Noah’s friends didn’t believe that he just up and left without telling anyone nor did his family. They all met up at our old house in Herber Springs so they can figure out if Noah actually moved if not what to
do next. His parents had a key so they entered the house first and looked around. They noticed that all of his personal items plus all of mine were still in the house. Caleb’s parents somberly stepped out onto the porch. ``Noah didn’t move all of the things he would have taken are still in there. We need to call the police and get them over here,” Ms. Hastings told us as her husband is already on the phone with the police. “They’re on the way over,” Mr. Hastings advised us.
When the police finally show up one of the officers stays outside and questions all our friends while the other officer goes inside the house with Noah’s parents. One of Noah’s friends tells the officer that the last time he had heard from Noah was the day before he had disappeared and told the Officer that Noah had found out who had kidnapped me. Officer Reynolds then tells Officer Martinez that was inside the house what he had just found out. “Did your son tell you that he had found out who kidnapped his wife,” He asked Noah’s parents. “No, he didn’t mention it to us,” Ms. Hastings replied. “Okay, thank you, we are going to get detectives in here and see if there isn’t something that will help us find your son,” Officer Martinez tells Noah’s parents as he guides them outside. “You need to just go home and we will get a hold of you when we find out something,” He advised everyone.
When detectives show up they search the house Noah’s parents wait at a nearby hotel for news on their missing son. One thing the detectives are
looking for is any information about my kidnapper that the police officers were told that Noah had. Unfortunately, they didn’t find anything useful inside Noah’s house. The only thing they know for sure is that he didn’t move away.
Noah’s parents go back home and leave everything in the hands of the police. The detectives start interrogating all of my and Noah’s friends and coworkers which included my kidnapper Caleb, who was not so keen on answering their questions. Which put him on the detective’s radar, but they couldn’t do anything to him without any proof. Yes, Caleb still worked at the same place with his actual name even though people in our town know us as Skyler and Grant Byers. It was as if he was asking to get caught and for me to be found shackled up like a dog. I didn’t know what he was thinking. “We need to leave, the cops are going to find us,” I tell him when he comes home from work one night. “We’re fine and nobody is moving anywhere, so just calm down,” He growled. How am I supposed to calm down? I don’t need Caleb to go to prison not now that I’m pregnant. Not until I can tell him that he is going to be a father. But I need to go see a doctor first to be sure I’m pregnant. I have all of the symptoms, but I need to be sure before I give Caleb the news.
“Caleb I need to go see a doctor. I haven’t been able to keep anything down for the past week. I think I might be pregnant,” I explained to him. He looks at me from across the kitchen table “No,” is all he says
as he gets up and goes outside. I remain seated at the table stunned. I can’t believe he isn’t allowing me to go to the doctor to get checked out. He comes back inside a little while later with a small bag that he tosses at me. “Here,” I look inside the brown paper bag to see different brands of pregnancy tests. I get up and start taking the tests one by one. It was no surprise all twenty that he bought me came back as positive. “Now will you take me to the doctor,” I ask as I lay out all the positive pregnancy tests in front of him? “No,” Caleb tells me yet again. I couldn’t take it anymore. “Why? Why won’t you take me to see a doctor,” I yell at him? “I can’t believe you have to ask me that question,” He declares. “They will have to take your blood and they will figure out who you are. So stop asking because you aren’t going to see any damn doctor,” He scared me so bad that I stopped mentioning seeing a doctor also being pregnant.
While I’m dealing with being pregnant, I see on the news that the police have found Noah’s pickup burnt to a crisp on a backroad. The police were able to find the burnt pickup’s vin numbers and found out that it had been registered to Noah, but no other evidence as to who had burned the truck and Noah wasn’t anywhere. I just wish I could call them and let them know where his body is located. I know if I do that Caleb would know that it was me who gave them the tip and I would end up dead. Not just me, my baby will be killed if I give them the tip. I’m so torn about what I should do. Noah was the love of my life, my
soul mate, but I’m in love with Caleb too. I just wish I knew what to do. It wouldn’t be too hard of a decision if it was just me that I had to worry about but I’m pregnant. I don’t want anything to happen to my baby.
With the stress of the pregnancy and from Caleb being cruel, on top of the nightmares I’ve been having. One warm morning I ended up with stomach pains so painful that I knew I had lost my baby. My pains hurt so bad I ended waking Caleb up with my screams. “What the hell is wrong with you,” He yells. “I’m trying to fucking sleep,” He gets up and flicks on the light. When I saw the blood on my sheets I knew for a fact that I had lost my baby. “Caleb I need to go to the hospital,” I cry. “I think I just lost the baby,”
“You don’t need to go to the hospital, you'll be fine,” He scoffs. “I’m sleeping in the guest room you stay in here and clean up this mess,”
I curl up on the bed and bawl my eyes out. I couldn’t understand how he could be so heartless at losing his unborn child.
I instantly knew that I had to tip off the police to where Noah was and that it was Caleb that had killed him. Caleb thought he could be cruel; he had no idea how heartless I could be. I got up off the bed to change the linens when Caleb burst through the door screaming at me. “Would you shut that crying up! I don’t understand why you're so upset since you obviously killed the baby. I should have taken a different woman since you're not even woman
enough to bring a child into this world,” He slams the door behind him as he storms out of the room. I fell to the floor crying at the words he had said. Was he right? Was it my fault that my baby was dead? I ended up crying myself to sleep on the floor.
I make sure Caleb is gone when I wake up the next morning before making a call to the Herber Springs police department to let them know where Noah’s body was. Not only that, but I also told them who I was and where Caleb was holding me hostage. I had realized that night I couldn’t save my baby, but I could save myself. Caleb was the reason I had lost my child, not mine. I had tried to get him to take me to see a doctor multiple times and he wouldn’t. “Okay Hanna I need to know where you are at,” Detective Lancaster asked me. “I believe I’m in the next town over I’m just not sure what the address is,” “It’s okay, we can trace this phone number and figure out where you are but you need to stay on the phone until we get the location. Can you do that?”“Yes,”I hear him telling the other officers what he needed them to do. “I promise Hanna we will find you and get you out of there,” He promises me. Then he starts talking to me getting all the information about what happened to me and w
I was in the hospital for almost two weeks until Dr. Drevits said that the infection was gone and I was cleared to go home. Only I didn’t have a home and my drug-running husband who had let his brother kidnap me was still running free. So guess where I got to stay? Yep, a so-called safe house. All it was was a room at a hotel granted it was a suite in a fancy-ish hotel. I of course got the bedroom, but the officers guarding me had to fight over who got the cot or the couch. They also had an officer posing as a front desk clerk so they could watch who came in and left. The only bad thing about this place is that I wasn’t allowed to leave, of course, or order room service. I’m dying for a juicy cheeseburger. I have to ask them like a little kid if I can have this nice juicy cheeseburger. But on to other things I’m still having nightmares. Dr. Drevits thinks I should see a psychiatrist. He believes that will help me with the nightmares. Detective Lancaster thinks that they are getting c
Movie night with some friends from my Law class. We are off to watch the new Conjuring movies. I have always loved scary movies Noah never did so I could only watch them when he was gone. My security detail is sitting a couple of rows behind us and looks like they are on a date. “I have seen all of the Conjuring movies. The creepiest character for me is the nun. What is yours,” I asked my friends Melanie and Allie. “Oh my god definitely the nun,” Melanie whispers as the movie is about to start. Allie leans over and whispers “Definitely the nun hands down,” We went from screaming to laughing as one of us jumps at a suspenseful part. After the movie ended, we decided to go next door to Ollie's bar for a drink and do our own review of the movie about what parts we liked, which parts were stupid, and which parts scared us the most then post them on our mutual Twitter page. My two friends do know about me being in witness protection after the FBI did a vigorous background search on them a
“So where are we exactly, I mean this isn’t a normal safe house,” I asked Liam the next morning as I was making breakfast like I always do in the morning. “I figured that Allie would have told you last night, you are at my parent’s house,” He confessed after a deep breath. I raised my eyebrows “No we’re not, you wouldn’t take me to the house that you were raised in,” I said incredulously. “Well I hate to prove you wrong yet again but yes it is,” He admitted pointing to a picture sitting on the mantle. I hand him the spatula that I had in my hand as I walk over to the picture. There standing in front of this fireplace were two proud parents with their young college graduate holding his diploma standing in between them. “Yea I took that picture I tried to get my brother to smile but all he did was a smirk,” Allie laughed as she came out of her bedroom. “I think he was a little hungover from partying the night before,”“Hey no I wasn’t I just felt a little tired standing there after mom
It takes me three cups of coffee for me to feel halfway human. When I can finally move my head side to side and back and forth without it feeling like it’s going to fall off my body I go and take a shower hoping that it will help me sober up some more.Thank goodness I don’t have to go back to school or work until tomorrow so I can just lounge around the house and relax plus start to feel better after my loving, crazy friends got me drunk just to pierce my ears. After my shower, I head to the kitchen not for my normal coffee but for a nice cup of herbal tea then head back up to my room and I slide back into my nice comfy bed where I plan to stay all day. Thanks to my new buddy Liam I don’t get that chance. “Come on, beauty queen, get up we have work to do,” He says, opening up the curtains letting the sunshine in as he tries to get me out of bed. I flipped him a double bird and pulled the covers over my head. Liam bends down, grabs my ankles, and pulls me out from under the covers. “
If nobody ever told you that if you want to keep the guy you're messing around with a secret from your friends, never give them a key to your house.Allie and Melanie showed up around seven this morning wanting to know all that had happened after we left the restaurant. They decided to wake me up by storming into my room and jumping on me in bed. When they opened my bedroom door ready to pounce they saw Liam and me snuggled up together. “Oh my god,” Allie freaked out. “Did you guys actually hook up last night,” I sat up in bed, pulling the blanket up to my neck? “Allie let me explain please,” I said, trying to find the right words to explain what happened. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m tickled,” Allie interrupted. “It’s just is this the actual reason you didn’t want us to come over last night,”“No sis, I promise this wasn’t planned at all, Noah was sitting outside the house in a white Tahoe and I didn’t want him to catch you two coming into the house,” Liam chimed in sitting up in bed ma
I went about my usual routine early this morning. Not giving off any clues about what I had planned later. I know that Noah will be following me when I head to work. I'm going to purposely drop a note for him with a time to meet me before I have my first class. It’s not the smartest decision I’ve made but I need to get Melanie back from him. I’ll exchange myself for her release if I have to. I’m praying that Liam will figure out what I have done after Melanie and I are safe from Noah and the cartel. After my shift at the Mean Bean coffee shop, I start walking to the University when someone grabs my arm. Noah. He had been watching when I purposely dropped the note for him. “So you said you wanted to talk, but first where’s your boyfriend at,” He said. As he scans the area. “I don’t know where he is, but what I want to talk about is getting Melanie back,”“I’m sorry who are you talking about,”“My friend Melanie, the one your people took on her way to work one day,” I hissed.“Oh that
I don’t know how long I was out for but when I started coming around. I heard screaming men yelling just a bunch of commotion coming from the hallway. I go throw open the curtains to see a bunch of red and blue lights in front of the house. Some of the police cars were parked in the grass, in the driveway. They looked as if they surrounded us. “Yes, I’m saved,” I screamed out loud. “Not yet you’re not,” Noah advised me as he came through the door. He grabbed me by my arm and started dragging me out of the room. As he was dragging me through the house I saw people with FBI vests on along with Police vests. I started yelling for help over and over again. I thought I had seen Liam as Noah was trying to drag me out the back door. “Liam! Liam!,” I yelled until he finally noticed me the instant Noah had gotten me out the door. Liam gave chase out the back door shouting. “Noah stop, let her go,” When we get to a black car Noah stops and spins me around in front of him with a gun to my head.
