Lightning didn't know why the cop didn't listen to her and it annoyed the hell out of her. Her reckless action brought their enemies to their hideout, which made their getaway almost impossible.
She had had to confiscate her phone so the cop is not tempted to call anyone for help.
Lightning scoffed as she remembered the cop asking to give herself up. As if she would be stupid enough to trust the Justice system in the state. She will most likely be dead before she makes it to the police station.
Percy's reach into the government was so verse that Lightning was not ready to trust anyone's words. She was going to Marcus because she put her trust in the guy's feelings for her to know that he wouldn't betray her. Nevertheless, it was a risky gamble.
