance tonight, do you think you deserve another date?”

“Well, I’m sure I did great today.” I replied this time, smiling.

“Thanks for tonight. I’m glad I met you.” She smiled.

“Yeah, me too.” I replied as I drew her to a hug. She smelt so lovely like a bed of rose that had just blossomed. For a few seconds I became lost in thought as my body was glued to hers but was quick to come back to my senses when she moved.

“You smell lovely.” She commented,

“You too, you smell good. Good night.” I said as I turned to go home.

“Perhaps you could come up and share a cup of juice or something with me while we finished up with the gist?” I heard her after I had taken a few steps.

I froze on my track. This was just too good to be true. Maybe I didn’t hear her well.

“W..what?” I muttered, wanting to make sure I heard here correctly.

“Would you like a cup of juice or something, we aint done with our gist yet.” She repeated.

Sharing a cup of coffee, with a beautiful damsel, in a lovely café, in a cozy night and also being invited to her apartment all in one night? I could have never been any luckier in my entire life!

“You’re joking right?” I asked with a smile on my face as I walked back to where she stood.

“Of course not, unless you’ve got somewhere else you’ve got to be.” She smiled mildly, biting her upper lip.

“My mum taught me never to turn down a kind gesture from an angel and I won’t start now.” I said with a huge smile on my face. “After you my lady”

She walked gracefully through the stairs while I followed behind watching her every step. It seemed as if every step she took brought out a kind of beauty I had never seen before. I couldn’t help but admire her.

“Welcome to my little haven.” She smiled as she threw the door open ushering me into her apartment. It was indeed a little haven. It was nicely furnished to the teeth and everything seemed exquisite.

“Please have a seat and make yourself comfortable. Lemme go get you a glass of juice.” She said as she dashed out of the sitting room.

“Nice apartment.” I complimented just as she handed me a cup of coffee. “You stay alone?”

“Yes.”

“You know, we’ve actually talked about everything else tonight but we’ve talked very little about you. So, tell me, apart from looking beautiful, what else do you do for a living?”

Sipping from her glass of juice and laying down the cup on the table, she smiled.

“I work as a sales rep at CUPID cereals.”

“Oh, that’s cool.”

“Any other thing you’d love to know?”

“Erm… yea…h, are you married, or once married or currently dating?” I asked, not knowing what else to say.

“None.”

“Oka…y.” I nodded my head, feeling so disappointed in asking such a silly question and failing to read the bold handwriting on the wall.

“Is that all?” she asked, perhaps feeling fed up that I was not being man enough.

“Yes. Were you expecting something else?”

“No. Do you wanna watch some movies? I’ve got some nice N*****x series.” She said trying to change the topic.

“Yeah sure.”

She reached out for the TV remote, switching on the TV with a movie playing almost immediately. Sitting close to me, we watched the movie together almost in silence except for when funny scenes came up which we would laugh together. we watched till a sex scene came up. At first, I became a little jittery. I tried to adjust myself but she caught me in between moves.

“You look uncomfortable. Are you okay?”

“Yes, I am”

“Are you sure?” She asked drawing closer to me.

Just then I felt her hands on mine.

“Damn” I coed under my breath.

She was unmoved. There wasn’t any other invitation I needed apart from what I had just got.

“Would you like to have a kiss?” I asked bluntly, swallowing hard at a straight question I had just asked.

"Yes" she replied. She stared into my eyes, biting her lip, and kissed me hard.

"Mmmmmm" she sighed as we kissed. "You kiss quite nice, but, well..." She grabbed me and pulled me to her grabbing my crotch.

I looked into her pretty eyes. Once again, I kissed her so hard. She grabbed my crotch again and unzipped my pants. I pulled her to me. Reaching under Tess's sexy dress, I unhooked her bra. She pulled it off.

I softly blew in her ear. I kissed her neck. My hand was on her ass.

"Ooooohhh," she sighed. She kicked her shoes off. As we kissed, I brought my hands to her crotch. I slid her pants off. She pressed closer to me, giving me tongue.

"That's what I like," she said softly, unbuttoning my shirt. Off it came. We moved towards the stairs. She undid a couple of buttons on her blouse.

She took me by the hand and led me to her room. I pulled her blouse off just when she slammed the door shut. My pants came off almost immediately.

We landed on her large bed. We kissed each other hard and long. I nibbled her earlobe. Again, she grabbed my crotch. I was hard.

She sat up and took off her skimpy panties. She smiled coyly as she gave me a look out of the corner of her pretty eye. I removed my underpants.
